MHGA Chapter 350 – The Black and White Hero

"ROOOOOAAARR——————"

A deep, rumbling roar rose from the throat of the Gore Magala, as if responding to Kairo Retsu.

"…Was that agreement?"

Kairo Retsu took a deep breath. "Then I'll take it from here."

Turning toward Silly Cat, he called out, "Silly Cat, bring me the weapon case… I need to switch weapons."

"Got it, Boss!" Silly Cat raised a paw. "Boss! What weapon are you switching to?"

"I… respect the choices and decisions of the strong." Kairo Retsu glanced at the Gore Magala, who had lowered its head. "I'm not the protagonist of this hunt. That's exactly why I need to fulfill my duty as Guildmaster… and light the way for everyone else."

"So…"

Kairo Retsu reached into the weapon case and drew out—a Hunting Horn.

"Gore Magala…"

With his gaze lowered, Kairo Retsu spoke to the monster. "If… if we could've communicated normally, maybe this would've all turned out differently."

He raised the Hunting Horn and aimed it at the Gore Magala.

As if sensing something in the air, the Gore Magala slowly closed its dim, sightless right eye.

"I respect your strength. I honor your decision." Kairo Retsu drew another deep breath. "So… let us defy fate together!"

He brought down the Hunting Horn with force. The heavy weapon slammed into the carapace and scales of the Gore Magala, shattering the loose patches with a harsh crunch.

The Gore Magala howled in pain, yet made no attempt to move. It simply endured Kairo Retsu's attack in silence.

Kairo Retsu shoved a Secret Potion and Recovery Potion into the Gore Magala's mouth. The dragon swallowed them instinctively, its injuries beginning to rapidly heal. But it still didn't move—only endured his blows.

From beneath the shattered scales and shell, a glimmer of gold emerged—mixed with the Gore Magala's purplish-red blood.

With each pounding strike, more gold was revealed on the Gore Magala's body.

Using Kairo Retsu's attacks as leverage, the Gore Magala was undergoing its final molting.

Even though it knew… this molt would never be complete.

It could not become whole. It could not return. Such was its cursed fate.

Why have I fallen so far

Why am I denied glory

Rejected on the brink of ascension

Moaning into a destiny of death

Who can dispel despair and madness

"Sirius!"

From the strategy room, Meteora had also noticed what was happening and immediately instructed Sirius to use Holopsicon's musical manifestation to suppress the Gore Magala's pain—to preserve its reason.

The agony, like being sliced by a thousand blades, spread as the gold scales encroached, threatening to rip the dragon apart.

This was not a molt toward ascension.

The Gore Magala, fully aware of its destiny, had chosen a different path—transforming into an aberration that could never return.

Kairo Retsu's relentless strikes shattered the scales that clung to the dragon's body. Until finally—

The half-golden dragon now stood before Kairo Retsu, waiting.

"…I'm sorry."

Kairo Retsu, having helped the Gore Magala complete its final shedding, wore a look of guilt—but his hands didn't stop.

From his chest, he pulled a glowing Wirebug. The Silkbind threads immediately wrapped around his hands.

He slung the Hunting Horn over his back and vaulted onto the back of the Gore Magala—no, Chaotic Gore Magala—the Silkbind wires instantly linking to every inch of the creature's body.

Yet the Chaotic Gore Magala offered no resistance to the threads, no signs of madness or pain—it was quiet. Uncharacteristically quiet for one of its kind.

"Believe in me… O dragon."

Kairo Retsu tugged on the Silkbind. The dragon's body moved in response—unresisting, obedient.

Sirius climbed onto its back as well, her hand glowing with Holopsicon's power as it brushed against Kairo Retsu's back.

The pain—once like ten thousand knives—returned to his consciousness.

But this time, even through the torment, Kairo Retsu forced a smile.

"Let's go, Hero… Today, let me call you that—Hero!"

He rode the Chaotic Gore Magala as if one with the beast, the two moving in perfect sync.

"Unleash what remains of your life—right now! Challenge the Demon King above ascension!!"

"ROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRR!!!!"

A thunderous roar erupted from the Chaotic Gore Magala's throat.

It could see no light. It could hear no wind.

All of its reason and cognition had been channeled into suppressing its madness and pain. All of its remaining strength… it entrusted to Kairo Retsu.

If there was no future… then it would stake everything on the present.

Its life had been nothing but noise and chaos. From its peak, it had plummeted into ruin—

Let what little life it had left now ignite—for rebellion, for protection of the tiny life that once touched it.

Even if… it had learned her name from Kairo Retsu's mind, but still couldn't understand what that name meant.

The roar of the Chaotic Gore Magala reached Altair, who was still recovering. A faint smile crossed her face—she realized the Gore Magala was still alive.

But—

The Shagaru Magala, previously locked in combat with Hibiki Tachibana, suddenly turned its gaze toward that cry.

Its godlike pupils now reflected rage.

Its kin.

Its servant.

The loser it had already claimed and ruled…

Was now defying it.

Now reaching into its domain.

"ROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR——————!!!!!!"

A roar even louder—overwhelming, oppressive—threatened to blot out the Chaotic Gore Magala's voice entirely. The Shagaru Magala no longer cared about Hibiki. It now intended to crush the challenger to its divine throne.

But… the one who emerged from the ruins was not only the Chaotic Gore Magala who defied the gods.

It was accompanied by a resounding song that shook the heavens—an empowering melody that bathed all allies in its light.

Almost everyone present felt their strength surge to a new peak. A red glow radiated from their bodies, pulsing with power.

And bathed in that same crimson glow—was the charging Chaotic Gore Magala.
