Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Brave Mouse, Fear No Difficulty!

However, the next moment, he noticed that the house seemed a bit off. He had a feeling it wasn't his own home, and he felt a little panicked. But then, Jerry saw a cat sitting next to the food, busy eating, and immediately felt at ease again.

Jerry didn't even look closely; just seeing the familiar fur color, he knew it had to be Tom. As long as Tom was around, there was no need to panic.

Then, Jerry's gaze returned to the bag of food.

The room was quite dim at this time; a large living room was lit only by a not-so-bright flashlight.

Jerry nodded, quickly formulating a plan of action. With the dim environment, there was no doubt that his small size would allow him to quietly approach and easily get the food.

Looking at the plastic bag in the distance, Jerry smirked. This plan was reliable!

No more talk, let's get to it!

Jerry tiptoed out of his mouse hole, then accelerated towards the nearby cabinet with a posture of leaning back and extending his hands forward. His speed was quite fast, and his posture clearly wasn't like that of an ordinary mouse.

After confirming that the one person and one cat at the coffee table had not noticed him, Jerry used the same trick again, using several covers to quickly approach Tom from behind. The bag of food was placed to Tom's left!

Confirming that the one person and one cat were still engrossed in their meal, Jerry accelerated and appeared behind Tom.

At this point, Jerry once again became stealthy. He quickly moved to the side of the plastic bag in the blind spot of Haku and Tom's vision. Just as he was about to steal a box and make a run for it, he discovered that Tom's tail was resting on top of the bag.

He had no choice but to laboriously lift Tom's tail first, then toss it to the side.

As is well known, cats and cats' tails are two completely different creatures. For Tom, his tail was half another creature. As long as one didn't harm his tail, merely dragging it around would not be felt by Tom at all.

"Crunch~" However, while tossing the tail, Tom's tail tip just happened to brush against the handle of the plastic bag, making a small sound.

Although the sound was not loud, in this quiet environment, it was enough to attract attention. Hearing the sound he had made, Jerry's movements instantly froze. At this moment, both Haku and Tom heard the sound and looked in the direction of the bag, just in time to see a mouse on top, standing on its hind legs, giving an awkward smile.

Seeing that he had been exposed, he immediately jumped off the plastic bag and decisively chose to flee.

Haku was stunned, and Tom was also stunned at the same time.

Tom was stunned because he hadn't expected to encounter Jerry here.

About a second later, Haku finally reacted and quickly told Tom to act, "Gosh, there's a mouse, Tom!"

Hearing this, Tom casually put down his bento box and, with an unhappy expression, ran on all fours in the direction Jerry had fled, wanting to quickly deal with Jerry who had interrupted his meal.

"Can there really be mice in this house?" Watching Tom chase the mouse, Haku couldn't help but fall into deep thought. This house had been uninhabited for at least twenty years. According to Tom, the only previous resident was a ghost. How on earth could there be any food for a mouse to survive in such a place?

Unless... this mouse had only recently arrived. Otherwise, there shouldn't be a mouse surviving here. If there had been mice before, it just wouldn't be realistic, since there was absolutely no food in this house previously.

Thinking of this, Haku suddenly remembered, wasn't that mouse just now somewhat familiar?

And just then, Tom's mouse-catching state had entered a fever pitch. The mouse was currently dashing towards a mouse hole, but its speed was clearly much slower than Tom's, so much so that Tom arrived next to the mouse hole much faster than the mouse.

Standing next to the mouse hole, seeing Jerry about to arrive, Tom then gave a sinister smile, pulled the mouse hole with his finger, and moved it several tens of centimeters from its original position.

Unaware of this, Jerry charged headfirst towards his home, only to crash directly into the smooth wall. Because he was running too fast, Jerry was repelled about ten centimeters by the rebound after hitting the wall.

After shaking his head left and right a few times, he plopped down onto the ground, and golden stars, symbolizing dizziness, began to appear above his head.

"Aha!" Tom reached out and grabbed, and Jerry immediately fell into his hand.

Laughing, Tom, with his tongue hanging out like a dog, held Jerry in one hand and rushed towards the doorway, preparing to throw Jerry out of the house.

At this moment, Haku suddenly realized. It was clear that this mouse had only appeared after he arrived. Then, recalling the mouse's awkward standing and smiling posture, this mouse was probably Jerry, wasn't it?

Furthermore, this mouse had appeared to steal food right after he had performed the Servant summoning. Linking these two, Haku immediately began to suspect, could it be... that the summoning just now wasn't a complete failure, but merely that the target was too small for him to notice?

Realizing all this, Haku quickly shouted to Tom, "Wait a minute, Tom!"

However... it was a bit late to shout at this point. Tom was already holding Jerry and running quickly to the main door. He flung open the entrance door and tossed Jerry into the air.

Then Tom aimed carefully and gave a fierce kick, perfectly hitting Jerry who was in mid-air, "Bang!"

After kicking Jerry away, Tom put one hand on his forehead, watching Jerry fall. With an extremely perfect parabolic trajectory, he flew out of the house and landed perfectly in the trash can outside the door. At this level, the national football team would probably shout, 'Impossible, absolutely impossible!'

Seeing this, Tom clapped his hands in satisfaction, went back inside, and closed the door behind him.

And just then, Tom vaguely remembered if Haku had called him just now? So he immediately returned to Haku's front.

"Oh, this…" Seeing Tom return after disposing of the mouse, Haku slapped his forehead. He had been careless.

Looking at Tom, who was proudly asking for credit, Haku could only stroke Tom's head and encourage him perfunctorily, "Ah, impressive, impressive."

He couldn't possibly blame Tom for being too fast at catching mice, could he? If doing so lowered Tom's favorability, Haku would probably feel so regretful that he'd explode on the spot.

Now, he could only wait for the mouse, presumably Jerry, to return quickly and then commit its next crime.

Outside, Jerry had just struggled to climb from the bottom of the trash can to its edge. He rested his head on his left elbow, while the fingers of his other hand tapped rhythmically on the trash can, a small frown on his face as he looked towards the house.

First wall-outside foraging mission, failed!
