Chapter 339 - Chapter 339: Meeting Qian Daoliu Again

Chapter 339: Meeting Qian Daoliu Again

The nobles awkwardly smiled, then glared at Tang San before quickly leaving the music room.

The killing intent in Tang San's eyes slowly dissipated as he bowed slightly to the silver-haired woman behind him.

"Thank you, Miss, for helping me out."

Xue Ke waved her hand, clearly uninterested in Tang San's gratitude.

"No need. I just thought they were too noisy, disturbing my practice on the harp."

"Still, Princess, you did help me. It's only right to show gratitude."

Xue Ke raised an eyebrow, finding this person a bit interesting—at least more so than her aloof elder brother and her missing fourth brother.

"Looking at your attire, you don't seem like you're from a noble background. How did you end up in Yue Xuan?"

Xue Ke was curious about Tang San's background. Yue Xuan was a place where nobles gathered to build connections, so why was an ordinary commoner like him here?

"I'm just interested in music, so I came here to study."

It was clearly impossible to tell the woman everything, so Tang San merely gave a simplified version of his reason for coming to Yue Xuan.

Xue Ke clearly noticed that Tang San was unwilling to talk much about his background, which left her a little displeased. After all, she had just helped him, but he was so guarded against her.

However, that displeasure quickly turned into curiosity.

"The owner of Yue Xuan is named Tang, and you're also a Tang. Are you related to him?"

Tang San's eyes narrowed slightly, realizing this might become troublesome. But since Tang Yuehua's identity had not been revealed to the public and was only known to a few high-ranking people in Tiandou, he decided to not hide this connection.

"Yes, the owner of Yue Xuan, Tang Yuehua, is my aunt."

Upon hearing this, Xue Ke chuckled twice, but then a hint of disdain appeared in her eyes.

"Haha, looks like I guessed right. No wonder you can appear in Yue Xuan, where nobles dominate. So you're here using the backdoor."

"I advise you not to try to climb up the social ladder so easily. Forcing yourself into a circle that doesn't belong to you is foolish. You'd be better off focusing on your own cultivation. Once you reach the Soul Master rank, you'll automatically have a noble status in the Tiandou Empire."

Xue Ke thought that Tang San was just another person trying to ride on his relatives' coattails to make noble connections, so her tone became mocking.

Tang San furrowed his brows in dissatisfaction at her assumptions but didn't bother to continue explaining.

"Princess, you're mistaken. I'm just here to learn music. Otherwise, I wouldn't have clashed with them earlier. If you think I have ulterior motives, I'd suggest you avoid interacting with me."

After saying that, Tang San ignored Xue Ke and walked over to his designated seat, where he began to repair the broken strings of his harp.

"You..."

Xue Ke felt angry at Tang San's dismissive attitude. But looking at him, she realized he didn't seem like someone who was here to climb the social ladder. If that were the case, why wouldn't he come to make connections with her, given that she was from the highest noble family in Tiandou?

Of course, it was also possible that this unremarkable boy was just pretending to be indifferent.

"I'll see what you're up to."

As a little princess of the Tiandou Empire, Xue Ke wasn't as tainted by the schemes of her brothers like Qian Renxue was. After all, she had no legal right to inherit the throne. So, she still kept some innocence, unlike the rest of her family.

Curious about Tang San, Xue Ke would often appear by his side and chat with him. At first, Tang San felt uneasy about her approach, but after a while, seeing that the other nobles dared not trouble him due to her presence, he began to tolerate it.

He soon discovered that Xue Ke was just a straightforward girl with no hidden motives. She wasn't as scheming as the others. As they continued talking, they became good friends.

This development made Tang Yuehua smile knowingly. If her nephew could marry the princess, it would be a wonderful thing.

A week later, Ning Bei and Qian Renxue arrived in Spirit Hall smoothly. There were no surprises on their journey, and Qian Renxue led her man down the familiar path.

Upon reaching the entrance of the Angel Temple, Qian Renxue looked at Ning Bei, who seemed hesitant to speak, which made him quite puzzled.

"What's wrong? Are you going to act shy again now that we're close to home?"

"Go to hell. I'm not worried about that."

"What then are you thinking about?"

After a brief pause, Qian Renxue finally revealed what had been bothering her.

"That woman wants to see me. Should I go or not?"

Ning Bei immediately understood. So, this was what had her hesitating.

"Go ahead, you actually want to meet her, don't you?"

"Of course not."

Qian Renxue pouted and turned her head away, looking like a spoiled little girl, which made Ning Bei laugh inside.

"Yes, yes, you don't want to, but isn't that woman insisting on seeing you? We're both from the Spirit Hall camp, so just give her some face. Let's go and hear what she has to say."

"Hmph, alright, I'll give her some face. After I meet Grandpa, I'll go to see her."

"Fine, let's do that then."

Ning Bei didn't press Qian Renxue further, instead offering her a way out, making her look like she was in control.

Once they entered the worship hall, Qian Renxue immediately stopped caring about formalities and loudly called out to Qian Daoliu.

"Grandpa, Xue'er is back!"

"Whoosh!"

Old Master Qian immediately appeared in front of them as soon as Qian Renxue's words left her mouth.

"Xue'er is back?"

Seeing his granddaughter return safely, Old Master Qian smiled, but his expression darkened when he looked at Ning Bei, and his smile disappeared.

"You're here too?"

Ning Bei didn't mind at all, even thinking to himself, "Your granddaughter really smells good."

"Junior Ning Bei pays respects to Old Master Qian."

"I've heard about the situation on the continent. You two did well. If I'm not mistaken, you'll be dealing with the Haotian Sect next, right?"

Qian Renxue raised an eyebrow. It seemed that her every move didn't escape Old Master Qian's keen eyes.

"Yes, Grandpa. Once we finish with this trip, we'll take action against the Haotian Sect."

"So, did you come back this time to ask your few worshipers to come out of retirement and help?"

This part Old Master Qian hadn't anticipated. Although Haotian Sect was a tough opponent, it wasn't at the level where they needed to call on these old veterans yet. Xue Renxue's eyes gleamed with pride.

"You guessed wrong. We don't need them to act."

"Oh? Xue'er came all the way back just to see us old guys?"

Following Xue Renxue's voice, the other worshipers began to appear in the center of the Angel Temple, with the leader, Golden Crocodile, jokingly teasing Qian Renxue.

In response, Qian Renxue could only smile awkwardly. Could she tell them she was here specifically to bring her man to beat her own grandfather?
