Chapter 65 - The Fool

Renga's eyes narrowed as he stood across the bloodstained courtyard. The moonlight framed his face, twisted in anger, while Raven's small white-haired form stood calmly before him, her violet Rinnegan glowing faintly. Behind her, Hinata trembled, clutching her tiny hands together, her eyes wide and fearful. Raven's voice cut through the silence, calm but firm. "Oh, you think you can take my eyes? Well, I think you're a fool, and I'll defeat you in battle to show Hinata that a true woman can stand up to any man."

Hinata's eyes brightened instantly, awe and admiration shining in her young face. "You're so cool!" she blurted out, her cheeks flushing as she gripped the hem of her kimono.

Raven glanced back at her, eyes softening. "Don't worry, soon enough I'll train you up to be as strong as me, Hinata." She could practically see stars flickering in the girl's lavender eyes as she added quietly, "Stand behind me and don't get involved."

Renga's low laugh echoed across the courtyard. "You're confident for a child." His hand twitched toward his kunai pouch.

Raven moved first. Her small frame burst forward, clothing flaring, sandals barely touching the ground as she closed in the distance. Renga snarled, hurling a kunai with practiced ease. "You're a fool to charge your enemy head-on! Even for a girl your age, you should know better!"

Raven's voice came out light and mocking as she moved. "Who says I'm charging at you head-on?"

The kunai hit true—but the Raven that met it burst into smoke, a substitution log dropping where she stood. Renga's eyes widened. "A shadow clone? No—a substitution jutsu!" He spun just as a voice rang out behind him.

"Surprise!"

Her small fist connected squarely with his jaw. There was a sharp crunch as bone cracked and teeth flew through the air. Renga's body lifted off the ground and slammed into a nearby tree. The trunk splintered from the impact, snapping in half as he crumpled into the dirt.

Raven straightened, dusting her hands off. "Oh, I'm gonna have to wrap this up soon. The rest of the Hyūga elders might hear that. I gotta get out of here."

Renga groaned, dragging himself from the wreckage, blood spilling down his chin. "You little brat! You broke my nose and knocked out three of my teeth! How am I supposed to woo women with my good looks now?"

Raven crossed her arms, unimpressed. "Why don't you piss on the ground and check your own reflection before you talk about attracting any women, you weirdo?"

Enraged, he lunged forward, drawing two new kunai and spinning them between his fingers. "Do you think your bare fists can stand against my blades? I'll gouge out your eyes and use them for my own purposes! Perhaps Danzo would be interested in them too. After all, he's the reason I could infiltrate this village. The Root agents that were supposed to watch us were pulled back—thanks to the Third Hokage's trust and Danzo's interference. How else do you think we drugged the Hyūga clan?"

Raven's expression darkened, the faint glow of her eyes intensifying. "Thanks for the info," she said quietly. "But I'm already well aware of Danzo's actions."

Renga froze mid-step. "Wait—how do you know what Danzo's been up to?"

Raven's tone dropped to an amused whisper. "A true ninja never reveals her secrets—like you just did."

With a shout of rage, he brought both kunai down in a sweeping arc. Raven met his strike directly, her small fists glowing with the swirling mark of the Strength of a Hundred Seal. Metal clashed against chakra-enhanced skin.

The sound was deafening—shards of steel exploded in every direction. Renga's eyes widened as the broken fragments rained across the courtyard.

Raven looked down at her uninjured hands. "Thanks to my Strength of a Hundred technique, my fists are like steel. Your puny kunai can't hurt skin that's been turned to iron by concentrated chakra. And this seal lets me shatter your weapons."

Renga stumbled back, disbelief etched into his face. "Impossible! Only Tsunade Senju can use that technique!"

Raven tilted her head slightly. "Who says I'm not friends with her?"

He blinked, uncertain whether she was mocking him. "Who are you really?"

Her tone grew colder. "No one you need to worry about. Perhaps in the Pure Land, you'll see my husband and tell him I said hi."

Renga frowned, confusion flashing across his bloodied face. Before he could respond, Raven inhaled deeply, her hands flying through rapid seals.

"Fire Style: Phoenix Fury Jutsu!"

A roar split the night. A torrent of flame erupted from her mouth, forming into the fiery shape of a massive bird. Its wings unfurled, spreading high into the air, casting a blazing red glow across the compound.

Renga's eyes went wide as the phoenix screamed toward him, its body a living inferno. "Do you think I can't counter Fire Jutsu?!" he shouted, forming his own seals desperately.
