Evelyn stepped out of the elevator on the twenty-second floor at exactly 8:47 a.m., new badge clipped to her blazer and a fresh notebook clutched in her hand. The Communications department hummed with quiet efficiency. Glass walls, sleek desks, and the low murmur of focused conversation.
Priya found her almost immediately.
"You must be Evelyn," the woman said, offering a firm handshake. She was in her mid-thirties, sharp-eyed and put-together in a way that suggested she wasted no movement. "I'm Priya Sharma, your team lead. Welcome to the chaos. Come on, I'll get you settled."
Priya moved fast but not unkindly. She showed Evelyn to her desk, handed over a thick onboarding binder, and gave her logins for three different systems Evelyn had never seen before.
"Most new hires spend the first week just figuring out where the coffee machine is," Priya said. "Read through everything. Ask questions when you need to. We don't expect perfection on day one."
