Chapter 340: Challenge to Qian Daoliu
Qian Renxue's expression did not escape the eyes of these old foxes. Golden Crocodile spoke teasingly:
"Our Xue'er wouldn't have brought her husband here again to beat up us old men, would she?"
"..."
The atmosphere instantly became awkward. Golden Crocodile glanced back and forth between the little angel and Ning Bei for a moment, then said with a stunned expression:
"So it's true?"
"Uh… well, Second Grandpa, this time it has nothing to do with you guys, it's just…"
As she spoke, the little angel cast a slightly apologetic—though not overly so—glance toward Qian Daoliu.
The old man pointed to himself when he saw his granddaughter looking at him. When she slowly nodded in confirmation, he let out a sarcastic chuckle. You're really showing your filial piety now, aren't you?
"So this time you've set your sights on your grandpa?"
The little angel lowered her head, staring at the tips of her shoes poking out slightly, her index fingers twining together in front of her. She didn't dare to look Qian Daoliu in the eye, but her meaning couldn't have been more obvious.
"Hahaha, big brother, this time it's got nothing to do with us. We can sit back and enjoy the show."
Guangling Douluo laughed heartily without the slightest sense of loyalty, making Qian Daoliu's eyes widen in anger. He then shot an annoyed look at Ning Bei, who was whistling toward the sky behind him, as if to say, Look at what you've turned my sweet, well-behaved granddaughter into—bringing outsiders back to her family every few days to beat up the elders.
Ning Bei, of course, didn't agree with that. He looked straight at Qian Daoliu and thought, Who's to say I'll always be an outsider? When the great-grandkids are born, I might have to beat you too.
Of course, that wasn't something he could say out loud. Instead, Ning Bei cupped his hands and said:
"This time it really has nothing to do with Xue'er. I just happen to have something to discuss with Grandpa Qian, and since Xue'er hasn't been home in a while, she came along."
In just a few words, he completely cleared the little angel of involvement. She immediately turned back to give him a you-know-your-place look.
Their interaction made Qian Daoliu's face instantly darken. The granddaughter he had cherished in the palm of his hand since she was little now had her elbows turned so far outward he couldn't even see the edge of them.
"Alright, boy, tell me—what do you want this time?"
When it came to serious matters, Ning Bei also dropped his playful expression, cleared his throat, and said:
"Ahem, Grandpa Qian, my eighth god trial has been issued."
Qian Daoliu had already guessed as much, so he wasn't particularly surprised.
"The content?"
"To defeat two Limit Douluo without relying on any external help."
At that, a scornful smile tugged at Qian Daoliu's lips. The old man hasn't made a move in a long time. Do you really think my Six-Winged Angel is just some little dove?
"You're aiming too high. You have to understand, Limit—"
Halfway through his sentence, Qian Daoliu abruptly swallowed his words. His spiritual sense, when enveloping Ning Bei, suddenly felt as if it had fallen into a bottomless abyss, with no return.
The old man trembled uncontrollably, looking at Ning Bei with utter disbelief.
"You—you've reached that level?"
"That's right. I've been fortunate enough to step into the realm of Limit Douluo."
Hearing Ning Bei admit it himself left not only Qian Daoliu stunned, but also the other worship elders around them. You're barely in your twenties and have already cultivated to the Limit Douluo level? Then what does that make us—useless waste?
And the little angel, without a shred of tact, sprinkled salt into their wounds again:
"Grandpa, that's not all. Ah Bei has already completed half of his trial to defeat two Limit Douluo. You know the Sea God Douluo from Sea God Island, right? Even with the advantage of the ocean, she was still beaten by Ah Bei!"
Qian Daoliu, still reeling from shock, slowly shifted his gaze to his granddaughter.
Know her? Of course he knew her. She was someone he had once thought about making his granddaughter-in-law, a figure whose strength he himself could do nothing about. And now, hearing from his granddaughter that she had been defeated by Ning Bei—how could he not be astonished?
"You…"
Qian Daoliu still couldn't bring himself to believe it all. He turned to look at Ning Bei, who was flashing a wide grin, and swallowed the rest of his questions.
After a long pause, he cast Ning Bei a complicated look and said:
"Young people are truly terrifying. At my age, I might as well have lived as a dog."
"That's right, big brother. If you can still say that, what about the rest of us old guys? We wouldn't even know where to put our lives."
Qian Daoliu's words drew agreement from his old comrades. Their eyes toward Ning Bei no longer had the air of looking at a junior. After all, a man who was clearly on track to become a god—who wouldn't tread carefully around him?
The little angel, however, was displeased by their self-deprecation.
"Grandpa, Second Grandpa, I don't allow you to talk like that. In Xue'er's heart, you're all amazing too."
That comforted the group of old cadres, and Golden Crocodile smiled warmly at Qian Renxue, nodding.
"Is that so? Then in Xue'er's heart, who's stronger—us old men, or this brat?"
"Uh… that… Ah Bei's still a bit stronger."
Pfft.
The worship elders all felt as if a knife had been stabbed into their hearts—and not only that, the person they doted on was twisting the blade a full 360 degrees.
Behind her, Ning Bei covered his face with a wry smile. Was that supposed to be comforting? You might as well have said nothing. Now you've just drawn even more hatred toward me. Can't you see the way those old geezers are glaring at me like they're about to spit fire?
Qian Renxue clearly realized she had spoken too quickly, so she stuck out her tongue at Ning Bei and retreated to the side without saying another word.
"Boy, you're good—very good. Then let me see just what qualifications you have to defeat Bo Saixi."
"Come with me."
After the jokes ended, Qian Daoliu cast Ning Bei a solemn glance, then led the way out of the Worship Hall, heading toward the rear mountains of Spirit Hall. That place was deserted, making it suitable for the two to fight.
As for going to Ning Bei's Ice God Palace to duel—what a joke. Bo Saixi had already lost with the advantage of the sea; was he supposed to go to a frozen domain full of ice and frost to fight this brat? He wasn't that stupid.
It hadn't even crossed his mind that his granddaughter might have deceived him—he had raised Qian Renxue from childhood and knew she would never joke about something like this.
Ning Bei naturally understood the old man's thinking and had no intention of refusing. He simply followed behind.
Qian Renxue immediately trailed after them—she didn't want to miss this peak showdown. She had never seen her man go all out before. Of course, she hadn't seen her grandfather do so either, but in comparison, she was far more eager to see Ning Bei at full strength.
The group of old men exchanged glances, all seeing the excitement in each other's eyes. Qian Renxue was just a layperson eager to watch the fun, but for them—Super Douluo—watching these two battle could very well lead to new insights. Especially for Golden Crocodile Douluo, who was the closest among them to the Limit Douluo realm, stuck at level 98 for nearly fifty years. There was no way he would miss the chance to observe such a fight.
They were all experts, and the distance from the Worship Hall to the rear mountains—dozens of kilometers—took them only a few seconds to cover.
Ning Bei, with a helpless expression, gave the little angel's perky rear a pat. This woman, not strong enough herself, had jumped onto her man's back after just two steps, forcing him to play the role of transportation.
