Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 204
"Alright, let's go outside."
Before they left, Karlos grabbed a bottle of beer from the refrigerator... Maya sighed as she watched Karlos leading the twins outside while holding a bottle of beer. It made him look like an alcoholic father who was tasked to watch over the kids, which was basically what was happening.
The twins excitedly approached their friends. The small group of children walked up to the nearest house and called out, "Happy Children's Blessed Day!"
The twins repeated after them.
"Happy Childwen's Bwessed Day!"
Karlos watched from behind. He greeted his neighbor, who handed money to the children.
"Happy Blessed Day, Antonio."
"You too, Karlos. So, you want money too?" Antonio joked, raising his own bottle of alcohol. Just like Karlos, he was drinking in the morning...
"Nah, I'm just watching over the kids."
"I see. Come visit us on New Year's. We're going to have a small celebration party," Antonio grinned. His commercial trawler boat had earned quite well this season, and he was close to recouping his 20-million-peso investment.
"I'll be there," Karlos answered, then followed the group of children to the next house. Arabella and Iñigo were delighted that they were earning money, having learned that they could buy things with these coins.
As Karlos followed the children, he ran into Jerry and his daughter. It seemed the little girl also wanted to join in the festivity of Children's Blessed Day. Jerry's daughter, Lily, was one year older than the twins.
"Oi, Karlos, you're out here too?" Jerry laughed, greeting Karlos while holding a bottle of beer... At this point, it wouldn't be a surprise if another father showed up with a beer in hand.
"Yeah, my wife told me to look after the twins."
"My wife told me the exact thing."
They both laughed and chugged their beers.
"Also, my wife prepared gifts for the twins. You can bring them to my house later." Jerry and his wife were the godparents of the twins.
"That's great to hear. Maya prepared something for Lily too."
"Now that's what I'm talking about!"
They bid farewell as they headed in different directions. Once the twins were done asking for money from every neighbor, they asked Karlos to take them to the bakery to buy cheesecake. They asked their father to carry them, as walking on their small legs was tiring.
"Alright, but don't spend too much on food. We have food at home." Karlos carried them to the bakery. They kept their promise and only bought one slice each. Their cheeks were stained with food by the time they finished eating.
"Let me clean you up." He wiped their faces.
"Since we're outside, let's visit your godparents too."
The twins nodded. They had no idea what godparents meant, but it sounded like a good thing.
"Papa, toys," Iñigo reminded him.
"Ah, yes. We'll visit the toy store later too."
They visited Brandon's, Jerry's, Domingo's, and Andres's houses, receiving gifts wrapped in colorful paper. The twins were thrilled.
Just as Karlos had promised, he took them to the toy store, where the owner handed the twins small stuffed toys. Because they had received so many gifts, Karlos had to buy a plastic bag to carry them all.
By the time they returned home, the twins were completely satisfied and happy with their loot, eager to open every present.
"You're back," Maya said, setting down the novel she had been reading. She was still relaxing under the shed. The coins in the bowl were almost gone after nearly every child in the neighborhood had come by to ask for money.
"Mama!" The twins excitedly hugged their mother, showing off everything they had received that day.
"Did Jerry and his daughter show up?" Karlos kissed Maya's forehead.
"Yes, and so did Andres's two children. I gave them gifts and banana cakes," Maya said. She had baked banana cakes specifically for the occasion. Giving away food wasn't the usual custom on Children's Blessed Day, but Maya was someone the neighborhood trusted and admired. She frequently shared her delicious baked goods with the neighbors, and anyone who received them was always grateful and happy.
"That's good. Let me help you bring things inside."
As the family was about to go indoors, they heard a horn honk and turned around.
"Foster!" Karlos immediately recognized the vehicle, a pickup truck driven by Foster.
"Karlos, it's nice to see you again! Young Master Larry sent a few things for you and the kids," Foster greeted Karlos with a warm smile as he pulled heavy boxes from the truck bed.
"These boxes are for the twins."
"Wow!"
The twins gasped in awe because the boxes were twice their size.
But Foster wasn't done yet.
"And here are the puppies. They're from an Arctic Wolf breed, but they're fully domesticated and well-behaved. They've already been vaccinated and checked by the veterinarian."
"Arf! Arf!"
Two small puppies barked cutely at Karlos. They had white and black fur, respectively.
"Doggie!" Arabella immediately fell in love with the pups. They were adorable.
"Aww, they're so small and cute!" Even Maya was charmed.
"These dogs will grow quite large, so I'm not sure if you'll still find them this tiny and cute in a year or two," Foster chuckled. "It's a good thing your yard is spacious enough for them to run around."
"Why don't you come inside and have a drink with us?" Karlos invited Foster.
"Nah, I have a few errands to run at the villa." Foster didn't want to impose, as he genuinely had a busy schedule.
"Before you go, take some of the banana cake I baked. I also packed some for Mrs. Wanda and the others."
"Alright then, thank you." Foster accepted with a smile.
