Everyone's in the living room right now.
My grandma is probably badmouthing me right now, but I don't really care.
I just need to rest a bit...
"Yohan!"
"Yeah, at least you can understand me Alex, you're very smart—
—Wait, Alex!?"
My little brother was in my room. He always calls me Yohan because his teeths did not grow yet, so it's difficult for him to pronounce some sounds.
"Granny... bad!" he says.
"Haha, yeah. Granny is bad!" I said while picking him up.
"But your speech has really improved, huh? You're very smart, Alex!" I said.
And I meant it. Johan was born in February and it was already in the middle of May, yet he already knows how to form basic sentences.
His growth spurt seems to have slowed down though.
I wonder how hes going to do in a few months...
Knock, knock.
"Yeah?"
"Han, can I come in?"
It was my grandfather.
"Yeah, sure," I replied while sitting on my bed.
"Han... I know how much you must despise your grandmother. However, we haven't gathered together for years! You can't be staying in your room like this!" he said while gently putting his hand on my shoulder.
"But... please, can't we just do this another day?" I replied while looking at my feet.
"Johan... don't make me sad, please. It's a special moment for me. Think about how your mother must feel right now!" he replied.
"M-mom is sad," said Alex.
We both looked at him with surprise.
"Oh? What a fine young lad we have here! He must be worried about his mother!" said my grandfather while carrying him.
"Fine... I'll come down. But don't expect me to put on an act just to make grandma feel satisfied," I said while getting up.
...
"Oh, there he is. Settle down guys, the meal is ready," my mom said while guiding my grandfather to his seat.
"Dad, will it really be okay?" she said.
"Don't worry, Anissa, he's a clever guy!" he replied while going to seat.
The meal went smoother than I expected. Instead of harassing me, grandma just ignored me, and I decided to do the same.
Everyone was talking and the mood softened.
But despite the tension going down, my grandma still ignored me and my father.
In fact, she always hated my dad. As the filial daughter that she is, she inherited her parents' company and is filthy rich.
She wanted my mom to marry a famous actor whose father owned various buildings in Paris as well as a premium real estate company.
But my mom refused this marriage and fled home to live with my dad, who was just her boyfriend at the time.
In the end, my aunt inherited the company, and my grandmother has hated my dad and me ever since.
...
After eating, my father went to watch TV with grandpa, and mom had a long talk with my grandmother.
After his favourite program was finished, my grandpa got up.
He lifted Alex from his lap and laid him on the couch.
"Alright, I think it's about time that we leave," said my grandfather.
"Debra, come on, the driver is waiting for us. He must be bored all alone," he adds.
My mom helps her to stand and guides her to the front door.
"Damian, take care of Johan and Anissa for me please. I don't know when I'll be able to visit you guys again!" said my grandfather.
"Yes, I'll do my best, sir!" he replied.
Once again, my grandmother left without even saying goodbye.
...
Phew.
"They're gone! I thought I was going to die from all that pressure!" said my dad.
"Johan, we'll talk about this later," said my mom before going into her room.
She looked angry and sad at the same time.
"Don't worry too much, Johan. She's just worried, it will calm soon. On the other hand, you did a pretty good job covering Alex today, they didn't notice anything!" he tapped my shoulder before going into the kitchen.
I went back to my room and went to sleep unusually early.
...
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Urghh...
"Man... why do I have to be there so early..."
I said while turning off my alarm.
I went to Insta and saw that Lisa was online.
Ping.
"Uh, she sent me a message?"
[
Lisa: My mom's coming to pick you up
Lisa: I'm making sure that you won't duck it
Haha— As if...
Me: Ok
]
I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and came across my dad in the hallway.
"Up early, eh?" he asked while going to the kitchen.
"Dad, I'm going to the gym today," I replied.
"Gym? Why for?"
"I have to fight someone."
After I said that, there was a long silence.
"I mean, a fight with rules, you know? And a referee and things! I'm not going to beat up a random guy!" I said to clear up whatever misunderstanding he built in his mind.
"Well..." he poured coffee in his favourite mug.
"Do you mind if I go with you?" he said.
"Uhhh..."
...
"Yo Johan, you ready to go?" said Coach while sticking her head out of her car window.
"Hello coach, do you mind if my dad comes along?" I said while looking at him.
He waved at Coach while smiling.
"No problem, nobody on the front seat though!" she replies.
...
As we were driving, my dad finally began to speak.
"So, excuse me ma'am, but how did that happen?
I mean, my son signing up for a fight..." he asked.
"Well don't worry about it too much, he's just in there as a replacement, I don't expect much from him!" she replied.
That's great to hear, coach...
"Our fighter was injured, so we told the other coach about the replacement and we did all the procedures, so no need to worry," she added.
"Ok... can I stay to watch the fight?" he asked.
"Sure! Today's fight might be interesting!" she said while laughing.
...
"Huh, where did Damian and Johan go?"
Ping.
[
Dami: Honey, I'm going to the gym with Johan. Did you know he signed up for a fight? I'll be there to cheer him up so wish him good luck!
Me: Oh ok, be safe on the way there.
]
"A fight? What on earth?"
