June 1st.
Ben got into the pre-downloaded "The Witcher: Wild Hunt" as soon as possible.
To be able to play this game on that day, he even took a day off work.
Of course, the goal was to play the game, and the excuse was that he was still a kid.
Even though he was in his early thirties, he still had the heart of a child.
And with that child's heart still beating, he was still a kid. As a kid, isn't it okay to take a break and play games on Children's Day?
It's totally okay!
But the only thing that made Ben feel a little strange was that this time, Nebula Games didn't release a VR theme to go with it for some reason.
To play "The Witcher: Wild Hunt", you just went through the portal in the Nebula World game.
And another thing that surprised Ben was that the game actually required real-name identification.
That was really odd.
"This game seems to have something special about it, and not just a little something," Ben thought to himself before entering the game.
After all, only a few of Nebula Games' titles had similar setups.
As soon as the game unlocked, Ben jumped right in.
Next, he was very happy because he saw something.
That was the difficulty selection!
"Nice! This immediately rules out it being a 'Souls-like' game," Ben said with a happy smile, looking at the difficulty selection options.
Usually, "Souls-like" and other really hard games don't let players choose the difficulty, like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Monster Hunter.
Of course, some games with difficulty options are extremely hard on the highest difficulty, even harder than the Souls games.
Like "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and "Uncharted," but they are also very easy on the easy difficulty.
So seeing the difficulty selection in "The Witcher: Wild Hunt," Ben quickly ignored the two easiest difficulties at the bottom.
But this time, he improved a little. He didn't choose the highest difficulty, but the second highest, "I want to sweat a little."
As soon as he confirmed the difficulty, orchestral music and narration filled his ears.
'I can see you gathered before me... hungry... panicked... holding your babies close...'
'Emperor Emhyr's armies stormed our lands... attacking every fortress between here and the Blue Mountains.'
'Quick and unforgiving, cities fell one after another. People of the North, you are in mortal danger! Your kings have failed you, so you turn to the gods!'
'But did you not beg? Did you not kneel and pray?'
'Instead, you cried and wailed: Why have the gods abandoned us?'
'This is all the result of our failures, a long time ago!'
'Long, long ago, our world merged with another, causing a huge change. Scholars call it the Conjunction of the Spheres...'
'The gods allowed evil forces to invade our world. That cataclysm left behind much evil residue, like magic...'
'But we didn't forbid magic. Instead, we studied this evil ancient power to increase our own power and wealth!'
'And the monsters that came to our doorstep, the remnants of the Conjunction of the Spheres... trolls, ghouls, werewolves? Did we drive them out with swords? Or did we pass the responsibility to others?'
'We left it all to the witchers... these misguided children learned dirty witchcraft and underwent blasphemous rituals to mutate their bodies.'
'Unable to tell good from evil, they were sent to fight monsters. Their last shred of humanity was long gone.'
'True, their numbers have dwindled in recent years, but some witchers still wander around, trading their dirty work for money. Their existence is our shame!'
'The northern lands bleed and are whipped by war. This is the gods' punishment for us!'
With each frozen moment, the game showed Ben a few scenes.
Of course, Ben already knew a lot of this stuff because it had been mentioned in the previews.
Like the Conjunction of the Spheres, witchers, and sorcerers, etc.
As the narration ended, the scenes in the game were no longer frozen.
In the center of a battlefield, Geralt and Vesemir were investigating.
Geralt crouched down, looking at the dirt on the ground, and then the screen flashed.
As if time was going backward, a black-haired woman whose face could not be seen appeared in the middle of the battlefield, with the armies of Redania and Nilfgaard on either side of her.
Facing a rain of arrows, the black-haired sorceress in the middle had no choice but to cast a large spell to escape.
Then the scene returned to Geralt.
Investigating clues on the battlefield, Geralt and Vesemir rested in the mountains at night.
Next to the fire, Geralt fell asleep.
After a brief darkness,
The opening scene was a direct shock.
Foot-job service? But why Geralt's big feet!
Watching the camera slowly focus on Geralt's two big feet in the tub, Ben was speechless.
He had no interest in Geralt's feet!
[Kaer Morhen: Witcher Keep, Caingorn Coast]
As Ben complained, a location hint appeared on the screen as well.
Geralt was in the tub, relaxing and enjoying the bath with his eyes closed.
But then a creature similar to a scorpion silently crawled into the tub.
The next second, Geralt, with his eyes closed, shivered. Ben also shivered because the Cosmos VR gaming pod had full-body feedback, and his imagination made the experience super immersive.
Geralt in the game gave a helpless look and turned his eyes to the side.
'Not funny.'
As he said that, he reached out and grabbed the magic scorpion in the tub and threw it on the ground, and then the scorpion turned into energy fragments.
The next second, the camera switched to where Geralt was looking. Yennefer, with nothing on but a towel wrapped around her hair, was sitting gracefully on a lounge chair, reading a book with her back to Geralt.
'I wasn't trying to be funny. I just want you to hurry up. It's noon already.'
'You promised Ciri you'd practice with her.'
'Go find Ciri. Save her from being bored to death by Vesemir.'
The slightly cold voice came from Yennefer's mouth.
Geralt in the game got out of the tub, his whole body covered in terrible scars, which showed that he was a battle-hardened witcher.
After getting dressed, Geralt went to Yennefer's side and gave her a deep kiss.
Without a word, Yennefer got up from the lounge chair, untied her headscarf, turned her back to Geralt, and let her dark hair fall. Then, slowly and carefully, she put on her underwear.
Oh my god!
Ben's eyes in the game were wide open.
That was why this new Nebula Games game was different from the usual ones!
This scene, this service, is this a game a child like him should be playing?
