I pulled down a patch of cloud from overhead and sat down on it before controlling it to move out back into the calm belt. It was a place of absolute stillness that no wind blew in and no currents flowed. Nobody had a clue why it was like that but it was a popular theory that it was done artificially by the world government somehow over eight hundred years ago. I honestly didn't care much either way personally and merely saw it as an impressive sea structure.-
Just as the red line stretched around the world so too did the calm belt. Technically there was two calm belts as there was one on each side of the grand line. Anyways the reason I wanted to come here for my sea king hunt was simple, the calm belt was an absolute danger zone as sea kings populated the area in massive numbers. The place was where they came to breed according to a lot of people but I doubted there was much evidence of that since getting in these waters was a death sentence.-
Trespassing into the area without either a specially made ship or some way to deter the beasts was little better than signing away your life. As if to prove that point the sea beneath my little cloud began to size as a massive black and white striped eel monster big enough to swallow a bus rose up with it's jaws open to eat me. I didn't bother even getting up from my seat and lazily pointed at the closing jaws. A pillar of lightning shot from my hand and electrocuted the beast instantly.-
Before it could fall back into the sea I reached out and stored it within my inventory. It took up all the free space but that was fine as I'd be taking it out again soon enough anyways. Before another sea king could try and come at me I rose to the clouds in a flash and using the vivre card headed back towards Whitebeards ship. I had to stop periodically to readjust my course but even then it only took me about an hour to actually find and touch down on the ship. The crew looked at me in surprise when I arrived but I ignored them and without delay removed the corpse from my inventory.-
The massive ship tilted heavily under the sudden weight but managed to handle it fine.
"Gurarara! Not bad brat, efficient!" Whitebeard said with a laugh as the crew got to work breaking down the corpse for it's ingredients.
"I didn't really have to wait long for any of the things to come at me once I arrived. Honestly it took me more time finding your ship again than it did completing the hunt." I said with a shrug.
"Told you it wouldn't be much of a challenge with your fruit." he said with a grin.
I nodded before heading out towards the crew to find someone to spar with so I could temper my haki. Ace looked eager to spar again but I wanted some variety since getting too familiar with someone's style was actually counter productive. In the end I just started randomly choosing people to spar with. Even the weakest person on the ship had solid haki after all and I even found a few who got the fruits I'd been trading with Whitebeard. The salt logia user, girl named Katelyn, used her powers to manipulate the salt content of the sea thus giving her a sort of control of the sea itself.-
When on a ship in the middle of the ocean this was a ridiculously powerful ability. She wasn't very strong physically but her powers and pretty good observation haki made for a nice warm up. The biggest downside she had was that she was limited in the amount of seawater she could manipulate so my own attacks got through even in a weakened way. A hilariously bad matchup was actually with Juzo who ate the diamond paramecia.-
I don't mean for me either as his fruit gave him a powerful defense against most attacks but the problem was that carbon conducts electricity REALLY well. Diamonds were basically nothing BUT carbon. As he found out quickly his prized defense was actually his worst enemy against me. After spending the day sparring with anyone and everyone who I could get to agree my progress was staggeringly good. Checking my own status proved as much.-
