Kevin had just returned to his office and was going through a set of documents when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and answered.
"Speak."
Andy's voice came through immediately, unusually tense. "Sir, Mrs. Goodman has been involved in an accident."
Kevin's hand stopped over the document.
"What accident?" His voice remained calm, but somehow his heartbeat had quickened without him noticing.
"A truck lost control and hit several vehicles. Her car was among them." Andy hesitated.
"How bad?" Kevin's voice was as cold as usual.
"Madam's car got the worst hit," Andy said. This was not the first time he was delivering this kind of news. Kevin's ex-fiancée had also died in an accident.
Kevin stood unconsciously. "Situation?"
"She has been rushed to the hospital," Andy answered.
Kevin was already reaching for his jacket.
"Get the car."
"Yes, sir."
