Having received Gregory's promise Chronos waved goodnight to him choosing to stay up and practice his skill while everyone else rested.
Entering his mental space to study the [Void Ice] skill he felt a foreign energy he recognized as coming from the system intrude into his mind and form into a new book. When the book appeared it froze any mental energy that approached it.
As one of the failed mental weapons he had created flew near it, it froze in place unable to escape or move again.
Chronos could tell that this book was going to need a special storage method if he didn't want it to freeze everything nearby.
Using the Memory Imprinting Method, he created a basic bookshelf that could contain a book's power and put his other books on it before flipping open [Void Ice].
After reading through it he placed it on the shelf showing a satisfied smile as the bookshelf completely contained the power of [Void Ice]. Unfortunately, nothing else could be put on that shelf or it would also freeze.
Having gained a deeper understanding of the void he found that the [Void Ice] skill wasn't all that different from the other summoning skills amongst living void skills. All of them involved calling on the power of the void and connecting the physical world to the void.
First, he needed to open a small hole between himself and the void layer which was the furthest layer from the physical world. Through that hole he would carefully draw in a tiny speck of living void that would form the core of [Void Ice].
Holding out his hands he started focusing on the spell, but nothing happened even after several minutes. Pouring more bloodline power into the spell he watched as a tiny speck appeared above his hand like a ghost.
He immediately felt the wrongness of having a void speck present in the physical world. It was like looking at a hole in a shield where one shouldn't exist but in reality. A space that his senses normally said was full was suddenly empty and that emptiness felt like it was trying to expand from that hole.
He would have to get used to that feeling of wrongness if he was going to keep training with void skills and make sure that it didn't expand out of control.
Then the speck fluctuated and collapsed inward until it didn't exist anymore.
"This is going to be troublesome. Controlling void takes a lot more concentration than I thought." he muttered to himself.
Casting the spell again he was startled as his hands froze and ice spread under his boots. He had put too much bloodline power into the casting this time making it rapidly expand from the hole the spell had created.
Cutting off his connection he let it collapse in on itself again before shaking his hands to recover feeling in them. Once he could feel his hands again, he cast the spell once more.
This time it formed stably without wavering, but it took his full attention for some time before he could proceed with the next step of his training. The next step was to form a sphere from the ice, but when he attempted to do so the ice around the speck of void shot off in one direction forming a ball with a long spike on one side.
That wasn't good, if he was going to use this to cleanse his spear and still use the spear afterwards, he needed to control the ice. If the ice ran wild, then his spear wouldn't survive.
He pulled his bloodline power back and broke off the extra ice before trying again to form a sphere. The sphere formed this time, but it was two times larger than it should have been and it had multiple small bumps and spikes on it.
Sighing he realized that this training wasn't going to end anytime soon.
He practiced controlling the ice for three hours before finally stopping. After three hours his bloodline power hadn't been able to keep up with the expenditure anymore causing him to collapse in exhaustion.
In the middle of a battle the expenditure and focus required would be much worse. By his estimate if he was using [Void Ice] he could only fight for thirty minutes before he would need time to recover.
He took several deep breaths as he lay on the floor waiting for his body to recover.
This was the first time he had run out of bloodline power and damn was it bad. When you used up your aura you could still stand and fight while feeling weak and even running out of magic would just give you a severe headache for a day or so.
But running out of bloodline power felt like his entire body had taken a beating.
Attempting to move his arm he could barely lift it more than 10 centimeters before he reached his limit.
It wasn't an issue right now but if he gained powerful void or space abilities in the future, he would have to watch how much energy he spent in battle. Otherwise, he would find himself in a rather sticky situation in the middle of it.
Come to think of it, this feeling was strangely familiar. He had a thoughtful look on his face as he tried to recall where he had felt this feeling in the past.

...
That's right when he had learned to use [Cold-Moon Pressure] at nine he had been a little wild with it and collapsed afterwards. If you could call freezing half the manor a little wild.
Was [Cold-Moon Pressure] a void based skill?
While his body was exhausted his mind was still wide awake.
Focusing his thoughts he brought up the system skill screen and searched for [Cold-Moon Pressure]. It showed up immediately and was sorted into the void skills section.
That explained so much!
And it reassured Chronos that his clan wouldn't destroy the world too.
There were only a couple dozen clan members that could use [Cold-Moon Pressure], if they couldn't use it then they probably didn't have void power in their second heart. Which meant that they wouldn't have access to the more dangerous pure void skills that could destroy large parts of the world.
Reading the skill description, it was pretty much the same as what his clan knew but there were more details added to it.
[Cold-Moon Pressure]: It can create a wintry air in one's surroundings, but the wintry air is nothing more than a side effect of having void present in one's body. The void within the user's body applies pressure to the bodies and minds of nearby creatures warning them of the extreme danger the creature in front of them possesses.
The description wasn't much and it was lacking some details that his clan's records claimed the skill should have like the moon above the caster, still it did tell him a few things.
Like how [Cold-Moon Pressure] was a void skill, but it wasn't rated very highly amongst void skills, being just a rank one skill, in fact it seemed it was barely considered a void skill at all.
While studying it he couldn't help wondering if there was a stronger version of this skill in the skill library.
He knew he should stop but his curiosity grew stronger until he couldn't help himself anymore.
He searched for skills similar to [Cold-Moon Pressure] and used the moon as a key word for his search. However, unlike previous searches this time it brought up an actual search screen.
