[3rd POV]
Wanda had not given them mercy. And instead, the two of them had been told to clean the entire store of the nonexistent dust that was inside of it. They had to do it all by hand, and without any of their powers or abilities.
She had even some artificial dust just so that they would actually have something to clean. On top of that, they would need to clean their rooms. But that wasn't really much of a punishment, as they had to do that either way. She usually had them clean their rooms every other week or so.
Even with their personalities, they were not really that messy, and tended to clean up the actual meaningful trash. It was mostly just crumbs and wrappers that they had to clean up. That or putting away things they had bought on the various trips they go to every few days.
While Milim and Naruto were doing the second half of their punishment upstairs, Wanda was listening intently as Raven explained what they had been doing during the small trip. Amity was also upstairs, but she was not punished or anything. Instead she was upstairs already starting her studying on the various books that she had bought, and learning more about the equipment that she had bought.
She had expressed her desire to start working with them in a month, that way she could start to at least attempt to combine the methods with her abomination magic.
"So she actually enjoyed the trip?" Wanda asked, wanting to make sure with her girlfriend as they were alone in the shop. The store was still open, but it would seem that it was a slow day today, so there was not a lot happening. Not beyond Ruby and the rest of her team coming in.
"It certainly seemed that way. But I do think that she is still having some thoughts regarding us taking her in" Raven responded with a nod, but looked a little worried at the second half.
"What sort of thoughts?" Wanda asked. She already had an idea, but she wanted to make sure that she was thinking the same way as her girlfriend. And once again, she was not going to use her power to find out, as that was wrong, and she did not use her powers on mind control and stuff like that. The only time she would ever do something like that is if it was truly needed.
And in this case, it thankfully was not. Amity was not hurting beyond a mental level, and even then it was limited.
"I am not entirely sure. But I am pretty certain that she still thinks that she does not belong here, that we were wrong to bring her in. I think that she is fearful of the chance that we could give her up again like so many other foster kids have to deal with" Raven said, explaining her reasoning and her thought process.
Amity still had those thoughts simply as a rather unfortunate side effect of living in an abusive household her entire life, underneath someone like Odalia Blight who made her feel like she was worthless for...well, her entire life.
"Well we'll just have to make sure she understands that we are not going to be sending her away to a place like that. That she will be staying here as long as she wants to. And that if she truly wants to, she can join this family as a permanent member, just like with Milim and Naruto" Wanda replied to her girlfriend, as she let out a soft sigh.
She did not like that Amity still had those sorts of thoughts, but she honestly was not that surprised. She had gone through a lot, and it was only natural that she still ahd thoughts along those lines.
"Do you think she'll believe us? We've already told her that she can stay as long as she wants, and have reaffirmed that multiple times" Raven asked. Wanda nodded in response.
"She will. Because we will not just tell her this, but we will also prove it to her. Statements and saying something is one thing, but actually doing it is another. And as long as we continue to show our love and care for the poor thing, and continue to show her just how much we truly care for her, it will eventually begin to heal, and she will eventually begin to grow more used to the idea of staying with us in a more permanent manner" Wanda replied. Raven looked a little pleased with this, as she too had grown to care for Amity quite a lot.
She was a great conversationalist for literature, and she had been reading a ton of classics over the time she had been working in the store. Now she was focused more on abomination magic, but before that it was all literature, history, and stuff like that.
Mostly because it was a lot cheaper in Wanda's shop, and she knew more about it. As back then she knew nothing about electrical circuits and what they were. She was also still living with Odalia, so studying it was pretty much useless since she would not be able or allowed to use it anyways.
And if she did make anything with it, she was completely certain that her parents would have just stolen the idea and used it themselves, while also making it worse than what she could make, and charging egregious amounts of money for it.
"When do you think that little teacher of hers is going to appear here? I'm sure she's realized that something has happened, considering Amity has not went to one of their sessions in quite some time. On top of taking a two week break from school" Raven asked, deciding to change the subject somewhat as Wanda hummed.
"No idea. But I doubt it'll be long. All she really has to do is watch Eda long enough and follow her, and she'll find this place"
"And what will you do if she does find it?" Raven asked.
"Nothing. She'll just be another customer. But she'll likely be an annoying one that will attempt to reach out to Amity. I hope she is not completely evil, simply ignorant. As if she was just ignorant and stupid, then having her shop here should be fine, and she might even be able to interact with Amity without it causing problems" Wanda replied, hoping inwardly that the woman wasn't as awful as it seemed she was.
She liked Lilith's character a lot in the cartoon when she had first watched it, and it would suck if she was evil in this universe, or arrogant. It would take away a lot of the appeal of the universe, as it would mean that there was going to be other things that were different.
The way that Amity had been treated was a clear sign of it being an AU. On top of that was Odalia's other children were even worse than they were in canon. In canon they just teased her, and messed around with her, but nothing too crazy.
But in this world they were full blown bullies that harassed the crap out of their little sister just because they enjoyed watching her suffer, almost like they were sociopaths or something along those lines.
It would also mean that if this was different, then other things could be as well. What if Luz never entered the boiling isles, and Amity never found love? What if the Collector was stronger or weaker there? What if Belos was smarter?
There were a LOT of things that could be different since it was an AU. She just hoped that Amity's family was the biggest part of it. As it would make her rather miserable. Since she still wanted to attend her school, it was one of the few things in the world that she truly enjoyed a ton.
"You say that until she tries to start a fight. Then after that she will be banned from the store, but will instead wait for Amity back in the boiling isles when she goes back to school" Raven said, worried for Amity.
"Babe, trust me, she'll be fine. Lilith cannot and will not cause issues over this. If she does, then I will personally step in to stop anything from happening" Wanda said softly, placing a hand on her girlfriends hand to calm her down.
Hearing Wanda's response, Raven stared at her for a few moments, before letting out a sigh, and responded simply.
"I hope you're right..."
Wanda did too.
Because if not...
Any future interactions with Lilith would...not be fun.
