The courtyard was littered with smoke and bodies when the final Kumogakure Chūnin staggered forward, panting heavily, his kunai trembling in his hand. Raven's violet eyes shimmered faintly in the moonlight, the soft ripple pattern glowing with quiet fury. The man's lips twisted into a blood-like grin. "Even if I can't abduct Hinata," he said, "I'll take you with me. Our leader will finish the job. The drinks that our delegation brought for the Hyūga are drugged. Soon everyone will fall asleep, and we'll abduct the heiress successfully. My leader will be here any moment."
Raven tilted her head slightly, the steel in her voice cutting through his laughter. "Excellent. I'll be able to deal with that loser as well. To think he would dare lay a hand on Hinata—my new best friend."
Up in the tree, Hinata whispered to Raven's shadow clone, her voice barely audible. "I'm so happy right now."
The real Raven covered her face with one hand, exhaling in mild exasperation. "Seriously, girl, we're going to get you out a little bit more so that you don't get so embarrassed all the time."
Hinata's cheeks flushed red. "O-Okay," she mumbled shyly.
Below, the Chūnin snarled, forming rapid hand seals, his chakra flooding his arms until they glowed faintly with unstable light. "Even if I can't defeat you, I'll take you with me! If I reverse my chakra flow and detonate myself, I'll take you out in a glorious explosion that will destroy us both!"
Raven's expression didn't change. "Do you think I would give you that chance?"
The man froze mid-charge. His breath caught; as his chakra suddenly stopped moving. Every muscle in his body locked up. Terror flooded his eyes as he realized he couldn't move.
Raven's own hand trembled as a thin trickle of blood slid out from the corner of her eye. She wiped it away quickly and whispered under her breath, "I'm still too weak to use this technique too effectively."
The man strained against invisible pressure, voice breaking. "What the hell did you do to me?"
Raven's tone was quiet, almost conversational. "I used my Rinnegan to cut off your chakra flow and freeze your body. I can't hold it for long it causes a bit of backlash but I couldn't risk you hurting Hinata by blowing yourself up." She exhaled once, shaking her head. "I'm not quite strong enough to use this method safely yet"
The Chūnin's voice cracked with panic. "Y-You monster…"
Raven stepped closer until she stood just in front of him, her face calm, her small hands steady. "In your next life," she said softly, "try to be a better person."
She raised her kunai and pushed it through his throat in one fluid motion. The man's body jerked once, then fell went limp, collapsing in a heap at her feet.
For a long moment, only the sound of Raven's breathing filled the courtyard. She stared down at the corpse, her violet eyes dimming back to normal. "I definitely need to start exploring alternative techniques for fighting with my Rinnegan," she murmured to herself. "Perhaps puppets."
Raven turned towards the tree where her shadow clone crouched with Hinata and called, "It's okay—bring her back over here now."
The clone nodded, vanishing in a ripple of smoke as the real Hinata appeared beside Raven, clutching her small hands nervously.
Before Raven could say another word, a slow, deliberate clap echoed across the courtyard. She turned, her eyes narrowing. A tall man in a Kumogakure uniform stepped forward through the haze, his white hair tied back, his face half hidden by the rising mist. His sandals splashed through puddles of blood as he approached, calm and composed.
Renga Sazanami stopped at the center of the courtyard, surveying the carnage. "Well done, well done," he said smoothly, his tone half-admiring, half-mocking. "To think a three-year-old child could eliminate my most elite genin. But I," he added, tapping the insignia on his sleeve, "am a jōnin. Do you really think you can stand against me, little girl? I will abduct Hinata tonight. I will extract her Byakugan and unlock the secrets of the Hyūga bloodline—Konoha's precious sensor powers."
Raven stepped in front of Hinata, her posture unwavering. "You will never touch Hinata."
Renga's expression sharpened, a cold smile curling at the edge of his mouth. "Oh, do you think you can stand against a jōnin? Chūnin are ants beneath my feet."
Raven's voice was steady. "We'll see once we fight. You're a fool if you think I'll let you walk away from here."
Behind her, Hinata's small voice trembled. "Raven… is my father okay?"
Raven glanced back briefly, her tone flat but reassuring. "Yes—but it looks like that old fool got himself drugged, and half the Hyūga compound is asleep with him."
Renga chuckled darkly. "Ah, so the sedatives worked after all. I may not be able to kidnap an elders, but kidnapping a child will do. And you," he said, his eyes glinting, "you'll come too. Those strange eyes of yours intrigue me. I can't wait to dissect them."
Raven met his gaze, her expression hardening. "Oh, don't worry," she said quietly, chakra beginning to hum around her body. "I will show you exactly what they can do on your way down to hell."
