Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Romani Has Yet to Make a Choice

Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash fell asleep.

Probably because they were chasing after Daniel to keep hearing information about the Sixth Singularity, the two of them had gotten a bit overexcited.

As a result, they consumed too much physical and mental energy.

By the time the information reached the Lion King, the two couldn't hold out any longer and fell asleep.

But that didn't mean Daniel could sleep too.

Da Vinci and Romani, whose interests had been piqued, had no intention of giving up on hearing more.

After all, information about the next Singularity was also a topic of great concern to them.

No, rather, because they could only ask Daniel for information within this Singularity, the next Singularity and the final outcome were actually more important to them.

In any case, of these two, one was a Heroic Spirit who didn't need sleep, and the other was a former King of Magic who treated staying up late as a routine matter, so their spirits never flagged.

As for Bedivere, upon learning that he had fulfilled his mission and hearing the Lion King's final choice, he went off to the side to rest.

After all, this Singularity was also the end of his journey; things after the finish line were beyond his capabilities.

Continuing to listen would only add to his worries.

Sanzang, on the other hand, was listening as if it were a heroic epic script, though she was very quiet due to the lack of tea.

After Daniel finished recounting the information for the Seventh Singularity, both Da Vinci and Romani were moved to the point of tears.

"I didn't expect Fujimaru-kun and little Mash to have grown to this extent," Da Vinci said, wiping the corners of eyes that showed no trace of tears, looking at the two sleeping children with a gaze full of 'my child has finally grown up' sentiment.

"To think they could even defeat an opponent of Tiamat's level is simply unbelievable; that's an existence that even Grand Servants have to unite to take down," Romani sighed with great emotion. "Those two, really... I'm crying my eyes out."

"Everything I've said assumes a perfect route," Daniel yawned and reminded them. "After all, the Seventh Singularity is so fraught with crisis that it's despair-inducing. One wrong move could very likely lead to the deaths of Fujimaru and Mash."

"Ah, we know that, of course. After all, it's always been like that. We also trust Fujimaru-kun's intuition quite a bit, so we let him act freely in most decision-making situations," Romani nodded in agreement. "So, next is the most crucial Singularity, right? The Singularity where the mastermind behind the Incineration of Humanity is hidden."

"The Final Singularity: The Grand Temple of Time, Solomon."

"...Is the mastermind King Solomon?" Romani asked cautiously.

"How is that possible? Anyone else could say that, but how could you say something so foolish? That is absolutely a fake; no one should be more certain of that than you, Romani," Daniel waved his hand and looked at Romani on the screen with a complex gaze.

Romani didn't reply, just kept taking deep breaths, trying to suppress the unease in his heart.

"The time of coronation has come, he who initiates all things."

Then Daniel's sudden sentence startled Romani so much that he fell directly off his chair.

"Anti-World Noble Phantasm—that is the truth of the Final Singularity."

Romani's mouth opened and closed, but he couldn't utter a single word.

And you still say it's not Solomon!

Isn't that Solomon's Noble Phantasm!

"Who is he who sits upon the throne? Ah, it is the remains of that great King of Magic, Solomon."

Daniel suddenly adopted a chanting tone.

"Who is he who dwells within King Solomon's remains? Ah, it is that unbridled pity, the 'Human Order Correction Phenomenon' Goetia, a collective of the Seventy-two Demon Gods created by Solomon."

"That is all. Now, you should have realized who the mastermind is, and the means to crush that Demon God King who accumulated power and utterly surpassed Solomon."

The expression on Romani's face on the screen was extremely complex.

Shock, realization, fear, relief.

"In the end, it's still Solomon's fault," Sanzang's merciless words pierced through the mental defenses of Romani, who had just come to his senses.

"So, what is that Demon God King's goal?" Da Vinci followed up with a tense question.

"His direct goal is to travel back forty-six billion years in time to reach the origin, become a new celestial body, and create a new world without death."

"But there is another possibility."

Before everyone could absorb this startling goal, Daniel threw out a new viewpoint.

"That is, he noticed that future where there is nothing left to burn, so he intended to perform an emergency evasion himself."

"Wait! What do you mean by 'a future where there is nothing left to burn'!" Romani interrupted Daniel, swallowing nervously.

"Hmm... remember those countless pale hands you saw at the very end that wanted to grab you?" Daniel looked at Romani on the screen and reminded him, "That warning wasn't alerting you to the Incineration of Humanity."

"Rather, the successful salvation of the Human Order is the prerequisite for the event you were warned about to occur."

"And to save the Human Order, Goetia must be defeated, but... for the current Goetia, there is only that one weakness."

"The time of parting has come, he who surrenders the world (Ars Nova)."

The expression on Romani's face froze.

"...Oh, is that so? I see, so I used it," Romani scratched his cheek as if trying to hide something, a faint smile on his face.

He was on night watch in the control room, and since this was a private chat, there were some things he could talk about a bit more openly.

Da Vinci had long since had suspicions about his identity.

"You used it, but that is not the predetermined future," Daniel shook his head with a bitter smile. "The reason you mustered your courage and stepped onto that land was because Mash made the choice she believed was most important, and finally vanished into the light."

"Mash? What happened to that child?" Sanzang was stunned for a moment, then looked with concern at Mash, who was sleeping not far away.

"Under the high heat of that band of light's rays, she was incinerated until not even ashes remained," Daniel replied. "Leaving only that snowflake shield still standing firmly in front of Fujimaru-kun to protect him."

"Fou?" Fou suddenly jumped out from somewhere and circled Daniel twice.

"Although I don't understand the meaning of your cry right now, I imagine you must be worried about Mash," Daniel's tone became humble again. "You used the magical energy you'd accumulated for a hundred years and your own reason to not only create a miracle that even True Magic hasn't reached—'the complete resurrection of the dead'—but you even extended Mash's original remaining lifespan of less than three days to that of an ordinary human."
