Melissa and El didn't hear him, or Melissa would've pushed me out of the way.
'If he's in my head, then it has to be Dylan!' I can't mind-link anyone else.
'I can't leave you!' I never could. 'We just have to get you out!'
'For-get… me,' he grunted, the strain bad enough that it echoed through his thoughts. 'Don't… let them catch you again!'
Gods help me, he's right, but I refuse to leave without him.
"D, it's time to go now," Melissa changed her tone, talking to me like I was a child, but I ignored her. She wanted to grab me, but every time she got close, Dylan snapped his teeth at her. "He's dangerous; you don't want to lose a limb."
"Hurry it up, Melissa," El fought with the chains, but Dylan was impossible to hold down, even with how weak he is. "Shurakai aren't exactly welcome here!"
Shurakai. That same word from the cafe. Something tickled my brain, but something else shoved it aside, forcing the curse to back off.
