"So, this is where you two have been hiding."
I opened my eyes, smiling at the shadow above me.
He's the last person I'd have expected, but seeing him is a welcome surprise.
"Busted," grinning, I sat up from my chair, unable to hide my excitement.
"Very," Ivan sat beside me, the deck chair creaking in annoyance, but it held.
"You won't turn me in, will you, officer?" It took me a few seconds, but I managed my sweetest smile, pleased as Ivan laughed.
"Officer? Really? I didn't know you were into that," he teased, cupping my face. The cool waves washed over my skin, followed by the pleasant sparks I still can't explain.
"Only for you," things had changed for me. Dying gives you perspective, and I'm not willing to hide my feelings anymore. At least most of them. "Can I bribe you?"
"I'm not cheap." Instead of getting up or giving into the game, Ivan leaned back in the chair, his arm behind his back.
