Chapter 58 - Monster Grade

Luck wasn't the only one there to save the day, though.

*Boom*

Green-colored lightning flashed and crackled as a blurred figure crashed into the ground.

Figures actually. Standing on a three-meter horned black wolf was another figure dressed in completely black armor.

It wielded a spear whose shaft seemed to be forged of obsidian, as its green eyes flared brightly with dangerous intensity.

"Crackle*

Lightning crackled, and in a flash, Asher disappeared from the wolf's back.

*Flash**Flash**Flash*...

Asher appeared in the middle of a hobgoblin squad, and they heard the sound of a blade piercing flesh.

*Thud**Thud**Thud*...

Like magic, heads were severed, and the bodies soon followed, devoid of life.

He disappeared in a flash, not even sparing time to admire his work, instead favoring to continue the spread of slaughter.

"..." Luck's team stared at Asher in amazement. Or rather, what they could make out as Asher, as he never seemed to be in the same place for more than a second.

"When the fuck did he get so fast?" Luke stared in awe at the black-armored undead. By now, he had already disengaged from the goblin chief, who was too busy looking at Luck, who was rapidly descending.

It sensed danger when it looked at the masked figure.

"Everybody, you know the plan!" Luck shouted suddenly to gain the group's attention.

And it worked because almost immediately they jumped!

Whether teammate or summon, without fail, all of them leapt into the air, much to the confusion of the goblins.

The danger the chief felt from Luck spiked considerably as he watched the humans they had been fighting abruptly leap into the air.

As he wasn't dumb. He immediately tried to follow their lead. Unfortunately for it, Luck was not too kind to allow that.

"!!!" Fear took hold of the chief as it felt something wrap around him, preventing it from fleeing.

Looking down, it saw several hands made of bone and shadows holding its legs down. The worst part, though, was that they were steadily growing in number.

And they weren't restricted to his legs either.

The chief slashed his ax with a frenzy in an attempt to rid itself from his terrifying restraints.

It was a futile effort; they just reappeared faster than it could destroy them. And he was already too late."

"Skeleton Bomb," Luck's voice resounded through the air, causing the villagers to shiver in fear. The smell of death had never felt so close before. "Chain Reaction."

*BOOM**BOOM**BOOM*...

Countless explosions erupted from the ground. Explosions flung earth, and the charred, disfigured corpses/body parts of numerous unlucky individuals in the settlement into the air.

*Boom*

The golem of bones, as well as those that escaped being blown up, landed, creating craters in the already disfigured ground.

This was Luck's plan from the start. Although he had plenty of faith in his team, he knew they could only hold the villagers at bay for so long.

Especially when he heard the Recall Horn.

Luck's plan was simple. The others distracted the goblins and became the center of attention. He would take Kira and the lightning wolves for his agenda.

Though he admitted they would be quite useful in the fight, they were even more useful to him because of a skill ever present in canines: [Dig].

It hurt his heart a bit to leave his team there when his abilities were most needed, but he had to stay strong. Luckily, he managed to gain something that would make the battle even smoother.

Two things, actually.

Like that, Luck had gained a King and Special grade monster.

Monsters had another quality that made them terrifying opponents. As they evolved, through the right circumstances, they could increase their 'grade'.

Monster grade was basically the determinant of the strength and potential of a monster.

The classification of grades included seven categories. Common, Special, Lord, Variant, King, Colossus, and Emperor.

A Common grade beast could never beat a Special grade. even if they were of the same rank. In fact, a Special grade monster was known to fight to be able to fight Common grades one to two ranks higher than it!

Although it did not show in their stats (except for their Health and Energy Capacity), they were at least five times stronger than a regular monster.

With the cycle going on like that, it was safe to say that an Emperor-grade monster was at least 35x stronger than a Common one!

(In return, though, their progression bar just got a lot steeper.) Luck thought with a sigh. He wasn't complaining, though. Their 'quality' had increased, making them even more valuable assets.

Standing on the shoulder of the now five-meter-tall Dwayne, he watched as the dust settled, revealing the damage that Luck had inflicted.

95% of the village population was dead. The remaining 5% sustained severe injuries. They were like sitting ducks waiting for their predators to come and feast.

The chief, on the other hand, was a different story altogether. It was barely standing as its bones were visible in most parts of its body that were not covered in charred flesh. It was barely breathing.

Unfortunately, that wasn't actually good news.

Luck watched with curiosity as the goblin's flesh began to slowly grow back and return to its original green color. It was slow, but compared to most A-rank monsters, it was godspeed.

(What kind of regeneration speed is this? I've only ever seen this in or-)

Luck didn't bother to finish his thought as he immediately activated Appraise.

*Ding*

Name: Unknown

Race: Orcling Bloodline: Goblin Chief

Class: Brawler

Rank: B [High-tier] Grade: Variant

Health:(2500/4000) Qi:(1000/3000)

Agility:150

Dexterity:150

Endurance:100

Intelligence:150

Vitality:200

(Well, that explains it.) Luck thought dryly as he looked at the chief's status.

The chief was a Variant born from an orc and a goblin. Like any orc, it gained their terrifying regeneration ability, which orcs are known for, though it seemed to be of lesser quality.

A Variant was a monster that was 20x stronger than a normal monster. Coupled with its speedy regeneration...

(I'm in for one hell of a fight.)

"Rooooooooooaaaaaoooooo"

The chief bellowed in a mixture of pain and anger as a red aura soon covered its body, followed by a frightening change in physique.

The Berserk skill. He was ready for it. What he wasn't ready for was-

""ROOOOOOOOAAAAARRRR""

The remaining goblins roared along with their chief as a red aura also covered their own bodies.

Luck watched incredulously. ( A group berserk skill? What kind of broken skill is that?!)

Luck's shocked expression quickly subsided as he took a stance and held Asta and the Darkfang. Asher appeared beside him as he brandished his spear in preparation.

Luck's eyes were cold and focused now. "You just reaffirmed my decision. "You must die. And quickly at that."
