Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: True Culprits

"I have some information about this case."

That single sentence immediately caused everyone to turn their heads in the direction of the unexpected speaker who had just voiced those words.

The unexpected person slowly walked into the police station. Yu Qi and Grandpa Tang, who had been preparing to leave, paused in their steps and turned back to look at him.

That unexpected person was none other than a middle-aged man, Mr Liam, a neighbour of Madam Jiang. Mr Liam walked forward at a steady pace, approaching Madam Jiang and Sir Man Pao Ting with a serious expression on his face.

"Sung Wa, Sir, I saw someone entering your farm yesterday evening." Mr Liam said, his gaze fixed firmly on Madam Jiang.

"What? You saw that incident? Do you know who the culprits are?" Madam Jiang immediately stood up in shock and anxiously grabbed Mr Liam's arm, her voice trembling slightly.

"Yes, I know them. You also know them. She has been entering your farm for the past three days. I thought you had given her permission to enter and take your vegetables since her actions appeared very natural." Mr Liam replied slowly, carefully explaining what he had witnessed.

"Who were they?" Sir Man Pao Ting asked without hesitation.

This case had already caused too much trouble, and now that there was a real eyewitness, he could not help but feel a sense of urgency.

"It was the Wang Family. The ones who entered your farm were Wang Shi Xen and her daughters," Mr Liam said.

However, he did not realise that his statement had exploded like an atomic bomb in Madam Jiang's mind.

Madam Jiang clenched her teeth tightly in anger. How dare they? The Wang Family was truly skilled at framing others while secretly stealing from them.

She had completely believed the Wang Family when they told her that their ex-adopted daughter had stolen her vegetables and sold them. The way they had told the story had been so convincing.

Wang Family! Very good… Ah, very good! Madam Jiang was practically fuming with rage.

"How do you know about this case?" Sir Man Pao Ting asked Mr Liam again.

He did not want another baseless claim. He was already developing a headache from everything that had happened earlier.

Therefore, he wanted to clarify everything properly before this situation became even more chaotic.

"He was in my shop buying vegetables when the police officers came and asked me about this case." Aunt Chang answered on behalf of Mr Liam when she heard Sir Man Pao Ting questioning him.

"Bring the Wang Family to the police station immediately." Sir Man Pao Ting ordered his subordinates.

He truly did not know what to say anymore. This case had turned out to be far more ridiculous than he had initially expected.

Sir Man Pao Ting was already familiar with the Wang Family. He had previously heard about their earlier case from his senior. The Wang Family held deep grudges against Miss Yu Qi.

They had once planned the kidnapping of Miss Yu Qi's boss to lure her out, intending to sell her into prostitution.

But even that was not enough for them.

They had also attempted to take her money, and now they had gone as far as framing Miss Yu Qi for theft.

This Wang Family was truly something else.

The more he thought about it, the more speechless he became.

Meanwhile, at the Wang Family's house…

The Wang Family was currently in the middle of their meal, eating the stolen vegetables without the slightest trace of guilt or conscience. The four members of the family sat around the table, complaining about the dishes, especially the youngest son. Wang Yu Jin was the one who complained the most.

"Mum, can we eat meat? We have been eating vegetables for the past three days straight. I am already bored with this." Wang Yu Jin complained loudly.

He threw a small tantrum, clearly dissatisfied. He desperately wanted to eat meat, and to him, the vegetables tasted no better than plain grass.

"My dear, it's not that I don't want to give you meat, but we are on a tight budget. Our money is barely enough to support us for two months. Without your father here, we have to save as much as we can. I promise we will eat some meat soon, alright?" Madam Wang coaxed her youngest son gently while trying to feed him some stir-fried vegetables.

However, beneath her gentle expression, resentment was quietly building up, directed toward the girl who had caused all of their current misfortune.

Wang Fu Ya and Wang Ha Na exchanged glances and rolled their eyes when they saw their mother doting on their younger brother. Madam Wang had always been biased toward him, pampering him endlessly and spoiling him far too much.

The meal ended with each of them holding their own silent complaints. Afterwards, Madam Wang brought out some watermelon for her children. Wang Yu Jin ate a few pieces before running off to his room, leaving Madam Wang alone with her daughters.

"After this, we would not be able to get free food anymore." Madam Wang sighed, her voice filled with worry.

Wang Fu Ya and Wang Ha Na looked at each other. They both understood exactly what their mother meant.

"Mum, do you think Aunty Jiang will find out that we were the ones who stole her vegetables?" Wang Ha Na asked nervously.

"Don't worry. She will never find out. No one saw us." Madam Wang replied confidently.

"After all, she already suspects someone else." Wang Fu Ya added with a smirk, clearly pleased at the thought of someone else taking the blame and possibly ending up in jail.

That morning, when Madam Jiang returned home, she discovered that her farm had been destroyed. Taking advantage of the situation, Madam Wang sent Wang Ha Na to speak with her. Wang Ha Na told Madam Jiang that she had seen Yu Qi selling vegetables at Aunt Chang's shop, which immediately planted suspicion in Madam Jiang's mind.

In truth, Madam Wang had not originally planned to frame Yu Qi in this matter. She had a completely different plan.

Her initial idea had been to tell Madam Jiang that she had accidentally seen someone else entering the farm and stealing vegetables.

Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

When Wang Ha Na came to speak with her while she was harvesting vegetables for dinner, she casually mentioned seeing Yu Qi selling vegetables. That comment triggered Madam Wang's anger, and she ended up venting her frustration on the crops.

In her rage, she destroyed almost all of the plants.

By the time she realized what she had done, it was already too late.

She was utterly petrified by the situation.

When Wang Ha Na saw the destruction, she immediately ran back home to call for her sister, Wang Fu Ya, to help their mother. Without hesitation, Wang Fu Ya rushed over.

It was then that Wang Fu Ya quickly devised a plan to frame Yu Qi on the spot.

And that was how everything had unfolded.

The Wang Family remained completely unaware that their plan had already failed—until the police officers arrived and knocked on their door.

Wang Fu Ya, who went to answer the door, froze in shock the moment she saw the police officers standing outside. She was so stunned that she could not even speak.

"Fu Ya, who is it?" Madam Wang called out as she walked over.

"Madam Wang, we are from the police station. We request that you and your family come with us to the station." One of the officers said firmly.

Wang Fu Ya and Madam Wang instantly turned pale when they heard those words.

A deep sense of dread filled their hearts as they realised that something had gone terribly wrong.
