Chapter 338: Tang San's Tormented Life
Before heading to Spirit Hall, Qian Renxue had sent a group of young nobles to enroll in Yue Xuan. Of course, these individuals were also given some peculiar tasks, such as causing trouble for a certain unremarkable boy.
These noble youths received instructions directly from their elders. Although they didn't fully understand why they had to do this, they followed the orders out of obedience. After all, it was just bullying a poor boy with no background—something they were no strangers to.
Thus, Tang San's peaceful and fulfilling life at Yue Xuan was about to be shattered.
"Hey, that boy over there, I want some osmanthus cake from the corner shop. Run and get it for me. Here's a tip."
Before he even had time to react, Tang San was hit in the face with a money pouch. Furrowing his brows, he realized that, for some reason, he had become the target of a group of Yue Xuan students. Everything from his daily life to his studies was being made difficult for him.
At first, Tang San thought it was just the inherent nature of a few spoiled aristocrats. But gradually, he realized that these people's bad behavior was solely directed at him.
There were several times when he wanted to take action and solve the problem by dealing with these annoying people, but remembering that he was in Yue Xuan—his aunt's territory—he resisted, afraid of causing trouble for her. He figured he could use these moments as training for emotional control.
However, instead of toning down their behavior, these aristocrats became even more brazen. Now, they even wanted him to run errands for them.
His aunt, Tang Yuehua, was equally helpless. The students at Yue Xuan were all from prestigious families, and aside from verbally warning them, there wasn't much she could do. After all, the Emperor Xue Ye, who was her ally, had passed away, and the new emperor, Xue Qinghe, had little to do with her. Furthermore, she had heard that Xue Qinghe was ill, and Tang Yuehua couldn't meet with him.
Thus, Tang Yuehua could only ask her nephew to endure for a while. Once Xue Qinghe recovered, she would take the matter up with him and push for these morally corrupt aristocrats to be expelled from Yue Xuan. Surely, the respected Emperor Qinghe wouldn't allow such bullying to take place in Yue Xuan.
But what Tang Yuehua didn't know was that the appearance of these bullies was all thanks to the emperor's orders.
Tang San gave the group of aristocrats a cold glance. The killing intent in his heart surged, and he barely restrained himself from tearing them apart. He tossed the money pouch back.
"If you want it, go get it yourself. Are you missing your hands or legs?"
"How dare you!"
The aristocrat's face flushed with anger. He was about to move forward to attack Tang San when he was stopped by a cold, piercing gaze.
The noble felt as if the ice in those eyes could freeze him for eternity. How many people had to die for someone to have such a look?
By the time he snapped out of it, Tang San was already in the music room, beginning the day's lessons.
Behind the aristocrat, the sound of mocking laughter followed. He turned to see his companions, who had joined Yue Xuan at the same time, laughing at him.
"You're pathetic. You were scared by that little beggar with just one look."
"Yeah, yeah, maybe you should just run errands for us instead of that little guy."
The mocking made the aristocratic young man blush with embarrassment. Trying to act calm, he shouted:
"Shut up! I was just remembering something else that needed doing. What does that little... kid have to do with it?"
"Just wait. After class, I'll show him who's boss. How dare he defy me?"
"Let's just wait and see the fun. Don't get scared again."
"Damn it, I'm a Soul Elder. How could I be scared by a little beggar?"
This brief episode didn't cause much of a stir, and everything in Yue Xuan went back to normal. But later, as Tang San was preparing to return to Shrek Academy, a group of delinquents blocked his way.
"Hey, kid, the big brother's a little tight on cash, can you spare some for us?"
"Yeah, if Brother Hu gets upset, you might lose an arm or a leg. That wouldn't be good."
The thuggish look on their faces made Tang San frown. He had an idea of who sent them. A wave of anger flared in him. All he wanted was to peacefully learn music and etiquette, so why were these clowns always interrupting?
"I'll count to three. If you don't leave, don't blame me."
Tang San's tone was icy, but to the group of delinquents, it sounded ridiculous. Brother Hu laughed until tears came out.
"Hahaha, did you hear what this kid said? This is hilarious. You... you really think you can do something about us?"
Before he finished his sentence, a heavy thud was heard behind him. When he turned, he was shocked to find all his underlings lying on the ground, unconscious, as if they had been struck down in an instant.
"Hey, hey, what's going on with you guys? Get up! We still have work to do."
Halfway through his words, Brother Hu suddenly started having trouble breathing. When he turned around in terror, he saw that Tang San was no longer there. Instead, he saw his underlings, lying still in death-like poses. He closed his eyes in frustration.
Returning to Shrek Academy, Tang San felt helpless. Killing a few insignificant people was no big deal, but he could feel the killing intent in his mind intensifying. This only made his emotional control journey more difficult.
The next day, when Tang San returned to Yue Xuan, he was still wary of the nobles and wondered how they would bother him today. But to his surprise, as he walked all the way to the music room, no one came forward to trouble him.
Though he was puzzled, he didn't dig deeper—no trouble was better.
But when he found that his personal harp had its strings cut, his anger could no longer be suppressed. He walked toward the group of nobles who were laughing nearby.
"Who did this?"
The nobles, seeing Tang San approaching with a look of fury, stood up with interest.
"We did it. What's the problem?"
"Yeah, it's just an old harp. We'll pay for it. Are you going to bite us?"
Tang San's fists clenched so tightly that his nails dug into his palms. His face was filled with the intent to kill. Just as he was about to deal with these clowns once and for all, a crisp female voice suddenly rang out behind him.
"You guys are too much. If you want to bully someone, go outside. This is Yue Xuan, and I still have to study! It's so noisy here."
Tang San turned around in a daze to see a young girl with silver short hair standing behind him, glaring at the nobles.
When the nobles saw her, they instantly went quiet. They shrunk back like mice seeing a cat, immediately bowing and apologizing.
"Princess Xueke, sorry for the disturbance. We promise we won't cause any more trouble in the music room."
"Yes, yes, it was just a moment of carelessness. Please don't mind, Princess Xueke."
"Hmph."
Princess Xueke snorted coldly, her anger still evident, her posture showing she wanted them to leave immediately.
