Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Pursuer Lancelot

"The true culprit of the 'Incineration of Humanity' incident!"

"A way to defeat him!" Except for Bedivere, who didn't yet know what the Incineration of Humanity was about, everyone else crowded around. Even Da Vinci in the driver's seat stopped paying attention to driving.

"Details!" Da Vinci urged, staring at Daniel nervously.

"While I'd love to give details, the most important thing right now is to intercept Lancelot and his unit's pursuit," Daniel reminded them, pointing toward the diagonal rear. "They've already caught up."

Lancelot's banner had already appeared on the sand dunes.

"Da Vinci, find a way to create a bright light in the sky; we need Lancelot to see the shield Mash is holding at the very front!" Daniel said. "Mash! When Lancelot slashes out his sword aura later, go and block it with your shield. Remember, as long as you firmly believe you can block it, that shield will respond to your expectations."

"Shield? Is there something different about this shield?" Mash asked, looking at the shield she had manifested with some confusion.

"The owner of that shield was also a Knight of the Round Table." Just as Bedivere was hesitating, wondering whether to tell Mash who the Servant residing within her was, Daniel directly spoke up to reveal the mystery that some had known since Singularity F all the way to the Sixth Singularity: "And he is Lancelot's son."

"Sir Galahad." Seeing that Daniel had already mostly exposed Galahad's identity, Bedivere quickly added his colleague's name.

Hearing this, Da Vinci said nothing and directly fired an illumination magic bullet into the sky.

The light from mid-air instantly illuminated half the sky.

On the other side, Lancelot had already aimed his sword at the lead vehicle of the exiles, and a sword aura flew toward everyone almost simultaneously.

"Leave it to me!" When she heard that name, Mash felt as if some blocked channel within her body had been cleared.

It felt very refreshing!

Even the mobilization of magical energy was much smoother than before.

Bang!

The collision of sword aura and shield.

The result was the sword aura being neutralized, while Mash, holding the shield, took two steps back.

Compared to the scene where she was sent flying by a single strike from Gawain before, this could be described as rapid progress.

"That is..." Under the effect of the illumination magic bullet, Lancelot easily noticed the shield Mash was holding, as well as her armor and that somewhat similar half-covered hairstyle. "Ga... Galahad?"

How did my big son turn into such a big daughter?

And... Gareth is there too...

Son becomes daughter, fan-girl becomes younger brother.

Is there any hope left for this world?

"Da Vinci, keep moving." Daniel, fully armed, jumped off the vehicle and said to Da Vinci, who had stood up in the driver's seat, "Let's see if Lancelot will still make a move against us."

"Got it!" Da Vinci restarted the vehicle without a second thought.

Mash, carrying her great shield, also jumped off the vehicle and stood by Daniel's side.

"Mr. Daniel, I'll help you!"

"Count me in." Sanzang wanted to jump down too, but Daniel stopped her.

"No, no, no, at a time like this, it should be a genius like me who intercepts them."

"Fujimaru, what do you say?" Daniel saw that Lancelot's cavalry unit was also getting restless and turned to ask Fujimaru Ritsuka.

"If we go all out, do we have a chance against Lancelot?" Fujimaru Ritsuka asked.

"There's a slight chance, but it's not high," Daniel replied with a nod. "And we have to be mentally prepared to lose two or three people from our combat force."

Unless Sanzang used her ultimate move right now, otherwise, there was a possibility they'd all be wiped out here.

"The best way right now is to temporarily stall Lancelot and buy everyone more time to escape," Daniel continued. "If it's just temporarily stalling Lancelot's movements, Mash and I can do it together."

"Afterward, as long as we steal two of their horses, we can escape from them."

With himself and Mash there, Lancelot would make a move, but he wouldn't use lethal force.

"I understand. Then I'll leave it to you, Mr. Daniel, Mash." Fujimaru Ritsuka looked at the two with a resolute expression.

"Wait a minute!" Sanzang suddenly shouted.

"Sanzang! Some of Lancelot's subordinates might break through Mash and my defense. When that happens, I'll leave the safety of Fujimaru and these locals to you."

Daniel's move completely caught Sanzang off guard.

It turned out that if she stayed behind and a knight managed to break through their line and kill the locals, her sin would be grave.

"Don't die here!" Sanzang shouted, looking at Daniel. "As the last human of that world, if you die here, the fire of your original civilization will be completely extinguished!"

Hearing this, everyone's gaze instantly focused on Daniel.

Daniel was stunned for a moment, finally understanding why Sanzang had been willing to stay by his side despite worrying about her chastity.

She saw him as the last human from a world where the fire of civilization had already been completely extinguished.

With a bitter smile, he waved at Da Vinci, and the vehicle immediately started moving.

"Mr. Daniel, you..." Mash looked at Daniel beside her with a complex expression.

"Could it be, Daniel, that you aren't a Heroic Spirit, but a person from the future?" Romani on the screen also sized Daniel up with a shocked expression, pressing for an answer.

"It's a misunderstanding on Sanzang's part," Daniel replied with a bitter smile. "She and I met in a world where the fire of civilization was completely out and the seeds of life had vanished. It seems she mistakenly thinks I'm the last living human from that world."

"But unfortunately, I am not a native lifeform of that world, but someone who can't find home and is forced to wander through various worlds."

"Alright, ask any more questions later. The priority now is to stop Lancelot and his men who are charging toward us," Daniel reminded them, tightening his grip on the lance in his hand.

"Is there a plan?" Mash asked, nervously gripping the handle behind her shield.

"Mash, when the battle starts, you block Lancelot's sword a few times first to adapt to his attack style. Meanwhile, see if Galahad inside you will respond to you," Daniel replied. "I'll go grab a horse first. After that, I'll handle Lancelot. You intercept all the Purification Knights; don't let a single one get away."

"Yes!"
