"Connor," Edward's voice rasped. He held my hand even tighter and pressed it flat over his heart. I could feel it. Frantic. Beating like it was trying to get out of his chest. His blue eyes were the brightest they'd ever been as they scanned my face. Like he was memorizing me. Like he was terrified I'd disappear. "Connor, you've always been enough for me. You've been more than enough for me." A pause. His thumb brushed over my knuckles. "And I know we have our moments. God, we have so many. But that doesn't mean that I love you any less. Not even close."
