...
Then Drew let go and stepped back with a grin that said he had already started imagining the match ending in his favor. Show rolled his shoulder and lifted the title once more, looking every bit like a man who knew how dangerous the challenge now was.
Justin Roberts moved in near ringside, and the official announcement came through, making the whole thing sound even more real.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest has been made official for later tonight… Drew McIntyre versus Big Show… in a non title match!"
The crowd roared again.
A second later, Drew's music hit.
The sound of bagpipes and hard driving guitar filled the arena, and Drew gave the audience one last glance before turning and walking with purpose toward the ropes. The fans were loud the whole way, split between cheering and shouting at him to hurry back and win the title later.
Big Show stayed in the ring for a moment longer, staring after him, then slowly turned and exited the other side, heading up the ramp as well. The two men separated the way two wars often did before they reconnected later in an even bigger explosion.
As Drew reached the stage, he looked back once at Big Show in the ring. The giant was still standing tall, the championship over his shoulder, the look in his eyes telling everyone that he was not handing this over lightly.
Then both men disappeared to the back.
The broadcast returned to the ring and then moved on to the rest of the show, but the energy in the building had changed. The fans were buzzing too hard to settle down. Every match after that was watched through the same question, would Sandro appear? Would the Undisputed System come out to retaliate? Would the God King himself show his face after losing the title that had defined his reign of terror?
The answer, for a while, was no.
One match came and went. Then another. A tag match followed. A singles match after that. The crowd kept looking up at the stage every time entrance music started, half expecting the entire arena to erupt under the shadow of Sandro. But there was nothing.
No gold plated entrance. No smug smile from the billionaire tyrant. No Wade Barrett barking orders at ringside. No Bobby Lashley stalking the stage like a killer in a suit. No Ryback. No Ziggler. Nothing.
That only made the anticipation worse.
Finally, as the broadcast entirely entered its third hour, the camera completely cut away from the arena bowl, entirely transitioning to a highly anticipated backstage segment.
The camera slowly panned across a familiar, heavily customized locker room door.
The gold plated letters reading "THE UNDISPUTED SYSTEM" were still completely affixed to the wood, but the entire atmosphere surrounding the room was incredibly dark and depressing.
The camera entirely pushed through the door, revealing the absolute, fractured remnants of the greatest faction in modern history.
Sitting on the leather couches, entirely looking like men who were actively waiting for a death sentence, were Wade Barrett, Ryback, and Dolph Ziggler.
The absolute second their faces appeared on the massive TitanTron in the arena, the Orlando crowd completely erupted into a massive, deafening chorus of incredibly loud, entirely hateful boos. The fans entirely despised the three men, completely remembering the year of absolute terror and toxic interference they had inflicted upon the WWE Universe.
Inside the locker room, the tension was entirely suffocating.
Wade Barrett, entirely stepping up as the de facto leader in the absolute absence of Sandro, was frantically pacing back and forth across the carpet. His face was entirely bruised from the chokeslam he had taken from the Big Show the night prior. He looked incredibly angry, his eyes darting completely around the room with sheer, unmitigated paranoia.
"Nothing?" Wade asked, his thick English accent entirely laced with absolute panic. He stopped pacing and looked directly at Ryback and Ziggler. "Are you absolutely telling me that neither of you have heard a single bloody word? No phone calls from the God King? No text messages? Absolutely no contact whatsoever since last night?!"
Ryback, completely sitting on the edge of the sofa, his massive arms entirely crossed over his chest, simply shook his head silently. The massive powerhouse looked completely lost without someone actively barking orders at him.
Dolph Ziggler, sitting on the opposite couch, frantically swiped at the screen of his smartphone, his face entirely pale.
"I've got absolutely nothing, Wade," Ziggler entirely confirmed, his voice shaking slightly. "I've called Sandro's private line five times. It goes straight to voicemail. I even tried to reach the Queens. I called AJ, I texted Nikki, I even completely tried to DM Alexa on Twitter. Nothing. It is complete radio silence. They have completely gone dark."
Wade let out a furious, entirely exasperated groan, violently running his hands over his face. He completely kicked a nearby folding chair, sending it entirely clattering across the room.
"This is brilliant. Absolutely bloody brilliant!" Wade shouted, entirely losing his temper as the paranoia completely took over. "He loses the United States Championship, and he completely abandons us! We are entirely flying blind!"
Wade turned around, entirely pointing a heavy finger at both Ziggler and Ryback, his eyes wide with absolute dread.
"You two better listen to me, and you better listen to me very carefully," Wade warned them, his voice dropping into a frantic, entirely terrified whisper. "We need to be incredibly careful around here tonight. We need to keep our heads on an absolute swivel, you understand me? Because every single person in that bloody locker room down the hall has massive bones to pick with us."
Ziggler swallowed hard, entirely realizing the terrifying reality of their situation.
"For an entire year, we were completely untouchable," Wade continued, aggressively pacing again. "Because we had the absolute numbers advantage! Because we had the God King completely protecting us from upper management! But look around this room! The God King is completely gone! Those three bastards, Big E, Kofi, and Woods, entirely mutinied and completely betrayed us, exactly like Drew did! They entirely jumped ship!"
Wade stopped, completely looking at the empty spaces in the locker room.
"It's only the three of us left," Wade entirely summarized, his voice completely devoid of hope. "There is no backup. There is no insurance policy. There is no Paul Heyman. Just the three of us. And I guarantee you, the entire RAW roster is entirely licking their chops, waiting for the perfect opportunity to completely exact their revenge for everything we did to them when we had the power."
The Orlando crowd entirely cheered loudly at the promo, completely agreeing with Wade's assessment. The bullies were finally completely unprotected.
And then, as if completely summoned by Wade Barrett's absolute paranoia...
BANG! BANG! BANG!
A massive, incredibly loud, entirely aggressive knock completely rattled the locker room door!
The three men inside completely froze. Ryback entirely stopped breathing. Ziggler's smartphone completely slipped out of his hand, dropping onto the carpet. Wade Barrett's eyes went completely wide with absolute, mortal terror. They entirely stared at the heavy wooden door, absolutely terrified to answer it.
They didn't want to open it.
But they entirely didn't have a choice.
A split second later, the heavy wooden door was entirely, violently forced completely open!
The hinges audibly cracked as the door was aggressively kicked inward, slamming violently against the locker room wall!
Standing in the doorway, completely filling the frame with an absolutely terrifying, unified presence, was the entire upper echelon of the Monday Night RAW babyface roster.
Leading the pack, completely wearing his signature denim shorts and sneakers, was John Cena. Standing directly to his right, entirely cracking his knuckles with a cold, entirely sociopathic stare, was Randy Orton. And standing to Cena's left, completely blocking any hope of escape, was the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry.
Behind them, entirely crowding the hallway, were a dozen other superstars who had been completely victimized by the Undisputed System over the past year.
John Cena looked entirely around the empty locker room, noting the sheer, unadulterated panic on the faces of Barrett, Ryback, and Ziggler. Cena didn't say a single word. He simply let out a dark, entirely menacing smile, completely acknowledging that it was finally time to collect on a year's worth of debts.
"Get 'em," Cena entirely ordered, completely unleashing the hounds.
The entire RAW roster violently flooded completely into the Undisputed System locker room!
It was an absolute, unmitigated slaughter!
Randy Orton violently grabbed Dolph Ziggler, completely launching him face first into the metal lockers!
Mark Henry entirely picked up Wade Barrett completely by his throat, violently hoisting the Englishman into the air!
John Cena aggressively tackled Ryback over the leather sofa, entirely initiating a massive, chaotic, incredibly violent three on twenty beatdown!
"Oh my god!" Cole shrieked on commentary! "The RAW locker room is completely exacting their revenge! The Undisputed System is being entirely destroyed!"
"This is exactly what happens when you lose your protection!" JBL wept, entirely burying his face in his hands! "They are being completely slaughtered in there! Somebody call security!"
The camera completely cut away from the violent backstage carnage, returning entirely to the live feed of the Amway Center. The Orlando crowd was completely on their feet, absolutely cheering their lungs out, entirely ecstatic that the remaining toxic members of Sandro's empire were finally receiving their absolute, incredibly violent karma.
The arena was buzzing with pure, unadulterated joy.
But the fans had absolutely no idea that the surprises for the evening were just entirely beginning.
Suddenly, as the fans continued to cheer the backstage beatdown, the entire arena completely plunged into absolute, pitch black darkness!
The crowd completely fell silent, entirely confused by the sudden lighting change. Did the Undertaker arrive? Was the God King finally making his dramatic, terrifying return?
The silence hung in the air for five agonizing seconds.
And then, entirely cutting through the absolute darkness, a massive, incredibly booming, deeply soulful, entirely unhinged voice completely echoed through the massive PA system!
"OHHHHHH WWE UNIVERSE!"
The crowd gasped, entirely confused, completely failing to recognize the voice.
"DON'T YOU DARE BE SOUR!" Big E's voice entirely commanded with absolute, terrifying conviction! "CLAP FOR THE THREE MEN WHO ARE NOW FREE... AND FEEEEEEEEL THE POWERRRRRR!"
The absolute second the word "power" completely left the speakers, the arena lights violently exploded back to life, entirely bathing the entrance stage in incredibly bright, completely obnoxious neon pink and baby blue lighting!
A massive, incredibly upbeat, highly energetic gospel funk fusion entrance theme entirely hit the arena speakers!
The bassline was incredibly heavy, completely accompanied by an upbeat choir singing a completely repetitive, impossibly catchy melody!
The Orlando crowd entirely didn't know exactly how to react. They were completely stunned. But as the sheer, unadulterated energy of the music completely washed over them, they entirely chose to react with absolute, deafening cheers!
Stepping out completely from behind the curtain, entirely making their highly anticipated debut as a newly liberated trio, was The New Day!
But they looked absolutely, entirely nothing like the corporate, serious, dark suited hounds they had been twenty four hours prior.
Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods were completely decked out in matching, incredibly vibrant, borderline offensive neon pink and blue wrestling gear. But the absolute absurdity of their entrance was completely staggering.
Xavier Woods walked out completely playing a massive, incredibly shiny brass trombone!
He was aggressively blowing into the instrument, perfectly hitting the notes of their upbeat entrance theme!
Kofi Kingston was entirely skipping down the incredibly long entrance ramp!
He wasn't walking, he was actively, aggressively skipping, a massive, incredibly infectious, entirely unhinged smile completely plastered across his face!
He was wearing a completely ridiculous, incredibly bright plastic unicorn horn entirely strapped to his forehead!
And Big E... Big E was entirely a spectacle unto himself. The massive, three hundred pound powerhouse was aggressively, entirely rhythmically swinging his massive hips in a deeply confusing, incredibly hilarious gyrating motion!
He completely clapped his hands together above his head, aggressively demanding the fans to join in the rhythm!
"What... what in the absolute world am I looking at?!" Cole shrieked on commentary, entirely bursting into genuine, uncontrollable laughter at the absolute absurdity of the presentation! "Is that... is Xavier Woods entirely playing a trombone?!"
"I have absolutely no idea what is happening, Michael!" Lawler laughed so hard he entirely had to take off his headset! "They have unicorn horns! They are completely skipping! What has entirely gotten into these three men?!"
"This is an absolute disgrace!" JBL wailed, entirely disgusted by the comedic display. "They completely abandoned the prestige of the Undisputed System to become a traveling circus act! This is completely embarrassing! Sandro Zhang must be entirely sick to his stomach watching this!"
But the fans completely entirely disagreed with JBL.
The initial confusion completely, entirely melted away, instantly replaced by an absolutely infectious, incredibly electric energy. The crowd began to completely clap their hands to the exact rhythm of the upbeat music!
Kofi, E, and Woods completely skipped and danced down the incredibly long entrance ramp. They entirely stopped to aggressively high five the fans in the front row, completely interacting with the crowd with a level of pure, unadulterated positivity that was so entirely overwhelming it bordered on complete psychological warfare.
Woods aggressively tooted the trombone entirely in the face of a completely bewildered cameraman. Big E entirely swiveled his hips, completely rubbing his hands together as he entirely skipped up the steel stairs.
The newly liberated trio completely slid under the bottom ropes, entirely entering the squared circle.
They stood in the dead center of the ring, completely surrounded by twenty thousand cheering fans, entirely clapping their hands and completely soaking in the absolute bizarre, completely magnificent glory of their brand new kayfabe identity. The New Day had officially arrived on Monday Night RAW, and the entire landscape of the tag team division was completely, entirely about to be fundamentally altered by the power of positivity.
