No amount of resistance could stem the tide. Even War Machine, soaring through the air, was brought crashing down by a single axe blow. The rest fared no better, soon finding themselves locked in a brutal, losing battle.
Though these were Wakanda's elite soldiers, far superior to ordinary men, they faced alien monstrosities that even the superheroes struggled against. The ordinary Wakandan soldiers suffered catastrophic casualties.
"I really think they should study modern warfare tactics," Captain Rogers remarked. "This head-on charge is just suicidal."
"Captain, don't forget you're the one leading the charge," Black Widow Natasha retorted.
Her words left Captain Rogers speechless for a moment.
Meanwhile, in Hydra's castle in Sokovia, Wanda and Quicksilver Pietro exchanged worried glances. The battle was terrifying.
Even with their powers, they felt overwhelmed by the scale of the conflict.
Especially for Quicksilver Pietro, killing a few alien monsters was easy. But what about an endless horde? What if Thanos's terrifying lieutenants joined the fray?
The situation immediately became dire.
But just then, an unexpected reinforcement arrived. With a crash of the Bifrost, a massive axe swept through the air—it was Thor, wielding Stormbreaker, crackling with unimaginable lightning power.
"Thanos, come out here!"
Thor roared, his body erupting in a blinding display of terrifying lightning.
Fueled by the pain of losing his beloved, Thor unleashed all his fury here.
Only now did Thor reveal the true extent of his transformed power—far greater than when he first arrived, yet still woefully insufficient against Thanos.
Without Stormbreaker, he stood no chance.
The stark contrast between the other superheroes struggling to survive against the monsters and Thor's overwhelming power was a testament to his terrifying might.
Watching from beyond the screen, Thor clenched his fists, thoroughly enjoying the spectacle.
The previous scenes had been so oppressive that he almost couldn't breathe.
In the vision, the heroes were still locked in a desperate battle against the alien monsters, fighting with everything they had, while Vision's surgery continued.
Despite the heroes' best efforts, they struggled to hold back the relentless tide of alien invaders.
Amidst the chaos, Captain Rogers even found a moment to reunite with his old friend Thor, who introduced him to Groot.
But just then, Thanos's alien fleet launched a surprise attack.
Faced with this dire situation, Wanda finally couldn't restrain herself and intervened. However, this was exactly what Proxima Midnight had planned, allowing her to instantly locate Vision. The situation had now reached its most critical point.
Vision's defenses also began to crumble.
The Royal Palace guards proved utterly ineffective against Corvus Glaive.
In the final moments, Vision personally intervened, seizing Corvus Glaive and whisking him away.
The group watching the vision, especially Black Widow Natasha, felt a surge of regret. She thought about her counterpart on the Sacred Timeline, how indecisive she had been. Why hadn't she simply taken down Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight back then?
That version of her hadn't realized just how dire the situation could become.
She hadn't realized how formidable the aliens were, which was why she had let Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive go. Now, the consequences were coming back to bite her.
During the battle, only Bruce Banner, clad in the Hulkbuster Armor, came to help, but it was utterly useless. With two members of the Black Order present, the others were already stretched too thin.
They were completely outmatched.
"Hulk! Hulk! I know you like to make a grand entrance at the last minute, but this is it, man! This is the final moment!"
While getting beaten up, Bruce Banner tried to persuade Hulk to come out and fight from inside the Hulkbuster Armor.
But it was clear that Thanos had completely crushed Hulk's pride. Even in this dire situation, he refused to come out, acting like a child who had been beaten into submission.
"Hulk! Hulk! Hulk! Hulk!" As Bruce Banner roared, Hulk materialized for a fleeting moment, only to refuse with a furious "No!"
In the end, Bruce Banner had to take matters into his own hands. Using the broken arm of the Hulkbuster Armor, he lifted the enemy into the air and ground him to death with Wakanda's energy shield.
Meanwhile, Corvus Glaive had already pierced Vision with a single strike, and was moments away from victory when Captain Rogers arrived and intervened, saving Vision just in time.
With Captain Rogers' assistance, Vision impaled Thanos with Corvus Glaive's spear, replicating the very scene where he himself had been pierced.
The battle raged fiercely, with everyone fighting with all their might.
But then, an overwhelming pressure surged through the forest, and a terrifying sight unfolded: Thanos had arrived.
Having just dealt with Tony Stark, Spider-Man Peter Parker, Doctor Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos materialized.
He had teleported directly using the Space Stone, and his mere presence alone filled the heroes with dread.
Viewers outside the scene glanced at the Infinity Stones on his Gauntlet and immediately understood: this Thanos must be the one who had already fought half the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
The green Time Stone was clearly visible on his Gauntlet.
Everything became clear: he had seized five Infinity Stones and now only one remained—the Mind Stone, atop Vision's head.
The battle had reached its final, most intense stage.
"Captain, it's him!" Bruce Banner said into his communicator to Captain Rogers.
Captain Rogers raised his shield and declared, "Stay sharp! Stay alert!"
Thanos advanced step by step, radiating an aura of overwhelming dominance, as if he alone could encompass them all. With the Time Stone merged, he became even more terrifying, his presence nullifying all their attacks.
Bruce Banner charged forward in the Hulkbuster Armor, only to be sealed against the mountain wall by Thanos. The others' attacks fell uselessly, unable to halt his advance.
"He's... stronger," Tony Stark muttered.
The others nodded in agreement. He had become truly more terrifying.
Before acquiring the Time Stone, there had been a sliver of hope they could resist him. Now, even that last hope had vanished.
Meanwhile, Vision, watching this unfold, realized his time was running out. His plan to safely remove the Mind Stone had been sound, but Thanos hadn't given him the time.
So, his only remaining option was to destroy the Mind Stone. Though he would die, at least the world would survive.
Otherwise, not only would he perish, but half the world's population would die with him. That would be a death in vain. More importantly, Wanda might be harmed, a pain he couldn't bear. Now, having become like any other living being, he understood love, desire, and sacrifice.
"Wanda!" Vision called out. "It's time!"
"No, I can't!" Wanda immediately shook her head. The request was too cruel.
"They can't stop him, but we can!" Vision took her hand and spoke earnestly. "Look at me—your power can destroy this stone!"
"I won't!" Wanda refused instantly.
"No, you must, Wanda! Please!" Vision pleaded.
If he could, he wouldn't want to die either, but he knew there was no other way. He was going to die anyway.
Either Thanos would crush him and take the Mind Stone, or Wanda would destroy the stone and kill him. Either way, it ended with his death.
If that was the case, he might as well make his death meaningful. At least half of humanity, including Wanda, would survive.
To those watching the scene unfold, Vision now appeared indistinguishable from a normal human, no longer resembling a robot at all. He felt love, understood sacrifice—qualities many humans failed to possess.
"We're running out of time!" Vision gripped Wanda's hand and pressed it against his face.
Wanda shook her head, her face etched with grief. She had already realized the horrific consequences, but she had no other choice.
"You can do it!" Vision said. "You can do this. If he gets that Mind Stone, half the universe will be destroyed. It's not fair, and it shouldn't fall to you, but only you can do it. It's okay, you won't hurt me. Because I can only feel you!"
He knew perfectly well how excruciating this would be for Wanda, how it might inflict unimaginable trauma on her mind and body. But he had no other choice.
The Mind Stone was incredibly durable, not something just anyone could destroy. Only Wanda, with her Chaos Magic, could accomplish this.
By now, even Wanda knew this sacrifice was unavoidable. If Thanos obtained the Mind Stone, Vision's sacrifice would have been in vain, and everyone who had died protecting him would have died for nothing.
With no other options, Wanda began to weep uncontrollably as she unleashed her Chaos Magic, attempting to destroy the Mind Stone atop Vision's head. Meanwhile, everyone else scrambled to buy time and hold back Thanos's advance.
