Was declining a sword adorned with a fist-sized gem something to make him smile so brightly?
Haven had stated he had no interest in power, and he clearly had no interest in wealth either. I was relieved that he wasn't someone who would gather his own forces or accept bribes. Still, his request puzzled me.
"Spending about an hour a day isn't hard, but I don't see the point when we're almost together all day."
"Wouldn't it be nice to get to know each other more leisurely, like we did yesterday?"
It dawned on me then that yesterday's in-depth questioning was his way of getting to know me. No wonder he kept asking so many questions.
Understanding each other was important, especially when we were about to get married. The day before the engagement ceremony, all I knew about my fiancé was his professional work skills and warm lips, which was regrettable.
"Alright, let's do that. But you still need to choose a gift. I want to give you something."
