Durandal pressed her lips together and said no more. The Valkyrie's azure eyes turned razor-sharp, and almost in an instant, her attack had already reached Su Luo.
She had wanted to teach this consultant a lesson, but to her surprise, the punch she threw was firmly blocked by Su Luo. His palm caught her fist head-on. From that exchange alone, Durandal immediately judged that he was stronger than an ordinary Valkyrie.
It seemed this consultant really was someone she would have to face with a bit of genuine strength.
He really does have some skill.
Su Luo was thinking the exact same thing.
He, too, became serious at once. He absolutely had to secure the job Rita had found for him. If he failed to establish authority now, then his position as consultant probably wouldn't stand for long. As expected of a Valkyrie from the Immortal Blades—she had real ability.
Both of them cast aside the contempt they had started with.
Durandal's gaze sharpened as she brought out her true strength, and the more they exchanged blows, the more astonished she became. This man's strength was practically unfathomable. Ordinary hand-to-hand combat didn't seem enough to take him down.
And amid that clash, Durandal was also becoming more and more excited.
At headquarters, aside from Rita, there was no one who could really trade blows with her. But now, perhaps, she could finally bring out a little of her real power.
Because her strength far surpassed the other Valkyries, Durandal's training at headquarters had always focused mostly on improving her physical conditioning. Actual combat training like this was exceedingly rare for her. This was the first time she had been able to display her true strength in a real exchange rather than through simulated drills.
Interesting.
Are all the Immortal Blades this strong?
While fighting Durandal, Su Luo was beginning to regret this whole thing. The girl before him was monstrously powerful, and in terms of sheer physical capability, he seemed to be slightly inferior to her. By now his arms and legs were already starting to ache.
Was this girl made of solid muscle from head to toe?
Didn't she feel pain at all?
In order to maintain the cool, detached aura expected of a consultant, Su Luo kept his face cold and said nothing. But in reality, he already wanted to rub his arms and legs from the pain.
He wasn't going to blow this, was he?
If this kept up, he really might end up being the one receiving the Immortal Blades' show of force. This was when Su Luo finally realized just how deep Schicksal's foundations ran. If even a random Valkyrie pulled out from nowhere was this formidable, then Schicksal's strength was far greater than he had imagined.
Wait a second.
If a random Valkyrie was already this strong, then wouldn't Rita, as vice-captain, be even more terrifying?
Su Luo began to doubt his own judgment. Back when he had first seen Rita…
Well, how should he put it? Although maids always gave off a reliable impression, deep down Su Luo had always subconsciously felt like she was the type who might fumble badly at some point.
Now it seemed that really had just been his own misconception.
If even the team members were this strong, then as vice-captain, she could probably only be described as unfathomable.
"It seems deciding the outcome with bare hands alone would be rather difficult. Since this is meant to be live combat training, Mr. Consultant, how about we remove the restrictions and use weapons instead? Don't worry—even with weapons, I'll still exercise restraint."
After another exchange, Durandal borrowed the momentum to leap far back. The beautiful face of the Valkyrie was slightly flushed—evidence that her body had fully warmed up. It had been a long time since she had fought someone hard enough to break into a sweat.
She took the initiative to propose continuing.
As far as martial arts alone went, she had already gotten her answer. Winning quickly was simply impossible. Up until now, Su Luo hadn't even been breathing hard.
It seemed that without using weapons, gaining victory in a short time would be difficult.
Rita really did well.
Just from the strength he displayed in that exchange, there was no problem at all with him serving as combat consultant for those girls.
"Of course. Don't worry, I won't hurt you."
Keeping a face like he'd just lost his parents, Su Luo could see the approval in Durandal's eyes. But what he wanted wasn't approval—it was awe.
He was supposed to be the great combat consultant. What kind of joke was it if he fought his future trainee to a draw?
If they kept going hand-to-hand, Su Luo would have to start channeling demonic power into his limbs, otherwise he really wouldn't be able to beat this energetic blonde girl. Since she wanted to switch methods, Su Luo naturally agreed.
After all, when dealing with demons, he rarely just charged in swinging his fists. The true hallmark of Su Luo as a demon hunter was the combination of cold weapons and firearms.
"Use this?"
Just as Su Luo was preparing to draw the Rebellion greatsword and give her a proper sword combo, Durandal tossed him a training longsword from the equipment room nearby. In her own hand, she held a training lance.
After throwing the sword to Su Luo, she asked the question, and only when she saw him nod did she charge again.
This clash was completely different from the one before.
With a knight's lance in hand, this was the true Valkyrie.
No good.
I can't keep hiding my strength anymore.
If this continues, I'm really going to overturn the cart.
Su Luo felt heavy-hearted. He had never expected that even an ordinary Valkyrie could push him to this point. This was shame—shame at his own negligence. Had he grown too relaxed just because he hadn't fought seriously in so long? He had always thought himself invincible, and because of that, the demon hunter had long since stopped being strict with himself.
If he wanted sweets, he ate them.
If he didn't feel like training, he skipped it.
And now, he couldn't even take down an ordinary Valkyrie.
If this continued, what would become of him?
His expression turned utterly serious.
Red demonic energy flowed from his palm into the training greatsword in his hand. The outstanding performance of the Valkyrie before him reignited the competitive spirit in the demon hunter's heart, a spirit that had long lain dormant.
Damn it, I have to win.
If he couldn't even beat the person he was supposed to guide, then how could he have the face to remain here as some kind of consultant?
Sorry.
You may be strong—
but I'm still going to win!
The demon hunter, convinced that his own abilities had regressed, never once considered that the opponent he faced was no "ordinary Valkyrie" at all.
While he was alarmed, Durandal was equally shaken.
Where on earth had Rita found this monster?
Durandal had always thought that she herself trained harder than almost anyone. Yet now, even after taking up a weapon, she still seemed unable to defeat him. That title of "strongest"… perhaps it had a little too much water in it after all.
Durandal's competitive fire was fully lit as well.
Su Luo had the pride of a demon hunter to protect, and she likewise had to defend her title as the strongest Valkyrie. And so, these two "monsters," both far beyond the level of ordinary people, truly began fighting in earnest inside the training room.
Isn't she just some ordinary Valkyrie?
Isn't he just some consultant picked up at random?
Let's see if I don't beat you until you cry!
