Chapter 101 - Please Come Out, Luna

DIANA'S POV

It wasn't even night time, yet the moon shines along with the sun at broad daylight. I was standing in front of the building where I live, feeling the warm strong winds blow my hair as it fly all across my face. I wrapped the locks on one side, when I noticed a piece of paper in my hand. I opened it but there's nothing written. Instead of throwing it away, I folded it and kept it in my pocket. Something churns in my stomach as I stare at the doorway of my residential building, but it felt like I needed to go up. I walked in the lobby and groaned after seeing the elevator under maintenance. "Really?", I grunted. Forcing myself to use the stairs to the 21st floor, I dragged my feet climbing on every flight of the stairs. The deafening silence in the staircase was disturbingly bothering, together with the flickering lights in one of the floors of the building. Tiny droplets of sweat started to appear on my forehead when I reached the 12th floor. Moments later, I heard someone going up the stairs a few floors down. Peeking downstairs, I saw a black figure holding onto the side rails as it climb up. At first it was just clacking footsteps walking slowly. I looked up and realized there's no one else other than me and the person a few floors below me. I continued going up as I sighed anxiously. Then, it walked the same pace as I do. I stopped again for a while and took a quick glance down. And to my surprise, it stopped too and even took a peek up to me. I nervously shifted my gaze ahead of me and dared to look again. It then started running! The sound of its feet climbing the stairs made my heart race in edginess. I ascended the stairs in larger steps until I saw myself running as fast as I could. I looked down and the black figure was no longer there. I hurriedly went to the corridors and reached for the door of my home. I sighed in relief as I finally entered my house. Then, I felt eerie as if something was watching me from behind. When I turned around, I saw a dark figure sitting on my couch. It slowly stood up and walked up to me. As it step into the light, I screamed at its bloodshot eyes and sharp fangs as it lunge unto me…

I woke up screaming until I lose my breath. Wriggling my arms in the air protecting myself from something I thought was real. Falling off the couch, I woke up from the fearful and vivid nightmare. My neck even tingles, like the vampire in my dream really had its fangs sunk in my flesh.

"Bad dream?", Kristia asked as she offer a hand to help me stand up.

Panting heavily, I took her hand. "Sort of..", I didn't know how I slept on the couch when I was at the room locked with Roman. I sat back on the couch, leaned my head backward, with my palms covering my face.

"What is it about?", Kristia asked earnestly, as she sit beside me.

"Ah.. just one of the common fears I have", rubbing my eyes, as I turn to her with a timid smile.

Kristia neither move away, nor removed her gaze on me. She sat beside me, with her hands fiddling together. "Can you tell me about it?", she asked again.

"Oh.. uhh.. A vampire attacked me. I went back home in the city, then there he was waiting for me in my house. As soon as I closed the door, it attacked me", I answered. Her face tightened, giving me a certain look that tells me something's off. I started to get worried.

"Did... it bit you?", Kristia asked.

"No, I woke up. It did felt like it bit me though, but it didn't because I woke up", I explained, rubbing my neck. "You look worried.. it's just a dream, Kristia", I smiled as I tap her warm hands.

Kristia turned her hand and held mine pulling me closer. "Have you heard of Rêve de Lune?", Kristia asked, not changing that serious expression drawn in her face.

"No".

"Rêve de Lune means dream of the Luna. They say that the Luna's dream is a premonition of what's going to happen..", Kristia explained, again with that steady look that seem unfazed.

"You mean.. my dreams are signs?", I asked.

"No.. your dreams tells you what will happen sometime in the future. When a Luna dreams, it comes true", Kristia's glassy eyes lowered down, squeezing my hand firm enough.

"Like a warning..", I muttered.

"Like a preview. ", Kristia replied instantly. "So, your dream.. it just told you that you're going to be attacked by a vampire in your home.", she warned.

"Can it be stopped?", We make our own destiny. There's no way my dreams would literally come true. Well, it did once when I dreamt of the Big Bad Wolf and got attacked thereafter. But, how could it happen if I'm here? I'm certain that the previous dream that I had came true because it was a nothing but a mere coincidence.

"No. Nothing can stop your destiny. They are bound to happen whether you like it or not. Rêve de Lune", Kristia warned, releasing her grip on my hand. "Be careful, always".

I sighed sharply with a smile. Then, I looked around and noticed no one is inside the hut aside from me and Kristia. "Kristia, how did I ended up in the couch?", I asked.

"The beds in your room were all broken. There's nowhere else to sleep in so, Roman laid you here on the couch", she told me. "Sleep more. They all went out for a run to pay respects to the werewolves of this valley. Roman's father is the head of the council here.". That was when Kristia finally smiled, the usual jovial beam who doesn't have bad memories etched in her mind.

"At this time of the night?", I looked at the clock on the wall, and it was already past nine in the evening. I can't imagine how easily I let my guard down with Roman. I'm glad he didn't took advantage of me at all.

"It has been long overdue. Don't worry, we are safe here. This house may be old, but it's protected with different kinds of spells", Kristia told me with a certain kind of relief. "I'll be going in now. Good night, Luna", she waved good night, as I gave her a smile.

The hut then grew quiet with only the mix of screams, rustles and peeps were heard coming from outside. I opened the door, and leaned on its frame as I stare in the dark. Crossing my arms, the cool winds enveloped my body, making me shiver. Thinking of until when will I stay here, I deeply sighed with grief and longing for the life I have back in the city. Kate would definitely freak out until she hears my stories.

As I was about to close the door, a light which flickered in the dark have caught my eye. Looking closely, I thought I saw a seemingly tiny person in shiny clothing, waving at me like it's signaling me to come out. Thinking that the dark may be playing tricks with me, I blinked my eyes a few times and peered through the raven surrounding.

And yes, he was still standing there and kept waving at me nonstop. There can't be a person that small, I thought. In a place where I can be a prey of any creature, I dared not to entertain a strange looking fellow. And so, I decided to shut the door instead. As the door gently close, a hard knock thumped startling me. I opened it a little, and was caught by surprise to see the tiny man already at the entrance of the cabin. He was so little, he's just a size of half of my leg.He had a very angelic face up close. His eyes were so dark like the night, and his ears sharp leaf-shaped ears were like wings on the side of his head. His clothes were shining in brilliance like stars in the sky. It's an elf, I suppose. Though, I haven't seen one before. "Please come out, Luna. Scott is here", he said.

Feeling uncertain with the elf who doesn't seemed acquainted with Scott, I didn't move from behind the door. I am not afraid, for the house is protected... exactly just what Kristia assured of me. "I don't want to see him", I refused.

"But.. he's here for you", he said with his lips curved down. "Let's hurry, Roman and the werewolves will come back anytime soon. We'll miss our chance to escape", he rushed.

Freedom. The tiny man's offer was too tempting to take. Thinking about it, it wasn't bad at all. So, I closed the door again. Dashed to the kitchen to get a small knife. Took a black cloak hanging behind the door and wore it over the white dress Kristia let me wear. Slowly, I opened the door and found the tiny man still waiting for me. For the sake of freedom and a way to talk to Scott, I agreed. "Where is he?".

The elf's lips curved up, as his pointed ears shifted a little. "I'm Ofir, by the way. Shall we go?", he asked, as he back off. Despite I opened the door wide enough for him to come in, the tiny man never attempted to enter the cabin. As soon as I stepped out, the elf lifted his palm midair and blew gold dusts to my face. Instantly, I felt lightheaded as the world spin into a blur. In a moment, everything turned black... with the smiling elf as the last thing I saw.

AUTHOR'S POV, Earlier

"She deserves that! She's too loud!"

Wren tells Scott as he stare at the severed body of Christina. The elf couldn't understand how a lycan king is too soft to make decisions, and punish an offender with death. "Now there's finally peace in my forest once again", Wren padded after Scott, soundless, humming to itself like a child who had never learned fear.

Scott couldn't sit still with the presence of the lythari elf around. He told himself it wasn't worth killing it, but yet, he didn't quite believe it now. It is true indeed that Christina is getting to his nerves and her persistence is over the top, but he never thought of ending her life even in the lightest way possible. Given that she once threatened the life of his Luna, mercy still finds his way towards the woman who saved his life once. He looked back at Wren, smiling peacefully at the rock. He couldn't be more sure what a powerful creature would want in him. "What do you want?", his sharp voice tickled a more sinister smile on the lythari.

"Have I caught your attention now, lycan king?", Wren asked, with eyes that looked like the deepest part of the ocean hiding secrets that Scott couldn't imagine. As tiny as he is, Wren undeniably possesses great power that summons the earth to put blood in his tiny hands.

"I never wanted to repeat myself", Scott tightened his jaw, realizing that the elf indeed wanted something from him.

"Then.. shall we go?", Wren vanished into thin air and appeared right before Scott's eyes. Gold drifted from its fingers. Not falling, but choosing were to land. It reached for him, but Scott was faster. Scott's hand closed around the creature before dust could touch his face. Wren fit entirely in his grip. Bones. Breath. And panic. Something that he has been very careful about and yet, still found its way to happen. Scott's grip tightened, grappling the elf like a piece of twig. Wren squealed as Scott crushes his tiny body. "If... you... kill me... you won't see... Diana again!", he shrieked, thinly and breaking. But that wasn't enough to halt the angered Alpha. He had heard lies before. They all sounded like such in the end. "The lythar-ians...", Wren gasped. "They will kill her! They got.. her!!", that was Wren's last straw and fortunately it worked.

"What did you say?!", Scott gritted his teeth, loosening his grip but no longer tightening them. "Why the hell will you kill her!?".

Wren heaved hard. His tiny head spun as his body gets squeezed. "The Luna is lycan king's weakness... You shouldn't have one", he said, struggling at each breath.

"Take me to her", Scott released the lythari, dropping him on the ground. "And no more dusts, vines and shit".

Wren crawled on the ground until he could stand on his feet. He knew that no matter how strong their unearthly magic are, they have no match on the lycan king's strength. "Follow me", he told Scott as he lead him across the stream.

The two travelled for hours. Wren offered water and food but Scott never accepted them. Scott endured the thirst and hunger as they trudge the forest. Thinking the lythari might not really leading him to some place, he stopped and turned around at the lyhari hovering on a large leaf. "Are you after my death too? Because if you are, you might as well try it now".

"No one in this valley would dare kill a cursed lycan", Wren said as he gave Scott a wide smile. "Relax, we are here", he flicked his both hands and opened a path through the thick bushes.

Looking ahead, Scott was skeptic to take a step towards the path which is too dark to see the other end. Every instinct told him to turn back. Everything instinct mattered told him not to. Despite it felt wrong, and he cannot tell if it's more of the lythari's traps, his desperation was hungrier than his suspicions. The elf didn't seemed to move midair, waiting for Scott to come inside as if it was his only choice if he wanted to see Diana. And then, with Diana in his mind, Scott darted forward the dark hole through the bushes... leaving Wren with a bright big smile on his tiny lips.
