Ozma(the immortal in question) was an interesting figure as in any depiction of immortality I had seen in various media his was the closest to a genuine curse. I don't mean in that it was supposed to be one but for his personality originally it was cruel in a unique way. In his first life he was the dashing prince charming heroic type. You can imagine then how cruel it is that his form of immortality is being reborn into someone elses body and slowly subsuming their soul until only he remains every time his previous body is killed.-
The worst part is he doesn't WANT to do it, it just happens over time. Of course he could just directly suppress his bodies original host until they vanish but even after multiple lifetimes of this state of existence some of his original heroic nature remains. He is also the only other person in that world that had the gods original form of magic. The reason for this is tragic honestly. Salem, the woman cursed to live forever after trying to trick the gods was his ex-wife and he was the reason she did what she did to begin with.-
That's right, in an extra cruel twist the gods all but guaranteed that this husband and wife pair would end up at each others throats for almost all time. The way they did this was simple, four artifacts. The gods sent down four artifacts that when gathered together would summon the gods back to the world to judge humanity again. Ozma wanted to make humanity worthy of the gods again and Salem wanted to destroy the artifacts and rule the world without the gods out of spite.-
To be fair though she wasn't technically in her right mind since she had tried to loophole her own immortality. See the god of light and life was the one who cursed her so she thought she could use the opposite power to cancel it out and kill herself. She flung herself into the pools of Grim that held the dark gods concentrated power of death and destruction. Rather than die however she was corrupted with the unending desire to see things killed and destroyed while still being immortal. Having the gods original form of magic on top of that and now direct control and power over the creatures of Grim since she was technically now one herself.-
Nasty break up to say the least and had culminated into a sort of tug of war between the two immortals factions throughout history as a result. Needless to say Ozma would have access to things no normal person would due to millennia of faction building and his original magic. My hope was getting access to that through Ruby eventually. My long term plan is honestly very simple, collect as many magic systems and powers as I can onto myself. Eventually I literally won't have any limits because any one system had another might not, also they may fuse into something superior to the sum of it's parts.-
For now though I chose to go back to my usual life. Christmas break was due to begin soon so all the professors minus Snape were ramping down their lessons and homework. The break was two weeks long so not terribly long but enough to serve as a good pause to learning. Malfoy had been too busy mocking Harry and getting butthurt about Slytherin losing the game to Gryffindor to bother me and I was A-Okay with that. Today was the second to last day before the break and the prick was picking fun of Harry about being unwanted at home loudly after class. -
"I do feel so sorry" he paused to eye Harry and I "For all those people who have to stay at Hogwarts for christmas because they're not wanted at home." he said while his cronies chuckled.
"Metus forma." I said casually as I flicked my wand at Malfoy and his two cronies.
The three of them began to scream and perform panicked actions like they were trying to beat off something no one else could see with terror written all over their faces.-
Snape heard the commotion and came out of the classroom in a hurry with a dark expression. Upon spotting the source of the commotion his expression further darkened as he firmly used the general counter spell on them freeing the three from the illusion trapping them.-
"Explain, now!" he demanded venomously the three as everyone else watched on in interest.
"That was my doing professor." I spoke up calmly before Malfoy could try and pin it on Harry like the look on the boys face said he was about to.
"What exactly possessed you to use such a vicious curse on your fellow students?" the professor demanded with narrowed eyes.
"Malfoy was picking at the fact neither I or Potter have parents. I took exception. The spell I used was merely an illusion however, a harmless trick." I said honestly.
"Ten points from Ravenclaw. I expected better of you than petty nonsense like this. See to it that it doesn't not repeat itself. Am I understood?" he asked firmly and I nodded.
"I understand professor." I said and left as he dismissed me.
"Bloody hell I thought you'd get detention for sure! What even was that anyways?" Ron said curiously as he and Harry walked over with Hermione bringing up the rear.
"The fear manifestation charm. An illusion spell that tricks the mind into showing the victim their worst fears. Think a boggart but in spell form and invisible to all but the victim. Harmless of course but more than enough to teach a lesson." I explained calmly.
