My heart and mind were fighting to take control. My mind kept throwing warnings at me.... reminding me of everything I had heard about him, the things that were never fully make sense, the parts of him that felt unclear. It told me to say no, to not get involved any further. But my heart.... but it wasn't scare in the same way. It was drawn to him.... to the way he carried himself, the quite confidence, the way he made everything feel..... different.
I sat there, stuck between the two, my fingers curling slightly as I avoid looking at him. The silence stretched, but it wasn't empty. It felt filled.... with his presence, with the weight of his attention on me. I could feel it without even looking.
"Still thinking?" he asked, his voice calm, but there was a certain firmness in it.
I glanced at him, and he was already watching me. Not impatient. Not annnoyed. Just... sure.
Like he knew I'd say yes.
That somehow made my heart beat faster.
"I..." I started, but stopped.
Why was this so hard?
I tried to listen to my mind again, but it felt distant now. Because the truth was..... I didn't want to walk away. Not this time. Not from him.
A slowly looked up, meeting his eyes properly this time.
For a second, everything else faded.
"....okay" I said, my voice soft but clear,
There was a brief pause.
He didn't look surprised. Instead, a faint, almost satisfied smile appeared one his lips. Not teasing... just confident, like he had expected this all along.
"Good," he said simply.
His tone wasn't forceful, but it carried a quite authority that made my breath hitch slightly.
He leaned back just a little, his posture relaxing now, and nodded once.
"Be ready by 8," he added.
"I will pick you up."
It didn't sound like a question.
I nodded before I could overthink it again.
For a moment, we just sat there, and I could feel his gaze linger on me a second longer than necessary..... steady, unreadable, but not distant. Then he stood up, adjusting his sleeves casually.
I stood up too, suddenly aware of everything again..... my heartbeat, my thoughts, him.
Without saying anything else, we both turned and started walking in opposite directions.
It was almost 6 now.
And somehow, instead of feeling unsure.... It's felt like, I had just stepped into something I wouldn't be able to walk away from easily.
I reached home with slow, tired steps, my mind still replaying every moment from the evening like a loop I couldn't turn off. The warm of the house wrapped around me the second I stepped inside, familiar and comforting..... but it did nothing to calm the storm inside my head.
"Stella?" grandma's voice called softly from the living room.
I walked in, forcing my expression to stay normal. The moment her eyes landed on me, I knew she could send something was off.
"Are you okay, baby?"
I paused for a second, the word sitting heavy in my throat.
"Grandma..... I'm going out tonight."
Her brows pulled together in surprise. "At this hour?"
"It's just a party," I said quietly, avoiding her eyes. "A friend invited me."
"A friend?" she repeated, her tone careful, observant.
I nodded, even though the friend word
felt... incomplete.
There was a moment of silence before she sighed, shaking her head slightly.
"Alright.... but be careful."
"I will."
"And don't be too late."
"I won't."
Before she could asked anything else, I quickly made my way upstairs. The second my door closed, I leaned back against it, letting out of slow breath.
This was really happening.
I walked toward my wardrobe, my finger brushing over familiar clothes before stopping at something different.... a black dress. Simple, elegant.... but bold in a way I wasn't used to.
After getting ready, I stood infront of the mirror, staring at my reflection for longer than I should have.
For a moment, I didn't recognise the girl looking back.
She looked.... different.
A soft honk echoed from outside.
My heart skipped instantly.
He was here.
I grabbed my phone and rushed downstairs. "Grandma, I'm leaving!"
"Take care!" She called back.
The cool night air hit my skin as I stepped outside.... and there he was.
Jungkook.
Leaning casually against his car like he had all the time in the world.
His eyes lifted to me the moment I appeared... and didn't move away.
Not a quick glance.
A slow, deliberate look.
"You took your time," he said.
"It hasn't been that long," I replied, trying to sound normal.
A faint smirked curved on his lips. " Get in."
I did, silently, my heartbeat louder than the car engine. He joined a second later, and the drive began.
I was quiet.
But not empty.
"You clean up well," he said suddenly, eyes still on the road.
I turned to him. "Is that a version of your compliment?"
"Take it however you want."
I looked away, holding the small smile forming on my lips.
Soon, the car slowed down.
Lights flashed ahead. Music thumped through the air. A crowd gathered like wave waiting to pull us in.
We had reached the party.
He stepped out first, then walked around and opened my door. I hesitated for just a second before stepping out.
"Coming?" he asked.
I nodded.
The moment we walked in, the noise hit loud... music, laughter, voices blending into Chaos. It was overwhelming.
Without thinking, I moved a little closer to him.
He noticed instantly.
"Stay close," he said, his voice low but
firm.
"Okay."
We moved further inside, and I could feel it... the attention. People staring at him.... then at me.whispering
It made my chest tighten.
But I didn't step away.
Our arms burshed once.
Then again.
Neither of a us moved back.
And then...
"Jungkook."
We both stopped.
I turned to see a girl standing few steps away. she looked confident, sharp.... the kind of person who knew exactly the effect she had on others.
Her eyes slowly shifted to me.
Then she smiled.
But it wasn't a kind smile.
"Well... this is new," she said.
My fingers curled slightly at my side.
Jungkook didn't replied immediately.
I glanced at him, and that's when I noticed it... his expression had changed. controlled.. but tense.
"You didn't tell her?" the girl asked, her gaze still fixed on me.
My breath caught.
Tell me what?
"Not now," Jungkook said quietly.
There was something sharp on his tone. A warning.
She let out a soft laugh."Oh, come on.... she deserves to know."
My heart started racing faster, louder.
Before I could step back or say anything, she move closer, leaning slightly towards me.
"You really don't know who you came here with... do you?" she whispered.
Everything around me faded.
The music.
The voices.
The lights.
Everything gone.
I turned to jungkook instantly.
And this time.....
I felt it.
This wasn't just a party anymore.
