"We should do that again," I smiled as I wrapped my arms around Edward's neck. A sudden, beautiful happiness I hadn't felt in so long was blossoming in me. Warm and stupid and real.
"Should do what? Fight again?" He hissed, but his eyes were already laughing. "I wouldn't like to do a redo on that. My heart can't take it."
"No." I laughed. Actually laughed. "Surprise me again. Now that I'm in a better mood."
He ran the tip of his tongue over his top row of teeth and grinned. That grin that always meant trouble. "It's raining cats, dogs, and Scottish men in kilts out there."
I slapped his chest and burst out laughing. "Then let me make it up to you."
He pressed his lips together and glanced toward the window. The rain was hitting the glass in sheets. "The things I do for you," he sighed. Dramatic. Then he stood up, grabbed the bouquet of roses from the coffee table, and walked to the front door with a smile.
