Chapter 2 - Restrictions

I saw a vendor selling skill books, so I looked closer out of curiosity to see if I was going to be interested in them. I looked at a skill book called [Aura Body], which I took an interest in. I bought the book and learned it.

Do you wish to learn this skill? A panel came up asking me to learn the skill. I selected "Yes," and the info about this skill appeared. It allowed the user to enhance their body, increasing [Str], [Agi], and [Dex] by 20% and increasing defense by 15%.

While I was looking around, a girl called out to me and asked if I wanted to join their party. I rejected her, but she kept annoying me to join. I didn't have a choice but to join them. While we were walking, she asked what my class was, and she mentioned her own class was Cleric.

I was confused because I didn't even know that I didn't have a class. I asked her what would happen if someone didn't have a class.

"What? You don't have a class? Having a class makes you stronger, unless you're still newly awakened. Normally, you can get a class when you reach level 10."

"But I really don't have a class. Wait, let me check my system."

Name: Lucas Ferios

Class: Restricted

Title: [Goblin Slayer 2]

Level: 21

[Hp 585], [Mp 315]

Stats: [Str 50], [Int 63], [Vit 27], [Wis 46], [Dex 32], [Agi 27], [Luk 25]

Skill: [Thrust leap], [Force strike], [Fireball], [Wind blade], [Aura body]

Ex skill: [Soul Extract]

Rp: 0

Restricted? Is that a class? Then what was the information about this restriction?

[Restricted]: Due to the ex skill [Soul Extract], you will not gain a class. Hunting monsters will also restrict you from gaining 100 random stats per week. However, this skill can increase your stat capacity, and the cooldown will be shortened if the skill ranks up.

So that was why I didn't receive random stats before, and it explained the title I received at that time.

[Goblin Slayer 2]: After killing a thousand goblins, you will receive a bonus effect. Damage to goblins will increase by 20%, and resistance to heavy damage will increase by 25%.

It was better not to tell this to others. It seemed my system was different compared to theirs, maybe because of how I transmigrated.

"Hey, you're staring too much at my chest!"

"Huh!!? It's not what you think; I wasn't staring at your chest." Didn't she see the floating system panel in front of me?

"Lucas! You're here too? And who's this pretty girl?" Sam asked.

"I still don't know her; she was asking me to join their party. Ah, right, what's your name again? I just didn't hear it because I was lost in thought."

"Ah, my name is Ash Cred. I'm also a newcomer. I just awakened yesterday."

"This is Sam. He's my friend, who is just like a brother to me."

The leader of the party suddenly called everyone to prepare to depart further into the dungeon. "Looks like we're going now," Ash said.

"Lucas, I have to go now; it seems you two are being called." Sam went in a different direction.

No wonder the gate seemed different when I entered this dungeon. It was a double gate. It was rare to see a gate inside a gate.

I kept looking around until we met an earthworm that was 20 meters tall. Its body seemed impossible to pierce with normal weapons, yet the leader pulled out machine guns. What!? It pierced?

The party leader laughed while firing at the earthworm until it was killed. I was shocked that the earthworm died from just a machine gun.

"It's not just a normal machine gun, Lucas," Ash explained. "Our party leader is a marksman type, so he can cast mana into his bullets to pierce the skin of an earthworm, as long as he doesn't run out of mana."

I didn't expect that having a class made you that much stronger. I wanted to have one, but my skills restricted me from taking a class.

"Everyone, bring those materials. We're going inside the cave to rest," the leader ordered. "We can't continue driving or we might get attacked by those monsters. It's better to rest right now."

"Lucas, are you curious who our leader is? He is my father," Ash said. "He's reliable when it comes to missions. Right now, he protects his comrades whenever they're in danger."

I was lost in thought again. Hearing her speak made it seem like she really liked her father. Did my parents miss me? I missed them. Also, before I transmigrated into this world, I didn't know what was happening to them.

"Lucas, are you alright? It seems like you're gonna cry at any moment," she said.

"I'm fine; it's just that I'm tired. I'm going to sleep." It seemed everyone else was sleeping too.

When I woke up, Ash was hugging me tightly. I woke her up, and when she realized how she was hugging me, she blushed and didn't know what to say. I laughed.

"I'm sorry! It's just my habit to hug a pillow; I didn't mean..."

I told her that it was fine. By then, everyone else was awake. I packed my belongings, and suddenly I noticed something on the ground. I picked it up, and it was a ring. Suddenly, a panel came out with info about the item.

Type: Ring

Name: Scorching Night

Effect: During the night, MP increases by 25%. During the day, HP increases by 25%. Increases damage to monsters by 15%.

It was a real item, but since everyone else missed it while leaving the cave, it was better to put it into my inventory.

The other members of the party were talking about what classes they had. Then they asked what my class was. Before I could answer, Ash spoke up and said I was a fighter. I felt relieved when she said it, and she looked at me with a gentle smile.

We arrived at our destination, which was the inner gate. We went inside and saw a large structure made of thick sandstone.

As we walked the path through the door, we saw a massive pile of gold. The party members seemed happy, thinking they had struck it big. However, the leader told them not to touch the gold, or else they were going to get attacked by the monsters lingering above.

We continued to walk around. I saw a portrait on the wall and placed my hand against it as I walked. I noticed the portrait depicted people worshipping the God of Knowledge. The ring I picked up earlier seemed like it belonged here. Looking closer at the wall, I saw a pattern identical to the ring. I placed the ring into the keyhole. Suddenly, a hidden door on my side slid open. I peered inside, but when I looked back, everyone else had completely stopped moving.

"Don't worry, they'll be back to normal. I stopped time for a minute," a voice said.

"I'm here to talk about the ring you picked up, so listen: that ring might help you. And I'll give this book to you. I don't have much time; I've been using my power to protect this text. The ring might tell you where you belong."

He disappeared just like that, and everyone snapped back to normal. In my hands sat a new skill book.

[Time of Life and Death]: You can revive a life; however, your stats will reset to 1, except for your titles, artifacts, and buffs.

Effect: Increases damage to all living beings by 50%. Meanwhile, you gain a 70% damage reduction against undead beings.
