Chapter 411 - Ch 217 - The Childish Tailed Beasts

The wind howled softly through the broken ruins of the Land of Whirlpool, brushing over the cracked stone and long-forgotten memories buried beneath the moss-covered rubble.

Naruto stood at the center of a flat expanse surrounded by crumbling pillars and collapsed stone walls, their once-grand architecture now eroded by time. His blond hair rustled in the breeze as he gazed up at the sky briefly, silver light cascading over his face. Then he turned to Gaara, who followed silently behind, his usual emotionless mask thinner than before.

"This spot will do," Naruto said, his voice casual, but there was a spark in his eyes that was focused, calm, and deadly serious beneath the grin.

Gaara looked around, scanning the surroundings.

It was eerily quiet, but the natural world had begun reclaiming the land. The grass had taken root in cracks of the earth, vines creeping up broken stones, fluttering in the wind like ancient whispers.

Gaara's gaze returned to Naruto. "So what's the plan?"

Naruto grinned, slapping a palm on Gaara's shoulder with familiarity. "We're gonna pull Shukaku out first. Then I'll put him right back in with a stronger seal."

Gaara blinked slowly. "Pulling out the Tailed Beast… that will kill me."

Naruto didn't deny it. His expression sobered instantly. "Yeah, technically. But only if I take too long. The moment he's out, I'll start the resealing. You just gotta hang in there until I do it. Think you can manage?"

The red-haired Kazekage nodded slowly. "I trust you."

Naruto chuckled, flashing his signature grin. "Good. 'Cause I'm Naruto Uzumaki, the second best damn Fūinjutsu expert alive. Just don't die on me before the fun starts."

A rare smirk tugged at Gaara's lips, faint but genuine.

Naruto turned his head slightly, squinting. "But before that… I need to humble that oversized sand raccoon of yours. Don't want him throwing a tantrum midway through and messing everything up."

He closed his eyes briefly, chakra gathering with a silent pulse around him. The world around them shimmered for a moment.

Gaara felt a sudden, sharp shift like being plunged into a deep pool. When he opened his eyes, he wasn't standing on the grassy wasteland anymore.

The ground beneath him had turned to a small dark pond, endless water under a dark sky.

The air was thick, heavy with chakra, like pressure building just before a storm.

And before them loomed a massive presence.

It was Shukaku!

He sat with his arms lazily folded over his round body, legs sprawled, massive tail twitching behind him like a cat growing increasingly irritated. His dark blue seals shimmered faintly under the strange light, and his jagged mouth curled in a scowl when he saw the visitors.

"Well, well," Shukaku growled, voice like grinding sand and echoing thunder. "Look who's come crawling into my little den. The fox brat's host. And the broken one."

Naruto grinned cheekily and waved. "Yo! Long time, no see, Shukaku. You're looking… fluffy."

"Don't mock me, brat," Shukaku growled, the earth shaking slightly as he adjusted his hulking body. "What do you want?"

"Just stopping by for a friendly chat," Naruto said, stepping forward casually as if he hadn't just strolled into the mental prison of a volatile Tailed Beast. "We're pulling you out, resealing you. Thought I'd come by, see how you're doing. Maybe knock you around a little if you get uppity."

"Pfft..."

Shukaku narrowed his eyes at him, then shifted his glare to Gaara. "And you. Still clinging to me like a parasite? Let me go already, damn it. I'm tired of babysitting your fragile mind."

Gaara's fists clenched at his sides, but he said nothing.

Naruto rolled his eyes. "He's not clinging to you, you flea-infested sandbag. He's the only reason you weren't sealed in a jar years ago. Honestly, you should be thanking him."

"Tch."

Shukaku's eyes gleamed dangerously. "Don't act high and mighty. You're only smug because your damn fox thinks he's a big shot."

"Oh? Speaking of foxes…"

A rumble echoed around them, low and powerful, as another chakra surged into the shared mental plane. Behind Naruto, a second massive form began to materialize that was taller and more menacing, with glowing red fur and a presence that felt like fire itself.

Kurama, the Nine-Tails, materialized with slow, confident steps, each paw thudding against the sand as he emerged beside his host.

"Well, if it isn't the runt," Kurama sneered, looking down at Shukaku with a grin that bared rows of gleaming teeth. "Still compensating with that giant tail, I see."

"You son of a—!" Shukaku roared, leaping to his feet and causing a tremor to ripple through the landscape. "I've been waiting to settle the score, Kurama! You and your damn smugness!"

Kurama snorted, the flick of his tails creating gusts of wind. "Keep dreaming. You're still at the bottom of the food chain, little tanuki... always have been."

The two beasts squared off, energy crackling between them like a gathering storm. The sheer pressure from their clashing chakras made the sand swirl violently, whirling around Naruto and Gaara in massive spirals.

Gaara instinctively stepped back, shielding his face, while Naruto remained calm, watching the exchange with interest.

"These guys," Naruto muttered with a small laugh. "Put them in the same room, and it's like watching siblings fight over a toy."

He turned to Gaara. "I swear, you'd think after centuries of existence, they'd learn some maturity."

Gaara looked at him incredulously. "You… talk to the Nine-Tails like that?"

Naruto just gave him a cocky wink. "He lives in my belly. I get to sass him all I want."

Kurama didn't even bother denying it, though he did shoot Naruto an annoyed glare.

"You let him talk like that?" Shukaku demanded, gesturing one clawed hand toward Naruto. "Have you gone soft?!"

Kurama growled. "No, I just know when to pick my battles. Unlike you, who barks louder than he bites."

That was the final straw.

Shukaku let out a bellowing roar and charged forward, chakra swirling around him like a raging sandstorm.

Kurama met the challenge head-on, slamming one massive paw into the ground as the two beasts collided in a burst of raw power.

Naruto winced. "Okay, that's enough roughhousing. I didn't come here for kaiju battle night."

With a flick of his fingers, Naruto formed a hand seal, and golden chakra surged outward in a pulse, freezing the landscape. The sandstorm halted mid-air.

Both Tailed Beasts froze in place, caught in Naruto's chakra like flies in amber.

Even Kurama blinked; his giant body stiffened against the sudden force.

Shukaku growled, "What the hell…?"

Naruto stepped forward, golden chakra cloak swirling around him like a tempest, his eyes glowing with a firm, commanding light. "Listen up. I'm not here to play games. We're pulling you out and resealing you, Shukaku. You can either cooperate and not make Gaara's life hell, or I'll personally crush your soul into submission before shoving you back into the seal."

He pointed at Kurama. "He learned to behave. So can you."

Kurama rolled his eyes. "Don't lump me in with that rodent."

Shukaku growled lowly but didn't speak. He just glared at Naruto with glowing yellow eyes.

Gaara stepped forward slowly. "Will it hurt?"

Naruto glanced back at him and softened his voice. "Not for long. But I won't lie... it's going to be intense. That connection between you two is deeper than people think."

Gaara's expression darkened slightly. "I've lived with his voice in my head for as long as I can remember. The rage… the hatred…"

Naruto put a hand on his shoulder again. "You've lived with him, but you always have to look over your back. Now you're going to live with him on equal terms... with no more chains around your mind. You two can also become friends if you try, just like Kurama and me."

Gaara looked at Shukaku, his constant tormentor, his shadow, and for the first time, he didn't see a monster.

He saw… a part of himself.

And maybe, just maybe, it didn't have to be that way forever.

Naruto turned and smiled. "Alright. Let's begin."
