Chapter 288 - Wakanda Fights the Most Primitive War with the Most Advanced Weapons

It was clear that after Civil War, Captain Rogers had settled Vision here to keep him safe from Tony Stark. Over time, Vision had gradually made this place his home.

The explanation was almost self-evident.

Tony Stark understood this as well, but he chose to remain silent. The rash decision he'd made in a fit of rage was entirely different from the calm response he'd adopted later; they were not the same thing.

Sometimes, whether for friendship or for a greater cause, one had to learn to turn a blind eye.

In the scene, everyone was preparing, and the palpable sense of impending doom, like the calm before a storm, was overwhelming.

The scene shifted to Vision lying on a platform, undergoing a scan.

"This is a polymorphic architecture with a polycrystal structure!" Princess Shuri, Black Panther T'Challa's sister, exclaimed in astonishment.

As a super-genius, she was deeply intrigued by this complex structure, something she hadn't expected to encounter.

When the Mind Stone was fully scanned, her eyes filled with even greater curiosity.

"Exactly! We need to operate on each neuron independently!" Bruce Banner explained to Princess Shuri.

"Why not just reprogram the neural synapses and operate on them simultaneously?" Shuri asked.

"Because... we never thought of that!" Banner admitted directly. He wasn't a specialist in this field; he was a physicist with only a superficial understanding of coding.

"This technology..." Tony Stark observed Shuri's scanning and the formation of the holographic projection, and he had to admit it was quite impressive.

The level of technological advancement in Wakanda was evident even from this brief glimpse.

Though he'd never considered himself the only genius in the world, he had to concede that this young woman was truly remarkable.

What was even more remarkable was that such an advanced nation existed in an African country. The "black technology" that was so hyped up elsewhere seemed almost commonplace here.

"You've all done your best," Princess Shuri said calmly.

"Then can you do it?" Wanda asked, her voice trembling.

She was terrified; her lover's life was at stake. They had only just confirmed their relationship; how could they be separated like this?

"Yes, but there are two trillion neurons in the brain. Even the slightest deviation could cause a cascading failure in the neural pathways!" Shuri tried to explain to everyone. "I need time, brother!"

"How much time?" Captain Rogers asked, rubbing his temples.

"As much as possible!"

Shuri wasn't sure how long it would take, so she could only say that more time was better.

Just then, an alarm blared—Thanos's army had arrived.

A massive warship pierced the atmosphere and crashed down toward Wakanda, but in the next instant, it was blocked by the energy shield.

"This is the technology I need!" Tony Stark exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement. He hadn't expected the future, just a few years away, to have advanced so far!

This was exactly the kind of energy shield technology he wanted. Although his armor was already very sturdy, who wouldn't want an extra layer of security?

Moreover, this technology could be used not only on his armor but also on his company and home, ensuring they wouldn't be easily destroyed.

From these details, it was clear that the African nation of Wakanda possessed technology far more advanced than his own—not just on par with the United States, but far surpassing it.

"So, did humanity develop civilization from bronze, or from vibranium? How could there be such a vast gap?" Bruce Banner couldn't help but exclaim.

Everyone else felt equally speechless. If Wakanda didn't truly exist, they would never have believed it.

This revelation explained why Nick Fury, despite being considered a king of the underworld on Earth, had never known about Wakanda's true power.

At best, the vibranium circulating on the black market had only alerted him to the existence of such a nation, nothing more.

The country had been hidden in plain sight, right under his nose. The energy shield, combined with chameleon-like cloaking technology, had been more than enough to conceal this small nation.

However, the ships in the footage were merely a fraction of Thanos' fleet, crashing down like massive meteorites in a terrifying display.

These were space transport pods, each carrying countless roaring monsters within.

Outside the frame, Tony Stark's expression grew grim. The footage confirmed that Thanos' army and fleet possessed space-jumping technology, allowing them to transport such vast forces to Earth in such a short time to seize the Mind Stone.

His earlier concerns about the Chitauri had been well-founded. A civilization capable of such power could never truly be so easily defeated.

Just as they had suspected, Thanos still feared the Ancient One and Odin, so he only sent the Chitauri to launch a probing attack.

He didn't even need the Cosmic Cube; he could have sent his full army to invade. After all, they were a true interstellar civilization capable of spatial jumps.

Against such a surprise attack, Earth had no defenses. It wasn't even a true interstellar civilization.

Facing the invading Thanos's army, Captain Rogers instructed Wanda, "Wanda, the moment the stone is retrieved, destroy it immediately!"

"Understood!" Wanda replied instantly.

She was also extremely anxious, but she knew that panic would be useless.

Meanwhile, Wakanda had already deployed all its combat forces to the city's border, preparing for battle.

Then they saw a baffling sight: a group of African men wielding spears, a stark contrast to the advanced civilization they had expected.

The jarring disconnect left them speechless.

Now they understood why Lin Feng had been complaining.

They would have complained too.

But if Wakanda was this level, wouldn't Atlantis, their equally renowned counterpart, be similar?

This was truly hard to judge!

The battle erupted immediately. After countless transport pods landed, swarms of monsters charged forward, relentlessly attacking the energy shield, even sacrificing their lives to do so. They didn't care—or rather, these were creatures manufactured for war, utterly fearless.

When the monsters' numbers reached a critical point, the energy shield began to fail. More and more creatures pierced through the barrier.

The creatures surged from all directions, overwhelming the defenses.

The scene was terrifying.

It became even more bizarre when it became clear the entire defensive line relied on primitive warriors wielding spears.

Despite their advanced energy shields, how could these creatures truly be stopped?

However, everyone soon realized they were wrong, as these spears could actually fire laser blasts. In other words, they were gun-spear hybrid weapons.

"But how do you aim these things? Do they even have auto-targeting?" Hawkeye Barton grumbled.

"This feels just like the Chitauri all over again," Tony Stark muttered inwardly. "Both sides have incredibly advanced technology, but with all this black technology, couldn't they come up with something more... normal?"

The technological gap between these two sides was so vast that no nation on Earth could compare. Yet, despite possessing such astonishing technology, what were they doing? Engaging in hand-to-hand combat!

None of the starship battles, orbital bombardments, or other sci-fi weaponry one might expect from interstellar warfare were present.

It looked more like a primitive human battle.

As everyone fell silent, they noticed the tide of the battle was turning increasingly against Wakanda—or rather, against Earth's forces.

"Captain, if these monsters get behind us, Vision will be in danger!" Bruce Banner warned.

"So we have to hold them back here!" Captain Rogers immediately decided.

The others had no choice but to follow suit. They activated their shields, diverting the monsters' charge toward their position.

The goal was to buy as much time as possible for Princess Shuri's surgery!

A brutal close-quarters battle erupted as the superheroes, leading Wakanda's army, clashed head-on with the swarming alien forces.

Fists met flesh in a visceral, high-octane brawl.

The visual spectacle was overwhelming.

Yet something felt deeply wrong.

"Even if they've opened a breach, we don't need to engage in hand-to-hand combat. We could just bombard them!" Tony Stark couldn't help but interject. "At the very least, we could fire first and try to eliminate as many of these creatures as possible before closing in."

The others nodded in agreement. Even those without military backgrounds understood the logic.

"But this is the honor of warriors!"

Wonder Woman Diana declared.

The group couldn't help but glance at Wonder Woman Diana. Well, she was a superhero with the soul of an Amazonian warrior.

Her perspective was certainly... unique.
