Chapter 28 - The Absolute Zero

The air in the Northern Tundra didn't just feel cold; it felt sharp, like a million microscopic glass needles trying to shred the lungs. This wasn't a natural winter. The Sub-Zero Rift was a localized tear in reality where the concept of "heat" simply ceased to exist.

[AREA ENTERED: The Sub-Zero Rift]

[Ambient Temperature: -120°C]

[Environmental Debuff: 'Cryo-Stasis' — Movement Speed -50%, Mana Flow -80%]

Alex Silvester stood at the edge of the blue-ice canyon, his breath freezing into solid crystals before it even left his lips. Most Tier-5 professionals would be encased in protective thermal barriers or using high-level Fire-Mantra to keep their blood from turning to slush.

Alex, however, was dressed in nothing but tattered combat trousers.

His skin was a pale, marble white, but beneath the surface, a faint, rhythmic orange glow pulsed. His Thunder-Core Heart was working in overdrive, vibrating his entire skeletal structure to generate friction-based heat.

[SYSTEM CHECK: Internal Friction Tempering Active]

[Body Temperature: 37.5°C (Stable)]

"The Glacier-Marrow is at the bottom of the trench," Alex muttered, his voice a low vibration that cracked the nearby ice. "Sujata said the rift is guarded by 'Frost-Wraiths.' Creatures of pure entropy."

The Ghost of the Tundra

As Alex began his descent, the wind died down to an eerie, suffocating silence. From the walls of the translucent blue ice, shadows began to detach themselves. They had no solid form—just flickering, jagged silhouettes of white mist with glowing blue eyes.

[Monster Identified: Frost-Wraith (Elite)]

[Tier: 4]

[Passive: 'Physical Immunity' — 90% resistance to non-magical attacks]

"A physical fighter's nightmare," Alex whispered, a jagged smile touching his frozen lips. "The System thinks I can't touch what I can't see."

Three wraiths lunged, their clawed hands reaching for Alex's chest to drain his life-force.

[ Fist of Law-Breaking: Eleventh Insight — Thermal Disruption ]

Alex didn't punch at the wraiths. He slammed his palms together in front of his chest. The Thunder-Core discharged a massive burst of high-frequency vibration. In a split second, the air between his hands heated to over 2,000°C.

FWOOSH!

The localized heat bloom acted like a physical hammer in the sub-zero environment. The expansion of air was so violent that the wraiths weren't just hit—they were shattered. Their mist-forms couldn't handle the sudden molecular agitation.

[CRITICAL DISRUPTION!]

[Damage Type: Thermal Shock (Law-Breaking)]

[Exp Gained: 12,000]

"Next," Alex grunted, his feet shattering the ice as he leaped deeper into the abyss.

The Glacier-Marrow

At the very floor of the rift, the ice turned from blue to a deep, abyssal black. In the center of a frozen lake sat a pillar of crystalline bone—the fossilized remains of a Primordial Ice Dragon. Inside the translucent marrow of the bone, a liquid sapphire-colored substance flowed.

[Item Identified: Glacier-Marrow (Grade: Epic)]

[Required for: Five-Element Fusion (Water)]

As Alex approached the pillar, the ground began to tremble. The black ice beneath his feet groaned as a massive shadow rose from the depths. It was the Rift Guardian—a behemoth made of serrated ice and ancient malice.

[BOSS IDENTIFIED: The Cryo-Titan]

[Tier: 5 (Peak)]

[Combat Power: 1.2 Million]

"Another wall," Alex said, his golden eyes flaring. "I'm getting tired of walls."

The Titan roared, a sound that caused the entire canyon to suffer a massive avalanche. It swung a fist the size of a house, aimed directly at Alex's head.

[ Martial Domain: Absolute Density — Stage 2 ]

Alex didn't dodge. He planted his feet, his Bone-Tempering skeleton humming with the weight of a planet. When the Titan's fist hit him, the ice beneath Alex disintegrated for a hundred meters, but Alex himself didn't budge.

The Titan's icy arm shattered upon impact with Alex's shoulder. It was like a glass bottle hitting a diamond anvil.

"You're big," Alex said, his voice echoing through the Titan's hollow chest. "But you're hollow. You're just frozen mana. I... am Law."

Alex leaped. He didn't use a technique; he simply put his shoulder into the Titan's chest.

CRACK-BOOM!

The Titan, weighing thousands of tons, was lifted off its feet and sent crashing into the canyon wall. Alex followed up, his fist glowing with the white-hot friction of the Thunder-Core. He punched the center of the Titan's head, and the entire construct exploded into a million shards of harmless snow.

The Second Fusion

Alex walked to the dragon-bone pillar and shattered it with a casual flick of his wrist. He caught the glowing sapphire liquid in his hand. It felt like holding a handful of needles made of liquid nitrogen.

"Thirty days to survive," Alex reminded himself. "One down. Four to go."

He sat cross-legged on the black ice and swallowed the Glacier-Marrow.

[Progress to 6th Realm: 35%]

As the cold and the heat began to battle inside his chest, Alex's skin turned a strange, shimmering violet. He wasn't just getting stronger; he was becoming something the world hadn't seen in ten thousand years.

High above, a Bureau scout-drone watched the violet glow from the depths of the rift. In the Bureau's command center, Chancellor White watched the screen with trembling hands.

"He's not just a student anymore," the Chancellor whispered. "He's an Apex Predator."
