Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: William's Ambition

As Lilith's words fell, a wave of pain nearly caused her to lose composure. This pain was far more intense than any of the previous Mutations.

Lilith only felt the bones in her back creaking and groaning. Immediately after, the transformation of her entire body, centered on her Spine, began to spread outward.

Her Ribs were frantically multiplying, thickening, and deforming, like the cutterhead of a Tunnel Boring Machine extending forward and closing.

Core muscle groups like the Latissimus Dorsi, Trapezius, and Pectoralis Major swelled, intertwined, and increased in density at an astonishing rate, as if possessing a life of their own.

The outline of her body also visibly grew stronger and more robust, brimming with explosive power.

On her epidermis, the Scale Armor brought by the Blood Python gene was reactivated and reshaped.

The scales became larger, thicker, overlapping at the edges, and shimmering with a silvery-white luster, resembling heavy Armor.

Lilith's entire Wingspan also completely detached from her Pterodactyl, becoming an independent existence. The edges of the Wingspan now flashed with a cold, metallic gleam from white Keratinous Blades, and the overall structure became broader.

This Mutation was far more powerful than imagined.

If, after fusing with the Blood Python gene, Lilith's body had become slender and lithe, it now turned more imposing and burly. Her massive frame exuded a far greater sense of oppression compared to before.

The Forelimbs, now separated from the Wingspan, also formed powerful, thick Claws during this Mutation. The sturdy Forelimbs seemed to contain explosive Strength.

Lilith slowly raised her massive body. The pain had completely vanished, which meant she had successfully completed this Mutation.

It felt unexpectedly good.

Moreover, the separation of the Bat Wings and Forelimbs gave Lilith more offensive options and greater agility on the ground.

No! To be more precise, Lilith had sprouted an additional pair of Pterodactyl, which then transformed into more aggressive Claws during the Mutation. On her back, the Bat Wings remained connected to the Pterodactyl.

It was just their position that had changed.

Spreading her Bat Wings, the 10-meter Wingspan elevated Lilith's speed to another level. The explosive power surging from her back could easily propel her massive body for high-speed flight.

With a slight mental command, the Blue Panel was summoned directly. The post-Mutation Attributes were displayed before Lilith's eyes.

Extending her forelimb Claws, she lightly scraped the adjacent Rock Wall, producing a shower of sparks. The Claws' hardness and sharpness far surpassed their previous state.

And now, with the heavy scales covering her body... Lilith's red vertical pupils narrowed slightly. Ordinary Firearms probably couldn't breach her Defense anymore.

This was exactly what Lilith wanted. After all, in combat, Firearms remained an unpredictable variable.

As long as she could disregard ordinary Firearms, she wouldn't need to be distracted by them during battle, at the very least.

Lilith flapped her massive Bat Wings. A surge of heavy force whipped up a gale, carrying her one-ton body as she flew through the Cave. She soon arrived at the Cave exit.

This test flight felt remarkably effortless and comfortable to Lilith. The improvement in Endurance allowed her to fly faster and for longer durations.

Her massive body landed on the ground. Lilith glanced at the sky. The duration of this Mutation was far longer than expected, lasting a full day.

Checking the time, there was still one day left until the next World Mission began.

In other words, she had one more day to prepare.

Lilith opened the Chat Channel and sent a message to William.

Although she wasn't sure what society was like now, she figured it should still be possible to acquire some Electric Eels.

Lilith had already decided on the species for her next Mutation: the Electric Eel. She had never fully understood the nature of Mana.

So, she wanted to try: if she fused with the Electric Eel gene and gained its electricity-generating ability, could she manipulate Mana?

Currently, Lilith didn't want to be limited to purely close-combat attacks.

Developing Mana and the Blood Attribute was also a significant shortcut to enhancing combat power.

Soon, William arrived alone. When he reached the Cave entrance and saw the unfamiliar yet familiar giant beast before him, he froze.

The overwhelming sense of oppression it exuded made his legs tremble uncontrollably just from a glance. It was the primal fear humans feel when facing a terrifying behemoth.

Suppressing his fear, William spoke cautiously.

"Lilith... Boss?"

[It's me.]

Lilith scratched characters on the ground to confirm her identity. Her current appearance had indeed changed quite a bit.

Not to mention her size, her exterior was also more ferocious than before, so it wasn't strange that William hadn't recognized her.

Therefore, Lilith communicated her next required prey to William through written text.

And asked if he could acquire it after the next World Mission ended.

William glanced at the text, looking somewhat helpless, but quickly provided an answer.

"Currently, I do know of a few Electric Eel Farms, but my knowledge of them is from before the Main God Game descended. I have no idea if they still exist now."

"Plus, nowadays, humans prefer 'Zero-cost Procurement.' Currency has long become worthless, while points have become the sought-after Currency."

At this point, William paused before continuing.

"If the Boss needs it, after the next World Mission ends, I'll send people to investigate. If any exist, I'll have them brought back. However..."

William looked at Lilith but didn't continue.

[However what...]

Lilith scratched on the ground, her expression questioning and curious.

She knew William was a very ambitious human.

William looked at the characters on the ground, took a deep breath, and spoke.

"If, after the next mission, we can swallow up all the Factions in the entire City, then even without those farms, I can arrange for people to capture Electric Eels from their native habitats."

"This would not only serve as training but also meet the Boss's needs."

"Right now, the entire world is expanding, consolidating into large and small Factions. If we fall behind, we might be devoured by stronger Factions in the future."

"So, to lead the world, seize the early advantage, and survive in the future, we cannot afford to be merciful."

As he spoke, William's eyes revealed determination and ambition.

Acquiring more resources, swallowing everything up—this was the opportunity to rise in chaotic times. Miss it, and you'd forever be one step behind.

Lilith looked at William and grinned, revealing chilling, blood-stained Fangs. The sight was ferocious and terrifying, sending shivers down one's Spine.

Lilith didn't answer the question directly. Instead, she scratched a line of large characters on the ground.

[How much do you know about the distribution of Factions and Armed Forces in the City?]
