Chapter 59 - Double Berserk?!

*Whoosh*

Luck and the chief blurred as they dashed towards one another.

Strangely, though, it wasn't Luck that was the first to attack the Orcling.

*Clang**Puchi**Puchi*

Asher's spear met the chief's axe, who had perceived the undead despite his speed. Nevertheless, it was expected, because a Rank C Lord-grade beast matching a high B-rank Variant would be a complete joke. Even if the former possesses an unnaturally high speed for its rank.

What it didn't expect was for two more spears made of lightning mana to pass through its defenses and strike it in the chest.

The chief's eyes turned red in pain.

(It seems not even your regeneration can save you from soul damage.) Luck thought with a sneer as he reached the orcling. Asher had proven once again how dangerous he was to enemies of all kinds, as his strikes passed through defenses of all kinds and attacked the soul.

And the monster chief of an unknown village was unlikely to have increased his soul defense.

Upon noticing Luck's arrival, the chief immediately swung his axe at him, intending to slice Luck in two.

(It seems it still considers me the bigger threat. Shadow Transfer.) Luck thought with a sneer, as much to the shock of the goblin, he disappeared, leaving in his place a shadow.

Reappearing behind the orcling's head, Luck raised his hand as several black and green spheres appeared behind. "Luckily, that was part of my plan all along."

*Boom*

Numerous Shadow and Gravity Spheres pelted the chief's back.

The sphere attacks were a peculiar bunch. As if they couldn't pack enough of a punch, their attack power was actually. The real core of the spells was the annoying status effects they inflicted on the enemy.

Shadow spheres had two uses, actually. One allowed the caster to teleport to the location where they threw the sphere. While the other robbed the enemy of their sight.

Luck could only use the one that imposed a status effect, which was actually very understandable. He already had three movement skills. It would just be useless for him to have another.

Robbing his opponent of its sight was a very useful skill to have, even though awakeners didn't necessarily need their sight, as they could sense their general surroundings with mana or qi; it would still tear a big hole in their fighting style.

Gravity sphere was rather straightforward. Anything the sphere hit would have the gravity pressure increased. Although the amount was minuscule per sphere, what would happen when scores of that spell hit the same thing for a period?

Luck switched places with his shadow again as he immediately swung his scythe at the disoriented chief's leg.

(Uncaring Rip.)

 *Flash*

"Roooooaaaarrrrr!!!"

Luck glanced at the agonizing orcling with indifference as he backed away, casually tossing the bone he had ripped out of the monster's leg.

This was another irritating skill he currently possessed. For both him and his opponent.

The skill basically allowed him to pull out any bone from his enemy's body. This skill was another godsend, as he could further weaken his enemies, giving him more chances to finish them off.

The problem was that this skill only had a 10% chance of working, which meant that Luck was figuratively betting all his chips in the casino when he used this skill.

It literally functioned on Luck.

Who was Luck, though?

He was the one whom fate had used a technique even his father didn't know about, and came out stronger than ever.

His own name was 'Luck'.

Which meant the skill's setbacks had little effect on him, allowing him to cast it successfully on his very first attempt.

With his bone missing, the goblin's balance, mobility, and all other functions had just been fucked sideways, making it stumble.

Seeing this, Asher did not waste the opportunity, and in seconds, dozens of holes had appeared in the chief's body.

Another figure, who had been slowly making his way here, also took advantage of the situation.

*Boom*

Dwayne's fist blazed with qi as it crashed into the orcling's face, sending it several meters back.

"Bone Garden."

Several bones, resembling carnivorous plants, emerged from the ground as they lashed at the chief with their rather large 'vines', in an attempt to pull it towards their hungry jaws.

(Although Bone Garden is a crowd control skill, it works perfectly on a large opponent like this.) Luck thought with a small smile.

"ROOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRR!!!"

The orcling roared in pain and humiliation.

In all its years of living, it had never thought that a bunch of midgets who could never stand against it individually were pushing it back?

It could not allow this!

It glanced at Luck with bloodshot eyes. This was all this boy's fault. Things were going his way until this boy showed up. Back then, it was a battle of attrition, and its side was clearly winning.

Now its numbers were fucked. It was safe to say that it was the only living member of the village.

(He must pay!)

Something strange began to happen to the orcling. The red aura around it flared as its body began to grow larger. Occasionally, popping sounds were heard as its bones rearranged themselves to suit its current physique.

Luck watched all of this with disbelief (Fuck! A double berserk state?! How the hell is this possible?! That isn't how Berserk works! And how does he get angry just like that! I just attacked him a few seconds ago!)

Luck had conveniently forgotten that in those few seconds, he had caused the orcling a lot more pain than Luke could do in minutes. It was too overwhelming for any mind to handle at once.

*Boom*

Luck's expression couldn't even change as the chief appeared in front of him, its axe already swinging for his neck.

*Whoosh*

The axe passed through Luck's shadow, creating a meter-deep crevice from air pressure alone.

Reappearing some distance behind the chief, Luck immediately retaliated as several hands constructed of shadows and bones wrapped around its body.

Even with that, it broke out in seconds, but seconds were all Luck needed to prepare a more cumbersome spell.

Pouring most of the mana in his core into his casting, Luck summoned several Shadow and Gravity Spheres, Bone Bombs, and Spatial bullets as he aimed all at the hateful chief.

"Barrage"

*Boom*

The explosion managed to knock the goblin a considerable distance while also blowing a portion of its skin, but that was it. The goblin leapt towards him once again.

Luck again switched places with his shadow as he clicked his tongue in annoyance. Fighting beings stronger than you was irritating.

The orcling turned around abruptly as its blade began to glow with a clear energy. It slashed out.

An arc of qi left the lade, appearing before Luck with speeds comparable to the chief itself, but leaving Luck barely enough room to slip past unharmed.

The chief slashed with fervor, sending more qi arcs and creating an inescapable net, designed to dice their victims like mincemeat.

Luckily, though, the necromancer's hours in learning Vector Manipulation were not in vain.

Luck waved his hands like a mad conductor, as the blasts slowly began to veer off course to give Luck enough space to dodge.

A stalemate was born as the orcling continued to dish out his attack while Luck dodged.

(I can't continue like this!) Luck thought in panic as sweat fell off his face.

He had just recently learnt the spatial skill, and now he was blocking attacks from a B-rank monster.

His mana was burning up like fuel, and the only thing saving him was his Mana Regeneration.

A gargantuan spear of bones suddenly struck the goblin's axe, bringing its relentless assault to a halt.

Asher quickly followed up as several lightning bolts struck the monster from the sky while he zipped around, inflicting minor cuts here and there.

Luck smirked as he switched again with his shadow, reappearing to see a massive grin on the orcling's face and an axe blade already beside his neck.

In a panic, Luck teleported again, but this time with the power of space as he appeared beside the orcling's neck, his two weapons poised to behead the monster.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans.

Feeling danger, Luck activated Gravity Wave, causing a ring of condensed gravity mana to rapidly expand, with him at the center.

That broke in milliseconds as the chief's own wave of qi collided with it and Luck, sending the boy crashing into the stone walls.

Luck spat out a mouthful of blood as he fell to the ground in pain.

But his troubles were not over yet. The chief had appeared beside him. And he had a feeling it was here to finally finish the job.
