Technically speaking, Alterra retrieved the token at a record speed of one minute after the official start of the war.
Taking over the token from the Lord was an unofficial win but the official announcement would always be after the war.
Anything can happen after all, and there have been many cases of 'legendary comebacks' in history where another guard or citizen retrieved the token from enemy hands before the war officially ended, perhaps even becoming Lords themselves.
The token would merge as soon as the war ended, so whoever held it at that exact moment, if there was no token guard, would be the new Lord.
But since there had been no accidents, they would record this glorious deed as one of Alterra's current 'world record'.
Still, some hours later, using the special sand bikes they created, the party headed back, dragging the Lord and his cronies—all of whom had their appendages broken beforehand—near the territory for efficiency.
