​Two weeks passed, and the tribe began its large-scale spring planting, sowing seeds directly into the flooded rice paddies.

​Euphoria's seedlings were still a bit delicate, so she decided to wait a few more days for them to strengthen before transplanting. The other orcs were baffled by her method; some kindly warned her that the seedlings wouldn't survive the move. She just offered a polite smile and said she wanted to experiment.

​A few days later, the "doomed" seedlings were thriving. While the other paddies still looked like bare mud, Euphoria's plot was a vibrant, hopeful green. Wayne spent every spare moment in the field; he knew how much Euphoria loved rice, so he tended to the crop with obsessive care.

​Perhaps it was the pregnancy, but Euphoria found herself missing her little snakes terribly. With the weather warming up, they would surely be awake by now. The prospect of not seeing them for several more months left a hollow ache in her chest.
