Chapter 203 - Chapter 203

Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 203

"Is this the residence of Horrendo Alejandro?"

Suddenly, while the family was busy hatching a plan to extort Karlos, someone knocked loudly on their front door.

Pangit frowned and yanked the door open.

"Who do you think you are, disturbing us in the middle of the afternoon—" He immediately shut his mouth when he saw a group of uniformed police officers standing on his doorstep.

"We received a tip that this place is used to distribute drugs," Larry grinned, slapping a search warrant right against Pangit's face.

Dozens of police officers immediately filed into the house to conduct a search. Horrendo and Fea were completely stunned by how fast everything was happening.

"S-Sir, you have the wrong place! There are no drugs here! We don't do that kind of thing, it's illegal!" Fea tried to plead, but the officers were already flipping over furniture and turning the house upside down.

The commotion quickly drew a crowd of neighbors watching from a distance, though no one dared to come close for fear of getting involved.

"Sir," one of the police officers called out as he emerged from Pangit's bedroom, holding a small plastic bag filled with white powder.

"Well, look at what we have here," Larry smirked.

"Pangit, you bastard! You promised me you stopped using drugs!" Horrendo screamed at his son. Pangit was so terrified that he ended up wetting his pants on the spot.

"I-I didn't know!" Pangit stammered, trembling uncontrollably. He was indeed a drug user, but he made sure to hide his stash.

"Sir, this is all my son's doing! He uses drugs, but I can assure you we don't sell them!" Fea wept hysterically.

"Sir," another officer called out, stepping forward while holding a massive one-kilogram brick of white powder suspected to be cocaine.

"You don't have to lie anymore. We have clear evidence of your distribution operation. Take these people to the station!" Larry ordered, casually kicking Pangit and Horrendo as they were forced down. He had heard from Karlos that Pangit was the one who stole his life savings, while Horrendo had protected and enabled him before throwing Karlos out onto the streets.

"T-That's not mine! That's not mine! I've never seen that in my entire life." Pangit shrieked frantically as the officers dragged him toward the police car, with Fea and Horrendo sobbing uncontrollably behind him. Their neighbors watched the entire spectacle unfold, and a few even cheered, Horrendo's family had a terrible reputation in the village for being thieves.

Possessing drugs for personal use and distributing them were two entirely different charges, with the latter carrying far harsher penalties.

While the first piece of evidence was real, the second one had been planted by the police to implicate the entire household. In this line of work, planting evidence to lock up criminals wasn't an unheard-of practice among corrupt law enforcers.

Later that night, Larry called Karlos to inform him that Pangit, Horrendo, and Fea were officially booked for illegal possession and distribution of narcotics. They were looking at around 20 years in prison.

Karlos was surprised by the swift outcome, but he felt no guilt whatsoever. The original owner of his body, the Karlos of Thera, had been driven to take his own life because of those very relatives. They were the ones who pushed him over the edge and led him to drown in the sea. Karlos had clear priorities now, his wife and children came first, and he would do whatever it took to ensure they lived a peaceful, undisturbed life. What happened to the rest of his extended family didn't matter to him in the slightest.

Karlos expressed his gratitude to Larry over the phone.

"Don't mention it. On Children's Blessed Day, I'll send over two puppies. You mentioned wanting guard dogs for your property, right? Our police station's unit just had a litter from a solid breed, they are Arctic Wolves."

Arctic Wolves were a specific breed of dog found on the world of Thera. Legend had it that their ancient ancestors possessed the mythical power to control blizzards, but modern Arctic Wolves were simply large, loyal dogs with an exceptionally sharp sense of smell.

"I'll be tied up with work, so I'll have Foster drop off the puppies along with my gifts for the twins."

Foster was the gardener and driver in the villa where Karlos once lived.

Karlos thanked Larry once again before hanging up. He realized that having a well-connected friend like Larry certainly had its perks... It was no wonder people always recommended making friends in high society.

As the days passed, their peaceful routine resumed, and Karlos enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

With the peak tuna and salmon season in full swing, Karlos and his crew were bringing in an average daily profit of half a million pesos. They even brought home large, fresh fish to cook for dinner.

Meanwhile, the ice shop managed by Gustavo was proving to be a massive success. In just two straight weeks, the shop generated 182,000 pesos. The four partners: Gustavo, Karlos, Andres, and Brandon, were astonished by how quickly they were recouping their initial investment. At this rate, it would only take two to three months to completely break even, after which every peso earned would be pure profit.

Andres was thrilled by the news, and Reina was equally excited to see the business thriving. Every afternoon, she made a point of bringing cooked meals and snacks to the shop so the workers were well-fed.

Before long, Children's Blessed Day arrived, bringing a lively atmosphere to the neighborhood. The streets were filled with local children visiting house after house to ask for festive coins. The Alejandro family sat under their frontyard shed, with Maya holding a bowl filled to the brim with coins. She handed out 10 pesos to every child who stopped by.

"Happy Blessed Day!"

"Here you go." Maya smiled, handing coins to the group of kids.

"Thank you, Mrs. Alejandro!" the children cheered happily before moving on.

"Arabella, Iñigo, do you want to come with us? We're heading to the toy store, they hand out free small toys for Children's Blessed Day!" one of the neighborhood kids called out to the twins.

Arabella and Iñigo weren't entirely sure what the celebration was about, but they could tell it was exciting. They turned to their parents, eagerly begging for permission to go outside.

Maya looked over at her husband. She was usually hesitant to let the twins wander around outside, but as long as Karlos was keeping a close eye on them, she didn't mind as much.

"Why don't you take the kids out for a bit? I'll stay here and hand out coins to the rest of the children."

Karlos chuckled softly. Of course, he loved any opportunity to spoil his kids.
