"Wayne!" Euphoria cried out, throwing her arms around the lion's neck. Luce still hadn't released his grip on her waist, so she ended up sandwiched between them, burying her face against Wayne's shoulder.
Wayne nuzzled her cheek, his eyes bright with a mix of joy and deep, aching relief. He couldn't stop himself from pressing kisses against her forehead and hair.
"It's my fault," Wayne whispered, his face darkening with a sudden flash of self-reproach. "I should have never let that demon beast get near you."
Euphoria pulled back just enough to look him in the eye and shook her head firmly. "Don't you dare blame yourself. It's over now. Look at me—I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"
Both Luce and Wayne, with their heightened predatory senses, had already confirmed she bore no scent of another male. Their hearts, which had been in turmoil for weeks, finally settled into a peaceful rhythm. Knowing she hadn't suffered made their happiness nearly overwhelming.
