Chapter 99: Emergency
25 June, Konoha Year 46
The Border of the land of Fire - Near Land Of Grass
Because of the growing threat of war, several squads of Konoha shinobi had been deployed along the borders of the Land of Fire. Their orders were simple first observe the enemy, report about them and delay them if necessary. Yet despite the urgency behind the mission, few weeks passed without a single sign of the enemy.
There is no one in the forest or a enemy sight on the border, everything is too quiet and peaceful. For the shinobi stationed there, this was both a blessing and a curse. At first, they remained alert, their eyes are always sharp and use their senses to detect an enemy. But as time dragged on and nothing happened, tension slowly eroded into doubt.
Some of the younger ninja began to relax.
One of them leaned against a tree, loosening his grip on his kunai. "Is this… really happening?" he muttered. "What if this whole thing was just a false alarm?"
Another shinobi glanced around uneasily. "Don't say that out loud."
"But it's been days," the first one insisted. "We haven't even seen their shadow. The wasn't even enemy scouts, and they didn't even install a traps, nothing. If the enemy was coming, we would've felt it by now."
Their commander stood several steps from them, his arms folded, eyes fixed on the treeline. He was an elite jōnin have done several A rank mission and two S Rank mission. He had a lot of experience and not easily swayed by impatience. His instincts as a ninja are always making him focused.
Looking at his subordinate who complained nonstop finally make him stepped forward.
"I don't think it's a false alarm," he said calmly.
The younger shinobi frowned. "Commander, why haven't they moved?"
"Because predators don't always charge head-on," the commander replied. "Some wait."
Hearing the commander nonchalant comment about predator make all the squad become quiet and didn't know how to respond.
The commander or his real name Sarutobi Shinosuke, he had become elite jonin thanks to a huge collection of jutsu that make him formidable in a battle.
He also knows clearly the real situation about this operation, although their supplies are steady but this wasn't covered by Daimyo instead it was a fund left by Konoha and Uzumaki Clan had also donated food for them.
This make him and even several other Sarutobi shinobi realised, that something was wrong about their Fire Daimyo.
But that was for the Hokage to solve and his work is to patrol here with his team.
"Let's wait a few more days," Sarutobi Shinosuke said. "If nothing happens by then, we'll send a report to the Hokage. Until then, stay sharp."
They are nodded while some of them sighed in relief because they have a chance to return to Konoha.
But suddenly, except Shinobsuke no one noticed the subtle shift in the air.
Suddenly a figure the moved so fast attacking one of them

Blood sprayed across the forest floor.
For a split second, no one reacted.
A shinobi who just nodded his head collapsed forward, his eyes wide andhis throat cleanly pierced. The shock froze the patrol in place, their minds refusing to process what had just happened.
Before anyone could scream, another body fell.
A second shinobi crumpled to the ground, chest torn open as if struck by an invisible force. Panic erupted instantly.
"Enemy attack!" someone shouted.
The commander reacted on instinct. He reached into his vest and activated an emergency sealing scroll, slamming it onto the ground. Chakra surged through the markings as the scroll recorded everything, this scroll is made by Uzumaki clan and it has the ability to record thirty seconds before and thirty seconds after activation, before transmitting the data directly to Konoha command center.
An emergency signal flared into the sky.
In konoha command center, the shinobi who had been tasked to received any signal from the people on the border finally reacted.
"Send the fastest runner to the Hokage!"
A blur shot off towards the Hokage building.
Meanwhile, the battle are still happen on the frontline.
The remaining shinobi formed a defensive circle, their weapons drawn and their hearts pounding. Sweat rolled down their temples as they searched desperately for the attacker.
Then they felt it and saw a figure moved so fast and stand infront of them.
Third Raikage are not smiling but looked very serious.
"Just an ant who are waiting to be crushed," commented Raikage.
After hearing this, they could the pressure released by this man.
It was overwhelming because it makes them suffocating, because the person who was infront of them are not normal ninja but the Raikage himself.
A common knowledge has been formed that every shinobi who manage to become Kage on their village are very strong. That they can beat multiple shinobi on their village with ease.
That is why they become afraid that it made their legs tremble.
For a moment, no one from Konoha side breathed.
This wasn't just an enemy ninja.
This was a strongest shinobi that they need to face. .
A man said to rival tailed beasts in raw power after beating up 8 tails.
Several shinobi swallowed hard. Others felt their knees weaken.
"What… what is he doing here?" someone whispered and everyone could heard how heavy his voice shaking.
The commander forced himself to stand tall, even as fear clawed at his spine. This was Fire Country territory. An open violation and a declaration of war.
"Raikage," the commander said, his voice steady despite the terror in his chest. "This is the Land of Fire. You are crossing a line."
The Third Raikage looked at him.
Then he muttered a single word.
"Ant."
The commander eyes widened and a seconds later the Raikage vanished.
Before he could say anything, he felt pain exploded through the his chest as lightning-infused fingers pierced straight through him. He barely had time to gasp before his vision went dark.
His body hit the ground lifelessly.
Terror erupted among the remaining shinobi.
"Our commander!"
"He killed him!"
Some froze in horror. Others screamed. A few forced themselves to fight back, hurling kunai, activating jutsu, desperation overriding fear.
The Raikage moved like a living catastrophe killing every ninja who try to fight back.
