Chapter 27 - SEASON 3, EPISODE 5: “Blood Mirrors”

SEASON 3, EPISODE 5: "Blood Mirrors"

COLD OPEN – THE TOLL OF TOUCHING GODS

[INT. CAVE UNDER THE LIVING GATE – NIGHT]

Kael convulses, drenched in sweat. His veins glow dim cerulean, pulsing with the Gate's energy. Mira crouches beside him, pressing a damp cloth to his forehead. His skin burns like acid beneath her touch.

He whispers to himself, eyes fluttering open—

KAEL (hoarse)

"I saw him. I saw... me. But not me. Something else. Smiling."

Sera stands silently at the cave mouth, watching the storm twist in the sky—mirror-light flashing like blood over bone.

ACT ONE – KAEL: SEEDS OF CORRUPTION

[INT. CAVE – LATER]

Kael wakes alone.

He hears whispers again—but this time, not Vex's.

He looks into a shard of broken glass and sees his reflection blinking out of sync, grinning darkly.

REFLECTION

"We are the cost of touching what was forbidden. You let it in. Now we're here."

His fingers twitch involuntarily—bones shifting subtly beneath the skin. For a moment, his hand is not his.

Later, as the others sleep, Kael sneaks off… drawn by something calling him deeper into the Gate's cavernous roots.

ACT TWO – MIRA: LEGACY OF SHADOW

[INT. ABANDONED DOMINION ARCHIVE – NEXT MORNING]

Mira leads Sera and Luma into the ruins of a sunken Dominion research facility, half-submerged in black water.

They find a preserved chamber, covered in Dominion sigils Mira recognizes. She freezes. Her hands tremble.

This was her mother's lab.

Mira hacks into the databanks. Holograms flicker to life.

A projection of her mother—Dr. Illen Voss—speaks with cold precision.

ILLEN (recorded)

"Project E: Choir integration viable. Subject L-21 stable. Emotional volatility acceptable for Gate calibration... Begin Stage IV."

Mira gasps. L-21 was her.

MIRA (shaking)

"She didn't raise me. She engineeredme."

She finds a locked bio-drive encoded to her DNA. Inside: memories that weren't hers. Implantations. Suppressed trauma.

And a directive:

ILLEN (recorded)

"When the Gate opens, return. You are the key. You are the vessel."

ACT THREE – SERA: THE OTHER SIDE

[EXT. LIVING GATE RIFT – NOON]

Sera, driven by instinct, approaches a shimmering tear beside the Gate—a side-effect of its opening. She touches the void.

She's pulled through.

[INT. ALTERNATE WORLD – "THE UNSPOKEN MIRROR"]

Sera stands in a shattered reflection of their own world—buildings dripping into sky, time running backward and forward. Shadows walk on the ceilings. Air tastes of ash and honey.

She sees a version of herself, cloaked, silver-eyed, scarred. This version smiles softly.

DOPPELSERA

"This is the world where we lost. Where we became Choir. You still have a choice."

Sera watches as the other Sera touches her chest—revealing a black Choir symbol etched in flesh, pulsing.

DOPPELSERA

"You're already changing. Use it before it uses you."

Before she can ask more, the world splits—

And she's pulled back into her own reality, eyes now faintly silver, veins vibrating with alien energy.

ACT FOUR – LUMA: SPLIT OF SELF

[INT. DEEP ROOTS OF THE GATE – SAME TIME]

Luma explores tunnels laced with ancient fungi and glowing veins. She starts to hear herself arguing—with herself.

LUMA 1 (whispering)

"They don't need you. You're slowing them down."

LUMA 2 (crying)

"That's not true. I'm helping. I'm helping—"

She collapses. Her skin fractures again—like glass, her reflection splitting into two distinct versions of her.

One bright. One dark.

The bright one reaches toward the real Luma, whispering:

BRIGHT LUMA

"We were one. The Gate made us many. Choose."

Luma screams as her mind fractures—body flickering between forms—one soft and gentle, the other glowing with rage and fire.

ACT FIVE – CONVERGENCE AND CONSEQUENCE

[EXT. OUTSIDE THE GATE – DUSK]

The group regathers.

• Kael's arm is wrapped in cloth—burning beneath it. His voice cracks. He's afraid to speak too much.• Sera's eyes flash unnaturally, and she

says nothing about what she saw.

• Mira holds her mother's drive in her pocket, fingers trembling every few moments.• Luma floats above the ground for a second before collapsing, whispering to herself again and again.

LUMA

"They see me. They see us. I don't know which one is real."

Kael looks at them all—and sees flickers of the future. Of a battle not yet fought. Of his own hand holding a blade. Blood on it. Luma's blood.

The Gate pulses once behind them.

And in the distance—Vex watches with folded arms, smiling.

VEX (to unseen figure)

"They're almost ready. But the real test? That's coming. Let's crack them."

Beside him… Sera's doppelgänger steps forward, Choir symbol glowing.
