SEASON 3, EPISODE 3: "Phantom Sins"
COLD OPEN
[INT. REFLECTED ELYRRA – UNKNOWN TIME]
Soft fog rolls across an inverted forest. Trees curve toward the sky like the inside of a ribcage. The ground pulses. The moon is blood-red.
SERA gasps awake, soaked in sweat. Her breath crystallizes in the air—though it's humid.
She steps forward… and meets herself.
DOPPELGÄNGER SERA stands barefoot on the mirrored water, eyes dark and empty, lips curled into a knowing grin.
DOPPELGÄNGER SERA (softly)
"You shouldn't have crossed. Now we both exist—and this world doesn't need two of us."
CUT TO BLACK.
ACT ONE
[INT. MONASTERY CHAMBER – NIGHT]
The team reels after the sonic attack of The Choir. Ears ring. Blood trickles. Kael's head is pounding, but it isn't the sound—it's the voice.
A presence gnawing at the edge of his mind.
VEX (V.O., inside Kael)
"The Choir sings in your bones now. Can you feel it? The old rhythm—the Dominion's lullaby. But you… you were always meant for a different song."
Kael falls to his knees, clutching his skull. The fire flickers around him even though there's no wind.
INT. KAEL'S MIND — PSYCHIC REALM
A battlefield drenched in shadow.
Kael stands facing VEX, who appears like a reflection blurred by water—shimmering, wrong.
KAEL
"Why me? What did you do to me?"
VEX
"I didn't create the connection, Kael. Your
blood did. My mother. Your mother. They chose the same path—different ends."
FLASH IMAGE: Kael's mother weeping in a lab. A child floating in a tank—Kael's brother? Or... Kael himself?
VEX
"You were their second attempt. The one that felt too much."
Kael screams—and the world shatters.
ACT TWO
[INT. REFLECTED ELYRRA – SERA'S JOURNEY]
Sera follows her doppelgänger through a forest where time loops on itself. She steps over a branch—again. Again. Again.
Mirrored animals watch her from the trees. Their eyes twitch. Their faces are wrong.
DOPPELGÄNGER SERA
"You're fractured. You want to know who you are, don't you? What you are?"
SERA
"I know who I am."
DOPPELGÄNGER
"Then why does your heartbeat sound like a clock?"
They reach a clearing of mirrors—each showing a version of Sera: soldier, child, monster, mother.
In one mirror, Sera sees herself killing Mira. In another, she kneels before Vex.
She closes her eyes.
SERA (whispers)
"This isn't real."
DOPPELGÄNGER
"It is to me."
They begin to fight—hand-to-hand. Brutal. Mirrors shatter. Glass flies. The forest bends.
ACT THREE — THE ORIGIN OF THE CHOIR
[INT. DOMINION ARCHIVE – FLASHBACK / DREAM SEQUENCE]
Luma lies unconscious, twitching. Inside her mind, Dominion files play like corrupted memories.
Children in cages. Faces half-formed.
The Choir wasn't born—they were compiled. Genetic data harvested from rebels, resynthesized into sonic weapons. Voices were engineered to trigger cerebral hemorrhage on command.
Each child was raised in silence. When they cried, someone died.
SCIENTIST (recording log)
"Choir units 1–36 stabilized. Vocal range consistent with lethal amplitude. Memory retention: 4%. Emotional capacity: zero."
Luma screams awake.
LUMA
"They don't remember being children. Only being broken."
ACT FOUR — THE MERGE
[EXT. MONASTERY RUINS – DUSK]
Kael tells Mira the truth—about Vex. About the link. About the lab.
MIRA
"He's in you?"
KAEL
"No. I'm in him. And if he pulls hard enough…"
He trails off, terrified of finishing the sentence.
Suddenly—SERA reappears.
She collapses at the monastery steps, bleeding from a deep cut across her chest.
Mira and Corvin rush to her.
SERA (weakly)
"It let me go. The Gate... chose me."
Kael leans down.
KAEL
"What did you see?"
SERA (trembling)
"Me. But not me. And… Vex's mark. In the sky."
Lightning crashes.
The Choir returns.
Dozens of cages are dropped by flying Mawborn constructs. Children crawl out, their mouths sewn shut. Then one opens their mouth—
SOUND DELETED.
Everything around the team begins to crumble.
FINAL SCENE — THE TEAR
[INT. REFLECTED ELYRRA – PARALLEL KAEL]
In the mirror world, a version of Kaelstands beside Vex. Fully corrupted. Flesh carved with runes.
MIRROR-KAEL
"They'll try to fight. They'll lose."
VEX (smiling)
"Then let's give them something to fear."
Behind them—the real Gate. Not stone, not
tech. Alive.
It breathes.
