Jessica's POV
I unblocked him… but I didn't accept his friend request.
I left him hanging there.
Just like he once left me.
Then I texted him—
"What do you need now?"
He replied almost immediately.
"You were right."
I paused.
Then he continued—
"She married someone else after telling me she wouldn't. She lied to me… again and again… until the end."
A picture came next.
Her wedding photo.
Her standing with another man in a bridal dress.
For a second, I just stared at it.
And then—
I laughed.
I don't even know what it was.
Anger?
Satisfaction?
Or something broken inside me finally reacting?
"Karma is a bitch," I typed.
"See? I told you."
"You got your karma now."
I couldn't stop laughing.
"I am the happiest one in the world right now."
And I meant it in that moment.
At least… I thought I did.
He replied—
"I know. I deserved it."
"I did so many wrong things to you. I insulted your feelings, your emotions… I am the worst person."
Then—
"Please… if possible, forgive me."
"I realized you were the one who truly loved me."
I felt something twist inside me.
So I replied,
"Oh really? Now you understand?"
"Where were you when I needed you?"
My words turned sharp.
Cold.
I kept going, throwing everything I had held inside me for so long.
And he didn't fight back.
He just… listened.
Took it all.
And for a moment—
I felt powerful.
Like I had finally won something.
But deep down…
Something felt heavy too.
Because even while I was laughing at him…
I could see it clearly.
He wasn't winning either.
He had already been broken twice.
Then he said something that made everything stop.
"I knew from the very first time she would cheat."
"I went along with her plan just to use her."
"She had a fiancé… but she still wanted me. And honestly… who wouldn't enjoy a free meal?"
I went silent.
All the anger… all the satisfaction… suddenly felt different.
This wasn't just revenge anymore.
This was something messier.
Something empty.
And for the first time in a long time—
I didn't know who was the victim…
and who was the villai
I couldn't hold it in anymore.
"If you already knew everything… then why did you propose her? Why did you even get involved?"
There was a pause before he replied.
"You won't understand."
That line—
Again.
Always the same.
Always unfinished.
Always leaving me stuck in the middle of his thoughts.
I felt my frustration rising.
Why can't he ever just say things clearly?
It's like I either knew him completely… or not at all.
There was no in-between.
And suddenly, I started questioning everything.
Did he ever have feelings for me at all?
Before I could calm myself, he finally said something different.
"You also didn't wait for me."
I froze.
For a second, I couldn't even process it.
Then I replied instantly—
"What?"
"Didn't wait for you?"
"I waited for you for more than one and a half years."
"Isn't that enough?"
My hands were shaking as I typed.
"I tried to fix everything you broke. Even when you went back to your ex… I was still there."
"And before Siara, we still had something. But you cut me off like it meant nothing."
"How can you say I didn't wait?"
Silence followed.
And in that silence, I felt everything I had carried for so long… rise again.
All the waiting.
All the hoping.
All the breaking.
"I am sorry. I realized too late."
That was his reply.
Simple. Heavy. Late.
I stared at the screen for a long time, not knowing what to feel.
Then he asked—
"How is your relationship going?"
I paused.
My fingers hovered over the screen.
"Good," I replied.
Even though it wasn't.
Even though everything inside me was still messy, unstable, and quietly breaking in places no one could see.
But I didn't want him to know.
I didn't want him to know that I still had hope buried somewhere inside me.
Because if he knew…
Then I wouldn't be able to hide it anymore.
And I wasn't ready for that truth either.
