Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Wang Family Members Were Master Of Scheming

The Wang Family, including their youngest son, were brought to the police station. The moment they entered, they immediately saw Yu Qi and Grandpa Tang standing quietly in one corner, while Madam Jiang sat across from a police officer.

When Madam Jiang saw the Wang Family, her anger surged rapidly. This family was truly something else. She felt utterly disgusted that she had actually believed those scums.

She wanted nothing more than to rush forward, grab Madam Wang, and scold her harshly. However, a firm voice stopped her before she could act on her impulse.

"Madam Jiang, please calm down. This is a police station. Rest assured, we will handle everything properly." Sir Man Pao Ting spoke in a stern tone, while at the same time trying to pacify Madam Jiang.

"Madam Wang, please follow me." A police officer said, gesturing for Madam Wang to come with him.

The children of the Wang Family instinctively wanted to follow their mother, but another police officer stopped them and instructed them to wait where they were. Wang Fu Ya and Wang Ha Na felt a wave of fear when they saw Madam Jiang glaring at them like a sharp dagger, as if she could stab them with her gaze alone.

Madam Jiang probably already knew the truth.

That realization made their fear deepen even further. But how did she find out?

At that moment, Wang Fu Ya caught sight of Yu Qi smirking faintly at them, as if silently saying, "You dug your own grave."

This bitch must have said something to the police officers and Madam Jiang, causing them to suspect the Wang Family.

Wang Ha Na could no longer hold herself back when she saw Yu Qi. She immediately stepped forward and approached her. However, Yu Qi's expression did not change at all when she saw Wang Ha Na coming closer.

Before Wang Ha Na could even reach her, Grandpa Tang stepped forward and blocked her path.

Wang Ha Na froze in place, stunned by the sudden obstruction. She looked up and saw that the elderly man standing before her was the rumoured wealthy old man who had taken pity on Yu Qi.

A thought quickly formed in her mind. If she acted pitifully in front of this rich old man, perhaps he would take pity on her as well. Perhaps… She could even replace Yu Qi and become his granddaughter.

"Humph… Mister, actually, I was the one who told Madam Jiang that Sister Yu Qi sold vegetables to the shop. But I was forced by my mother and sister. If I don't do what they tell me, they will punish me." Wang Ha Na said, her eyes turning teary.

She deliberately lowered her voice so that her sister would not hear her. At the same time, she tried to appear weak and fearful, subtly accusing her mother and sister of everything, making herself seem pitiful. With this, she believed the old man would surely sympathise with her.

"So what?" Grandpa Tang looked at Wang Ha Na with undisguised loathing.

"Er…" Wang Ha Na was left completely speechless.

She had expected sympathy and protection. Instead, she was met with nothing but disgust.

Wang Ha Na then turned her gaze toward Yu Qi, who had not said a single word. Yu Qi simply stood there, silently watching Wang Ha Na's performance as if it were an amusing show.

That only reinforced Wang Ha Na's belief that Yu Qi must have already spoken badly about her, which was why the old man looked at her with such contempt.

"Go back to your family. Do not disturb my precious granddaughter and me!" Grandpa Tang said loudly and sternly.

He truly could not stand this loathsome girl. Why was she acting so pitiful?

It was absolutely disgusting.

His loud voice echoed throughout the police station, immediately drawing everyone's attention. People turned to look, wondering what the young miss of the Wang Family had done to provoke such a stern reaction from the old man.

Wang Ha Na felt utterly embarrassed when her act failed. It even felt as if her trick had been completely exposed, making her feel even more humiliated. When she saw Yu Qi smirking faintly at her, it only deepened her shame.

Yu Qi's lips curved slightly, though it could hardly be called a smile. She had heard every single word Wang Ha Na said to Grandpa Tang. 'Tsk… did she really think Grandpa Tang was foolish enough to believe such obvious lies?'

Grandpa Tang still wore a look of disgust. That girl was truly scheming. Was this the kind of upbringing taught in the Wang Family? He had always thought that the Wang Family members were cunning, but this level of scheming… It was so shallow that only a fool would fall for it.

Meanwhile, inside an interrogation room…

Madam Wang was being questioned by two police officers, one of whom was Sir Man Pao Ting. However, Madam Wang refused to admit to any of her crimes. She denied every accusation firmly until the officers mentioned that there was a witness who had seen her actions clearly.

"Madam Wang, you are required to compensate Madam Jiang for her losses. That is certain. As for whether Madam Jiang chooses to sue you, that will be her decision." Sir Man Pao Ting concluded the interrogation with a final statement.

Madam Wang walked out of the room looking completely lifeless, as if her soul had already left her body. Shortly after, the children of the Wang Family were called in one by one for questioning.

Wang Fu Ya maintained a calm expression on the outside, but inside, she was trembling with fear. Wang Ha Na was on the verge of tears, while Wang Yu Jin had already begun crying loudly.

It was not as if Sir Man Pao Ting intended to harm them. He simply wanted to lecture them about right and wrong. These children were still young, but with parents like that, their upbringing was clearly flawed.

If things continued this way, they would inevitably follow in their parents' footsteps.

Back outside…

When Madam Jiang saw Madam Wang again, she glared at the wretched woman fiercely, as if she wanted to devour her alive.

"Shi Xen, I will make you pay for what you have done," Madam Jiang said coldly.

If this were not a police station, she would have already dragged that woman by the hair and taught her a harsh lesson. She had falsely accused an innocent person and said such hurtful words, all while believing the real culprit.

The shame she felt toward her earlier behavior toward Yu Qi was overwhelming.

Madam Jiang then stood up and walked slowly toward Yu Qi. Earlier, she had spoken in anger and had said many hurtful things to this young girl. Now that she had calmed down, hesitation filled her heart. But a mistake was still a mistake. She had to apologise.

"Yu Qi, I hope you can forgive me for everything I said earlier… especially when I called you a 'bastard child.'" Madam Jiang said sincerely.

"Sure. But I hope Madam Jiang will remember not to insult others like that again. Everyone has feelings, and attacking someone like that is not wise." Yu Qi replied calmly.

She smiled faintly. She might not take everything to heart, and even if she did, it would not affect her as deeply as it would affect others who might be ostracised or hurt by such words.

This entire drama had already lost its appeal. Yu Qi was tired of this Wang Family nonsense. She simply wanted to go home.

"Grandfather, let's go home. It's getting late." Yu Qi said softly.
