This feeling of writing the report yourself and then approving it yourself really is pretty great.
From this moment on, Lord Su Luo officially became the Immortal Blades' full-time combat consultant. His salary was equal to that of an S-rank Valkyrie, paid directly by Schicksal Headquarters, and all of his benefits would follow the S-rank Valkyrie standard as well.
After all, this was the first time Rita had handled something for Lord Su Luo. Naturally, she had to do it beautifully.
Walking out of the office area, Rita hugged the file in her arms, already impatient to go claim credit in front of Su Luo. It wasn't exactly ideal that she hadn't informed Lady Durandal beforehand, but once Lady Durandal saw Lord Su Luo's true strength, she definitely wouldn't mind. Besides, internal team matters like this were generally handled by Rita anyway, so the whole process had been entirely legitimate and properly within procedure.
Even the Overseer wouldn't be able to find fault with it.
The maid walked briskly toward the Immortal Blades' quarters. As Schicksal's strongest Valkyrie squad, the Immortal Blades naturally had their own exclusive dormitory area. After all, they undertook the most dangerous missions, so their待遇 and福利 absolutely had to keep up.
As she passed through the dormitory district, she happened to spot Alvitr animatedly gesturing with her hands while talking to several other Valkyries.
Why is she here?
Hadn't I told her to take Lord Su Luo around for a look?
Other people really are unreliable. In the end, I still have to do everything myself.
"Alvitr, what are you all talking about?"
The maid was in an exceptionally good mood today. With this arrangement, she could now stay by Lord Su Luo's side in a perfectly natural and proper way. Given enough time, she would definitely be able to make him forget Kiana, that not-so-useful piece of furniture.
Could Kiana possibly compare to her?
Obviously not.
Rita had considerable confidence in just how useful she was.
Because she was in such a good mood, even when she caught Alvitr slacking off, she didn't make much of it. Under normal circumstances, she definitely would have assigned her some "rough work" at the next team dinner as punishment.
"Vice-Captain, we were talking about the combat consultant. Everyone's very curious about it."
As soon as she heard that, Alvitr hurried over to Rita's side and saluted. The tool-Valkyrie blinked at Rita meaningfully, trying to signal that she hadn't come over here just to gossip. She was actually helping Su Luo prepare the ground in advance.
Others might not know, but Alvitr knew perfectly well that there was something special going on between Su Luo and the vice-captain. The vice-captain had practically told him everything without holding anything back. Knowing how to please her superior, Alvitr had come ahead of time to give the others a heads-up, so that they wouldn't openly make trouble for Su Luo.
"I see. Alvitr, well done. But where is Lord Su Luo?"
This girl really does know how to handle things.
Rita nodded approvingly at Alvitr, then immediately asked about Su Luo. Even so, that didn't mean she could just leave Lord Su Luo off to the side. If it were her, as a proper maid, she would never make that kind of mistake. Alvitr had a bit of instinct, but she still needed to work harder.
"Mr. Su went to visit the training room."
Alvitr answered, and one of the Valkyries standing behind her suddenly added:
"In the training room? Lady Durandal is in the training room today too."
That blonde brat… she really is strong.
Inside the training room, Su Luo's gaze had grown utterly serious. During his clash with Durandal, he had already discarded the last trace of contempt. If all the Valkyries in Schicksal Headquarters were at this level, then he absolutely could not afford to be careless. Taking this combat consultant position was clearly not going to be simple. Based on the strength she had displayed so far, she was already no weaker than the demon lords he had fought before.
Su Luo was shocked.
But over there, Durandal was even more stunned.
What exactly is wrong with this guy?
Strength like this that could shake heaven and earth could not possibly belong to some nobody. Durandal had already brought out her true strength, yet even so, she still hadn't managed to win. And from the look of things now…
she was actually the one at a disadvantage.
That was indeed the truth.
Although the boy opposite her was breathing somewhat unevenly, Durandal knew that her attacks had not really done anything to him. As for herself…
Durandal lowered her head slightly. There was a long tear in the black bodysuit she wore. Her snow-white skin and black sports bra formed a striking contrast. If that sword had been just a little longer, she would probably already have been wounded.
"I am Durandal. Also Bianka Ataegina. What is your name?"
She had already acknowledged the opponent before her.
He was an enemy harder to deal with than an Emperor-class—no, even a Judgment-class—Honkai beast. Faced with such an opponent, Durandal, who believed in the spirit of knighthood, was willing to offer him the highest respect. The girl lowered herself slightly, like a cheetah ready to pounce. Her fighting spirit still burned high.
She was definitely going to win.
"Su Luo."
The moment he spoke his name, the Valkyrie holding the knight's lance vanished from sight.
All that remained before him was the flashing tip of the lance.
Su Luo raised the longsword in his hand and used the flat of the blade to block Durandal's strike. But this time, Durandal did not withdraw. The small hands gripping the shaft of the lance erupted with astonishing power.
Break for me!
A crisp metallic cracking sound rang out.
The sword Su Luo used for defense instantly snapped in half under Durandal's blow, breaking right through the middle. The Valkyrie's momentum did not lessen as she continued lunging forward. But because she had committed all of her body and strength into that single attack, Durandal failed to notice that the instant the blade shattered, Su Luo had already let go of the hilt.
He merely twisted his body slightly, sidestepping Durandal's strike.
By the time the Valkyrie realized something was wrong, Su Luo had already stuck his leg out in front of hers.
Having thrown her entire strength into the charge, Durandal had no way to adjust. She pitched forward and crashed to the ground in a thoroughly awkward manner. Yet in the very instant she could have used the ground for leverage, she had already prepared her counterattack.
But how could Su Luo possibly give her that chance?
Just as Durandal tried to get up, she suddenly felt a weight press down on her. Su Luo pinned her with his knee and lower leg, preventing the Valkyrie from resisting, then seized the wrist of the hand holding the knight's lance and forced it above her head.
Durandal still had no intention of surrendering.
The girl clenched her left hand into a fist, preparing to strike.
But at that moment, Su Luo caught the spinning half of the broken sword in midair and pressed it against Durandal's throat.
The girl's body stiffened, and the small hand she had not yet swung froze in place.
Meanwhile, the boy looked down at the girl beneath him with an openly triumphant smile.
"Looks like… I won."
