Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Breaking Point

The emotional strain had reached its peak.

Ava and Theo spent an entire day in deep conversation, laying everything bare. They talked about jealousy, about what true commitment meant when another version of the man she loved existed, about whether their love was strong enough to survive the rift. Tears were shed. Voices cracked. They held each other through the hardest truths.

By evening, they returned to the atrium together, determined to confront the situation head-on rather than run from it.

The echo-version was already waiting — fully visible, standing near the center pillar with the same warm eyes and possessive stance as the real Theo.

The three of them sat down and talked for hours. Real Theo and the echo shared memories, fears, and the depth of their love for Ava. She listened, heart aching, as both versions expressed how much she meant to them — one from months of voice-only connection, the other from the passionate reality of the present.

As the conversation turned raw and vulnerable, the physical pull became impossible to ignore.

Theo — the real one — kissed Ava with deep emotion. They made love slowly on the soft blanket they had brought, their bodies moving together with tenderness and quiet intensity. Every touch carried the weight of their promises. When pleasure crested, it was gentle but profound, both of them whispering "I love you" as they came.

Afterward, Ava knelt before him and took him into her mouth again, sucking with slow, loving devotion, wanting to show him through this intimate act how deeply she chose him. Theo stroked her hair gently, murmuring words of love and gratitude until he finished with a soft sigh.

The echo-version watched quietly from a distance, pain and longing clear on his face.

"We can't keep doing this forever," real Theo said, voice thick with emotion as he held Ava close. "I want a real life with you — marriage, a home, a future without looking over our shoulders. But to make that happen, we may have to face the hardest choice yet."

The echo nodded, expression serious. "The building is demanding balance. One final night where the three of us confront what this connection really means. After that… one of us stays, and one of us fades. Permanently."

Ava's heart clenched with fear and love as she looked between the two identical men who both held pieces of her heart.

"I choose you," she whispered to the real Theo, but her eyes flicked to the echo with complicated compassion. "But I don't want to destroy part of you either."

As the rain began to fall harder outside, the atrium lights dimmed once more. A new, softer echo began to form — not just of Theo, but a faint outline of a future Ava, watching the three of them with knowing, sorrowful eyes.

The building's hum grew louder, and a single sentence echoed through the atrium in both Theos' voices at once: "Tomorrow night. All of us. No more hiding."
