*Vooooooooooommmmmmmmm*
"..."
Silence. It was silent, as the horn blared, pervading the air. Nobody moved, not even the goblins. That was until.
"Kiiiiarrrghhhh!!"
The chief suddenly roared in delight as it raised its axe as if proclaiming victory. The villagers quickly joined in, causing a frenzy of shrieks to rebound off the walls, creating an echo of voices that were enough to frighten a Saint.
And the group was frightened.
"I don't like this!" Harry exclaimed as he backed away in fear from the group of hobgoblins he had been fighting. Their fighting spirit had soared to new heights as if their....
"They've been given hope," Terra said flatly as she attempted to hide her current anxiety. "That horn is called 'The Recall Horn'. It's basically used to call everybody back to the village.
"..!" The three just stared at Tara as their mouths suddenly went dry.
Finally, Tara found her voice as she said. "Please tell me your wrong sister."
*Rumble*
Terra smiled wryly when she heard feet rushing. "I wish I were, sister."
"Kiaarrrryghhh"
Numerous goblins, hobgoblins, and other subspecies burst through the gates as they immediately joined the fray to fight for their land.
"Ok!" Luke exclaimed as he blocked a swing from the goblin chief, sending himself several meters back. His spell was getting weaker. He was on a timer after all. "Now is not the time to be stingy. Waste your fucking mana like there's no tomorrow. There might not be one if you continue being so conservative."
Several eyes twitched, but the group said nothing, knowing Luke was right.
Terra smiled evilly as she placed her hand on the ground."At least we go out with a bang, right, sister?"
"..." Tara just looked at her sister as if she were an idiot. (Why are you raising death flags at a time like this, girl?!)
Seeing she didn't get an answer, Terra closed her eyes to focus as she poured all her mana into one spell.
"Entangle: Root Swarm."
Numerous roots erupted from the ground, and with their caster's blessings, they ran amok through the ranks of the goblins.
It took a lot of mana just to cast the spell, and although it was considerably less, it also siphoned a huge chunk of mana to maintain it.
Luckily, she came prepared as she poured mana into the pendant on her neck. It glowed brightly in response, allowing Terra's hand to shockingly pass through it.
Her hands jerked randomly, as if rummaging through its contents until she finally pulled out a small vial filled with a blue-coloured liquid.
She downed the contents in one go, immediately feeling the effects as a warmth washed over her body.
Terra nodded in satisfaction as she felt her mana regeneration speed increase.
Terra looked up and, seeing her friends taking advantage of the opportunity she gave them, she decided to pour in a little more mana as several more roots emerged to join the fray.
Harry was having the time of his life as he ran rampant through the goblin villagers. With them being occupied or downright restrained by Terra's vines, all it took was one swipe of his gauntlets to send them to their ancestors.
"Icicle: Bullet Rain."
A magic circle appeared above him as numerous spikes constructed of ice rained down from above, piercing anything moving and reducing the little green men's numbers.
Harry smiled widely at the destruction he was causing as he suddenly ducked, allowing a large blade to pass over his head.
Not allowing the enemy to follow up, Harry sprang forward, cocking his fist back as it glowed dangerously with a clear energy.
"Haymaker"
*Boom**Crack*
Harry's fist connected with the hobgoblin's head, and the clear sound of bones cracking accompanied its subsequent crash several meters away, leaving it dead.
Several more goblins quickly replaced their brother as they lunged at the boy with clear bloodlust.
Unfortunately for them, their skulls broke in midair, piercing their brains and effectively killing them before they reached him.
Harry smiled widely as his battle intent soared wildly. "This is getting fun!"
Tara was like a shadow in the night as she flickered through the goblins, reappearing almost just as fast as she disappeared, leaving dead bodies in her wake.
Her movements seemed unhindered as she danced through the horde. That was until she abruptly came to a halt and flipped just in time to avoid a large thorn that passed by her.
Without even looking to see where the spell came from, Tara disappeared as soon as she touched the ground, reappearing behind a goblin shaman with her daggers already closing in on his neck.
*Clang*
Steel met steel as a hobgoblin had suddenly lunged in to defend against the blow, pushing Tara back.
(Smart of you to have a bodyguard) Tara thought as she flipped back to gain more, while switching to her pistols. "Unfortunately, you still underestimate me."
*Bang**Bang**Bang*...
The hobgoblin almost let out a cry of despair as several bullets shot towards it.
He not only had to defend himself, a task he felt barely confident doing, but he also had to ensure the damned magician remained unharmed while he dealt with enemies that were killing their brethren.
He was effectively screwed!
Tara watched with a sadistic smile as the hobgoblin struggled to defend against the bullets. He managed to parry a few, but more struck in many vital areas, while the others whizzed past him to attack the shaman.
It seemed the shaman also had his own defensive measures, as several vines that stood guard immediately deflected all the bullets directed at him while he continued to fire spells.
Which basically meant the hobgoblin's sacrifice was for nothing.
Tara smirked as she looked at the green monster, its body riddled with holes. She was about to make his sacrifice even more futile.
(Metal Manipulation) Tara called the skill in her head to increase her focus as she cast the skill.
Tara swiped her hand as all the bullets that had been deflected away suddenly stopped midair.
Without pause, the bullets all raced towards Tara, converging and merging until they formed a giant metal bullet.
The hobgoblin's body shook in fear. With its body looking like a Swiss cheese, he couldn't even dodge, even if he started moving at that moment.
It sighed deeply, seeming resigned to its fate.
*Splat*
The large bullet tore through the hobgoblin and headed toward the goblin shaman, flinging blood, guts, and many other body parts onto the floor.
The shaman's barrier broke like glass. Fortunately for it, the shaman proved it had prepared again as a root dragged him out of the way.
Although his escape plan only managed to prolong his life for a few seconds.
*Flash*
Its head flung into the air as Tara's dagger sliced through, allowing blood to spray.
*Boom*
Luke's body quickly followed the explosion as he flew several meters back, until he managed to correct his center of gravity, using flames to rush back into his fight with the goblin chief.
[Fire Infusion(Ep)]
[Surge]
Drastically increases the caster's physical attributes and fire element comprehension.
(Dependent on the caster's base comprehension
Duration: 30 minutes.)
[Augment]
Imbues any item the caster desires with the power of flames.
This was the spell he had gained sudden enlightenment on, and he allowed him to fight the chief on almost equal ground.
The problem was that the timer had almost ended, and he was already running out of gas.
He looked around to see that his friends weren't faring any better than him and were slowly being pushed back. The goblins just seemed endless.
(At this pace, the enemy will overwhelm us.) His expression changed to that of annoyance. "Where the fuck is my brother?!"
"Speak of the devil..."
A voice resounded from above, causing everyone to look up.
To the group's joy, a gigantic golem made of pristine white bones was seen falling towards them.
On the monster's shoulder, a lone being was seen standing casually as if gravity couldn't control him. A black cloak covered his body while a fox mask covered his facial features.
Somehow, he seemed more terrifying than the golem.
"And he shall appear!"
