Cherreads

Chapter 138 - Red

The less said about the lovers spat that had been running in the background of history between two immortals the better. You could from all this understand that I was hesitant with this contact. As the white screen began to change to show my new customer I couldn't help but be left speechless. There on the other end of the connection was a young girl who appeared about my age with short black hair with red highlights and pale flawless skin, who happened to be reaching into a cookie jar.-

"I've heard of getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar but this is bloody ridiculous." I said shaking my head at the scene.

The girl was spooked and quickly hid her cookie laden hands behind her back as she turned to look at me in surprise and confusion.

"Who are you? What's with that outfit? Why do you have an eyepatch? Are you a pirate?" she quickly rattled off several questions before I could even answer and I helplessly waited for her to be done before speaking.

"I am Alexander Drake, Multiversal merchant and wizard in training. At your service." I said with a grand flourish.

"A wizard! Like the bedtime stories!?" she squeaked excitedly and tried to grab me but the screen thankfully didn't work that way.

"In training but yes of a similar sort to those you'd find in stories. Also I'm not actually in your world, the screen is just a projection of my image from my world to yours." I said patiently.

"That's so cool! Yang is gonna flip when she hears about this! Wait! I can tell Yang right?" she asked with a worried frown.

"Not to worry you can tell whoever you like. They won't be able to see me though or even notice when you try and contact me since time stops when it happens." I said honestly.

"Time stops seriously? That's so cool!" she said excited again.

"I'm surprised you didn't notice actually. That's why the world is grayed out if you look around and why there's no sounds either. For you time moves forward but for the rest of the world it's on a standstill." I said calmly.

"I can steal sooo many cookies like this!" she said with a greedy expression.

I chuckled "I suppose you could use it for that but I'd prefer if you didn't. Contacting me for something like that all the time would bother my studies." I said seriously.

"Emergencies only got it!" she said with as much seriousness as she seemed able to summon.

"Not just emergencies. I am a merchant after all and so you shouldn't hesitate to contact me if you want something or have something to sell." I said calmly.

"Okay! So like can I learn magic too? Please?" she asked giving me her biggest puppy dog eyes with those striking silver peepers.

I shook my head "Not right now. As I said I'm still in training. I could give you the ability to learn magic but I can't teach it to you so it's better if we don't. Magic without proper control can be very dangerous." I said seriously.

"Ah man! Having magic would be so cool!" she whined but accepted it for what it was easily enough.

"While I won't give you magic just yet that doesn't mean I can't give you anything magical." I said with a grin.

Her face lit up with a thousand wat smile like christmas came early.

"Gimme gimme gimme!" she said eagerly.

I just chuckled at her excitement and sent her the thing. When she got it the look of confusion on her face was priceless.

"A scarf?" she asked bewildered.

"Indeed, but a magical scarf that is always warm and never needs to be washed. I know it's not super amazing or anything but it's a practical piece of magical enchantment all the same." I said with a smile.

"At least it's red." she muttered with a disappointed look.

"Ah right I suppose I should also give you something to pass to your father or uncle. Those two will understand how valuable it is." I said as I also sent over a vial of wiggenweld.

She looked at it curiously "A potion?" she asked and I nodded.

"Wiggenweld. A minor injury potion. Bruises, cuts and scrapes gone in an instant. It will barely work on larger injuries but it can help stabilize them which is always handy. Also I'm going to send you some system coins. You can use these to contact me on your own initiative. All you need to do is hold them and say my full name." I explained as I sent over two hundred coins.

She looked at the coins in awe for a bit as they shimmered in her hand and I said my farewells before cutting the contact and saving her as such in the system. If my guess was right she should be about my age at the moment which meant she didn't exactly have access to anything worth trading other than aura and I was going to work my way up to that point. She was definitely going to go brag to everyone she knew and if I asked for Aura out the gate that would not paint a good picture of me at all.-

Perhaps her sister might not realize the problem with that request but her dad and uncle absolutely would. Both were hunters themselves even if her dad was technically retired. They were also part of one of the immortals factions and so actually understood that magic was real and what a wizard with it might mean. Needless to say this was absolutely getting back to that immortal, in fact I was counting on it.
