MHGA Chapter 349 – Hoping That Miracles Truly Exist

"..."

At this moment, Sirius—the mirror image of the Military Uniform Princess, Altair—stood by in place, awaiting action amid the current chaos.

But suddenly, Kairo Retsu leapt down from above, grabbing Sirius by the shoulders and taking off in a determined sprint, Silly Cat slung over his shoulder.

While running, Kairo Retsu activated his comms to contact Meteora in the strategy room.

"Meteora! Sirius… has all of Altair's powers, right?"

"Yes," Meteora replied after confirming, "Sirius is Altair's mirror. In theory, every ability Altair possesses… Sirius does as well."

"Hunter-san, have you come up with a way to fight the Shagaru Magala?" Meteora asked, full of hope.

"I'm going to bet on something."

Kairo Retsu's expression was complicated. "Meteora, tell me… does Sirius have the ability to temporarily link two minds, allowing them to understand each other's thoughts?"

"…She does," Meteora confirmed after a pause. "Hunter-san, may I ask what you plan to do with that ability?"

"I'm going to bet…"

Kairo Retsu took a deep breath. "I'm going to bet… that there exists a power in life that surpasses instinct and fate."

"I may not be young anymore… but if magic is real—"

"Then let me believe… that miracles are real too."

————————————————————

Darkness.

Emptiness.

Silence.

And… pain and madness.

From the moment its newly born consciousness emerged, it had existed within chaos. That faint spark of reason was overwhelmed by primal madness and suffering.

How long it had endured, it could no longer tell. But instinct told it: to escape the agony and madness, it must keep fighting, struggling, shedding its skin… until the cycle ended, until it could emerge from the darkness as a being reborn.

Yet at the very brink of success… its kin—its rival—was the first to shed its husk and rise from the pitch-black form.

A curse from the victor was quietly etched into its body, stripping it of the ability to reach the light. So long as the Shagaru Magala lived… it would never know rebirth.

The pain and madness tormented it for untold time within the dark… until one day, it fled its original territory.

Once it left the Shagaru Magala's domain, it could feel the shackles loosen—but not enough to complete its metamorphosis.

Guided by what little reason it retained, it began its escape.

But the Rebirth Dragon would not allow a rival to rise.

When it once again sensed the Shagaru Magala's scales in the air… it understood: that dragon would permit no kin to infringe on its domain.

It folded its wings and drifted between worlds, hoping only to escape the dragon's hunt.

Yet wherever it fled, the cursed scale dust of the Shagaru Magala would follow, dragging it back into boundless darkness and pain.

Until one day—a small being reached out to it.

That tiny presence gently touched its forehead… In that blackness, silence, chaos, and suffering—only that single touch stood out in perfect clarity.

That small life willingly took on the Frenzy Virus, the medium through which it perceived the world, allowing it to recognize her.

With a power beyond its understanding, that small life eased its pain—and even the curse of rebirth began to fade.

Because of her, a golden light was born from a corner of its endless darkness and madness.

That golden power triggered a transformation within it—a change so painful, yet undeniably real. It felt itself growing.

The pain and madness brought on by instinct intensified—but the small life gently calmed that pain with her power.

But in time, the parasitic scale dust reappeared.

Writhing in agony, it endured. But it realized—that small being was now in conflict, fighting against others.

Those creatures… many of them also bore the cursed dust of the Rebirth Dragon.

It felt fear, rage—but in the end… the Shagaru Magala appeared.

Its one act of defiance… was crushed. The Shagaru Magala's attack ripped through its body, the cursed scale dust invading its flesh…

The golden power within it instantly turned to poison, tormenting its spirit, leaving it powerless to continue fighting—forced to endure the pain as it ravaged its own body.

It could still sense that tiny life, the one who carried its scales, wounded by the Shagaru Magala… but under such torment, it could no longer rise.

Until—another hand, similar to that warm and gentle life's, touched its forehead.

At this moment, Sirius calmly placed her hand on the head of the Gore Magala lying in ruins. With her other hand, she reached out to Kairo Retsu.

In his earpiece, Meteora's voice relayed: "Sirius can temporarily synchronize your minds. Even if the other party can't understand language, this will allow brief communication."

Meteora truly hadn't expected Kairo Retsu to bring Sirius before the severely injured Gore Magala.

Silly Cat had donned a mask and now cowered behind Kairo Retsu, clearly afraid of the wounded Gore Magala.

But Kairo Retsu took a deep breath, calmed himself, and grabbed Sirius's hand.

At that moment of contact, searing pain and madness shot through his consciousness, causing Kairo Retsu to instinctively tighten his grip on Sirius's hand.

The brief merging of minds brought immense pain—but it allowed Kairo Retsu to convey his thoughts in a way the Gore Magala's fragile reason could understand, buried deep within darkness.

For the first time, it learned what it was… and what it might become.

The golden power within it was not hope—it was a death curse.

Its fate had long been sealed.

But the existence who now shared minds with it… had offered it a choice.

Drenched in sweat, Kairo Retsu released Sirius's hand, breaking the connection and stumbling back several steps.

The pain that cut through body and soul was nearly unbearable. He could not imagine how any being could retain even a shred of reason under such torment.

And so, Kairo Retsu could only hope—

That in this world… a force truly existed that could surpass pain and fate.

And then—

The wounded Gore Magala moved.

Lowering its head toward Kairo Retsu,

It clearly expressed its will.
